"Upon completing the fire restoration at the member’s home, I was given the impression that the member was comfortable with the final cost and that we ended the project in good standings. I've since received multiple defamatory complaints on behalf of the member from the Better Business Bureau, the Office of the Attorney General and the Minnesota Department of Labor; to all of which we have responded. I was admittedly disappointed when the fire restoration Renovation Systems had begun at the member’s home resulted in a customer complaint. When I learned that the member’s were unhappy with the way the project at their home was being managed, I immediately became involved to personally ensure that RSI would take care of the members and that any open issues would be resolved. Our Restoration Division Manager was assigned to manage the job, and we revised the estimate and timeline that had been poorly created by the original project manager. The estimate was thoroughly revised and my team and I went above and beyond to resolve any issues that had been caused for the member’s. This seemed to have been well received as the client had at one point gone so far as to express her regret that any offer we presented to provide extra help with additional items, such as floor covering, would have been reflected negatively on Renovation Systems. As progress was made on the job and the member received her first invoice, we agreed to absorb a financial loss on the completed work due to the inconvenience that had been caused to her by mistakes made early on. Because she was unhappy with the dollar amount that we presented, it was in fact the member who decided on the final cost that she would be comfortable paying. This amount was then reduced multiple times based on accusations made by the member that we damaged some of her belongings. After assigning values to the property that was allegedly damaged by Renovation Systems and deducting those from the cost of the job, the member paid the full amount upon which she decided would be fair. She did so without any further indication that she was still dissatisfied or uncomfortable with the way the job had ended. Our final conversation was positive and I was made to believe all issues had been resolved. We would be happy to again review each line item on the final invoice with the member, but do not feel the client is owed a refund or that Renovation Systems is further indebted to the members for work that was completed. A review of the actual cost of the work completed would instead show that the costs exceed the amount paid by the client. Ryan Comer, President"
