Signature Electric Co is a small business that focuses on residential electrical projects and landscape lighting. We have extensive experience with solving electrical problems in older homes. We do everything from installing a light fixture to wiring a new home. We have licensed and friendly electricians ready to take care of your next project. We can provide you with a free estimate on your next project. Our electricians are spread out. Chris lives in the eastern suburbs, Jason in the northern, Troy & Max in the South east, Alfie in Rosville, Scott in west metro, Ryan near Minneapolis, and Adam in St. Paul Thus we can serve most areas quickly.

The service provider "no showed" and was unprofessional on the phone. He claims he left voicemails regarding my choice in colors for simple wall plates for an outlet, approximately a 10 cent item (there are three colors). I told him to bring all three, I'll pay the extra $1.00 for them. Instead, he failed to show up and was rude and closed the call "thanks buddy" and hung up on me. Bush league.

"We attempted to contact this customer numerous times time to verify our appointment and the color of the devices in his house. The customer never responded back to our messages, thus we did not send out an electrician. The customer called and complained that we did not come out. We informed him of our attempts to contact him. He did not feel that it was important to respond to our messages. We chose not to work for someone who showed so little respect for other people. Many times we've sent out electricians to jobs only to be told, "we've already had it done, or we've decided not to do the work". We still pay our employees for the time, even though the company does not make any money. This is why we always call to confirm our appts."

This is our second time contracting with Signature electric and we were again very pleased with the pricing and the professional job done by his work crew. Scott, the owner, is very prompt, and responsive to any concerns we have. He is very easy to get a hold of when we call. We feel that this is a very honest and trustworthy business and wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

Everything was going fine until one of the final days, when the ceiling fan boxes came into place. The electrician could not get a hold of me on my cell phone (during workday hours), so instead of waiting until I got home to consult with me about the boxes, they went ahead and put them in all three bedrooms. These were not the places I specified. Additionally, after all was said and done, I got my bill and it was $1300 more than the estimate. Because of this I had to spend my own savings on the additional payment rather than add money to the loan I was receiving from the community council. Bad business. They also charged me for the extra ceiling fan box they then put in the dining room, claiming it was my fault because they couldn't get a hold of me. Additionally, I now have large unpatched holes in many of my walls and ceiling because they needed to get at wires inside the walls. When putting in the bathroom fan, it was left hanging instead of being installed completely.

"THE FINAL PRICES EXCEEDED THE ORIGINAL PROPOSAL DUE TO THE CUSTOMER ADDING ADDITIONAL ITEMS THAT WHERE NOT ON THE ORIGINAL PROPOSAL. SOME HOLES WHERE MADE IN THE WALLS TO GET WIRES FROM POINT "A" TO "B". THE HOUSE WAS BEING RENOVATED AT THE TIME. WE CANNOT GET WIRES TO GO THROUGH FRAMING WITHOUT EXPOSING THE FRAMING AND DRILLING A HOLE THROUGH THE PIECES OF WOOD. WE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT THE OWNER NUMEROUS TIMES FOR INFORMATION/ANSWERS BUT DID NOT GET RESPONSES BACK. WE ASKED THAT SHE BE THERE IN THE MORNING SO WE COULD GET INFO, SHE WAS UNABLE. THE CEILING FANS WERE PUT WHERE WE BELIEVED THEY WERE TO GO, BASED ON A WALK THROUGH DURING THE PROPOSAL. THE BATHROOM EXHAUST FAN WAS PUT IN THE EXACT SPOT THAT THE PREVIOUS EXHAUST FAN HAD BEEN. THE ORIGINAL EXHAUST FAN WAS CONSIDERABLE LARGER THAN THE NEW ONE, THUS PATCHING WAS REQUIRED TO FINISH THE CEILING. WE'VE ALLOWED THE CUSTOMER TO MAKE PARTIAL PAYMENTS ON THE ADDITIONAL ITEMS AS HER FINANCES ALLOW. COMMUNICATION IS KEY, BUT IT REQUIRES BOTH PARTIES TO BE PARTICIPANTS."

They were very responsive, and even gave me a part number to go online and buy the part myself (meaning lower price). As soon as we had the part, they scheduled an appointment quickly. When they were here, they were very courteous and even kept our toddler entertained. The work site was clean.

