When he arrived, he looked over the area and then explained what needed to be done and asked if that is what we wanted them to do. Then they went to work removing snow from the roof to get to the ice dams. They removed the ice dams and explained to us how to prevent them in the future and then cleaned up the area, put their tools away and left.
We are very satisfied with the work done. They were very professional. I would recommend them.
I work full-time, 5 days a week, so I have very little flexibility for home maintenance. I mentioned that in my email to who I now know are New Again Deck Renewal. Barak got in touch with me promptly to let me know that he would look at his schedule and see if he could match my possible week-day dates. Two days went by and I started getting a little nervous. But in those two days, he had managed to re-work his schedule so that he could do me on the weekend. I was so relieved not to have to weasel time off from my job.
He showed up exactly on time. There was a lot of futzing to be done because my outdoor faucet was frozen. He did all he could do to open it up, but it just couldn't be done. So we had to move the project to the other faucet, which fortunately was free. He stayed calm, cool, collected and kind during a lot of nerve-racking horsing around on the part of the homeowner (me).
They have all the right equipment, nerves of steel on icy ladders, and total professionalism -- even with the time crunch I had caused -- to be sure that the job was done right.
I hope some day I need a deck and then a deck renewal so that I can hire them again. I'm not silly enough (quite yet) to be hoping for another ice dam. They even gave me their professional advice on how to avoid future ice dams, so I may never see them again. All I can do is recommend them to everyone I know personally and hope that my review brings them some new business. If their deck renewals are as professional and painless as their ice dam removals, they are the best in the business.
Communication on timing could have been better. We agreed to a date by e-mail, but not a time. I wasn't called about timing until 8:47 AM the day of the service.
They did an excellent and thorough job. They were pleasant and easy to work with. Barak analyzed the job and came up with the most effective solution for our problem. The cost was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

"Hello Sir, Last year it was very busy for us and I'm sorry that we didn't had the time to get to your project. On 2014 I'm hoping to expand my company that more customer can use my services. I hope we can work together next spring. Thanks Barak"
"Thank you for your comments. My response was straightforward and honest: I don't need a license to do a remodel in the state of Minnesota. That is no reflection on the quality of my work, only that the state doesn't require a license for remodels. I would have been happy to give you a list of references if you had asked; I don't routinely hand out lists of references but do keep a list in case someone asks. If you have questions or would like to hire me in the spring, please let me know and I will send you a list of references. Barak"
My email wasn't replied to for about a week. Then he was offering to come out and offer a bid. I told him I spoke to him on the phone last week and told me I couldn't be helped.
What a frustrating interaction.
"Dear Customer, I'm very sorry that your experience with my company was frustrating. My services are weather-dependent, and this fall was especially unpredictable. When we talked for the first time on Oct. 1, I had 10 jobs to complete and was sure I would not be able to take more jobs for the year. However, then we had some sunny days that allowed me to finish my jobs, and I saved your email in case I'd have time to get to your estimate. I contacted you again because I had hoped to get to your fence before the cold weather hit; unfortunately, it didn't work out that way. I'm sorry for the confusion, and I hope you will give me another chance to serve you in Spring 2014; if so, you will receive 25% off your next project. Thank you for your feedback, as it is very valuable to me. Sincerely, Barak Brodni Owner, New Again Deck Renewal"
For the retaining wall, Barak power washed the wall and the concrete steps and walkway. We asked Barak for his recommendations for changing the color of the wall from a dark color to a much lighter color. Again, we followed Barak's ideas that resulted in the look we were seeking.
During all of the work, Barak and his crew worked tirelessly together to produce quality work and keep the work sites neat and clean. The crew members back checked each other to ensure quality work throughout.
We recommend him and will definitely use him in the future.
There was a minor mixup on our start date with another client and so they started later in the year than I expected but that was the only hiccup. The cleaning and staining went great and I'm very happy with the final result. Barak was on-site for most of the project and he helped with the work which I appreciated.
I would recommend him to anyone who needs to have their deck redone.