Scott was very helpful initially talking with him. Was able to schedule someone to come out within a week. His estimate was between $250-$300, which he was on the low end off once we got the bill. The electrician did a great job he worked hard and got done sooner than was estimated. Was neat and didn't mind my curious 3 year old. They also did a safety check (for Angie's list customers) and we discovered one of our GFI outlets to not be working which was nice to know.

We have been remodeling our bathroom for one year now. Signature came out in April to do the electrical rough-in and had to wait for us to finish up some other things. Despite the time lapse, they came back out in September and were able to pick up right where they started. Signature Electric was 1 of 3 bids that we received and they had the best price (a valuable coupon too). Scott's bid was half the price of a large, reputable electric company. The communication was also excellent as I was able to reach him by phone and email without delay. The crew, Nick, Alfie and Tim, were very professional, helpful and experienced. Signature was also willing to do work which other companies would not do (e.g. removing the old knob and tubing and installing an exhaust fan in the shower). They also did some other work around the house such as replacing three light fixtures and installing two outlets (one outdoors). Overall, Signature was a great company to work with and we will definitely use them again and will recommend them to family.

The wiring problem happened at about 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday night, as we were working with a light switch. We couldn't find the problem, we didn't actually do anything to the wiring, but half the house went dark and nothing would turn on no matter what we did. We turned to Angie's List to find someone nearby who might answer the phone after hours, and Scott from Signature Electric answered. He was able to have someone at our house at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. Chris figured out the problem pretty quickly, somewhere there was a broken neutral line, but finding it was the problem. He spent about three hours in the morning, and then had to leave to get a wire tracer from his regular truck, which was in the shop. He came back about two and a half hours later with the tracer, and Scott came along to help. Even with the tracer, they couldn't find where the problem in the wiring was, it was probably buried in the ceiling in some junction box that had been covered with drywall, but they did come up with a fix that involved looping a neutral in another light switch that was missing a neutral. I have to wonder if the problem could have been fixed sooner if Chris had the tracer with him when he arrived, and if he didn't wait three hours before going to get it, but I can't tell, since even when they came back with it, it still took them several hours to solve the problem. They were very thorough, were considerate of our home and keeping it clean, and in the end they solved the problem and the dark half of our house was powered again, so I'm happy to endorse their work. Scott even gave us some lessons in how to wire a three-way light switch!

When I called for an appointment, I was able to reach someone right away, and they were able to make an appointment within just a few days. The workman were polite, knowledgeable and time efficient. When I had a question about the billing, the serviceman called the owner right away and let me talk to him. He was very pleasant and we were able to resolve the question in short order. I would definitely use this company again.

I called Scott Hunter from out of town on Monday to schedule this installation at the end of the week. He said he would call me on Friday and was prompt in calling me as he said he would by 9 a.m. Scott said someone would be at my home around 1 p.m. At 11 a.m., the installer called to see if it would be OK to come early. He did and completed the job in about 1-1/2 hours. The company billed me for the work done.

Signature Electric did a great job for us at what turned out to be a very competitive price. Not many electrical companies locally were willing to even bid the job to install the low voltage switching wire on this system. One other company's bid was double the amount of Signature's. The work was very thorough and well executed. More than 2 months later, we have not had a single problem with the system. We would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

1 person from Signature arrived at the agreed time while the other person picked up the bathroom exhaust fan/light. The telephone lines were worked on first. Then 1 of them started on the bathroom project while the other guy fixed the yard light. The project was finished before they thought it would. They swept up the mess they did make but I still did a more thorough of cleaning which I always expect to do with any project I have done in my house.

I used Signature Electric for a ''side job'' on a remodel project I was doing. Upon opening some walls I found some old wiring in a different room that needed to be replaced. Signature Electric had also done some new wiring for my remodel job which was paid for by my contractor. Initially we were overcharged for the ''side job'', but after clarifying the scope of the work with Scott he corrected the price. Scott was good to work with, but I wasn't impressed by professionalism of the original installer who did the work. We were satisfied with the work and the service.

Excellent experience. Scott gave me an accurate estimate of the work to be done, and finished it well ahead of schedule. He thought he was only adding an outlet for a washing machine, but when he came I asked him to do several other jobs and he was kind enough to do them the same day! He did a remarkable job wiring for a plasma TV by finding a way to wire it that didn't damage any walls. Not easy to do in a townhouse with no unfinished space. We will definitely hire him again and would not hesitate to recommend him to others.
