They did fine work.  I was disappointed, however, that they charged me for their travel time, to and from their shop.

I called earlier this week to schedule a quote for our boiler system. We've been having some problems and I explained the situation over the phone. Basically we are most likely looking at re-piping our entire boiler system. The tech called this morning to notify me that he was on his way. I mentioned the 'quote' and he they said they "don't do quotes". He then proceeded to tell me that for them to come out was a minimum of $115/hour service fee. This was not discussed over the phone at all when I set up the appointment. Had my expectations been managed appropriately when I set up the appointment, I would have been fine with it. I was naturally frustrated as until this point, I had not been told of ANY FEE for looking at our system to determin what will most likely be a very costly fix. The tech was then short with me and didn't try to resolve the situation. Unfortunately, we will not be using Burnomatic.

Excellent.  The system has worked like a charm since he worked on the system.  He stayed and watched the system and checked all the pipes to be sure there were no leaks.
Getting the system working was no easy task.  Others have worked on the system and I have tried myself but it wasn't fixed until now.

We had boiler troubles which resulted in no heat! I called  Burnomatic and they were able to send someone out within 15 minutes(they happened to have someone finishing up a call nearby.) The repairman was at my home within 20 minutes of my initial call. The repairman was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. Came in and got right to work. The bill hasn't arrived yet so I can't comment on that, but scheduling was easy and the repairman seemed knowledgeable.

We'd called for service from another company twice, and both times they said they'd get back to us with a quote but never did. We contacted Burnomatic and received a call promptly and scheduled service. They arrived on-time, were very professional and friendly, and got the job done quickly. Now the radiator is working great. I just wish I'd called them first!

At our old condo (4-plex) we used Burnomatic annually to clean and prep our furnace for winter. When it came time to replace our 90 year old furnace, we used them to install a new one.

I have two major complaints.  1) Matt the main contact for scheduling is IMPOSSIBLE to get ahold of.  It was very difficult to get the pieces of work scheduled and then he didn't return calls when I asked for assistance in finding someone to look at the outside line.  Once he finally did get back in contact with me and that person came out, it took that person 15 minutes to determine that the line from the street was indeed copper and that the problem was very likely still in the house.  It then took time to get ahold of Matt and schedule their plumber to come back out and finish the work.  2) I called multiple times after the work was complete to ask when I would be receiving a bill.  I knew the bill would be 1500-2000 but had never received a final number.  Matt never returned any of these calls.  Nor did I receive a bill until JULY 2013.  By this point I had sold the house and had assumed they were just never going to bill me.
I don't begrudge them payment for the work they obviously completed.  But I do when the bill comes over a year after the work completed (and almost two from when it began.)  I called to discuss with Matt several weeks ago and unsurprisingly did not receive a response.
While their work was good, the headaches involved in dealing with their office staff are frankly not worth it.

It could not have gone any better. If they had not been so responsive, we may not have had any heat overnight and into the next day.

He had to drain the radiator pipes. He was able to shut off all the valves and drain the pipes within 45 minutes. They are very competent. The worker that came out was very professional and came on time. I have used them in the past, and am still pleased with the work done. I will be using them again in the future.

The whole project was incredibly smooth. Burnomatic clearly knew what needed to be done and provided us with names of asbestos removal companies for work that needed to be done prior to replacing the boilers. The hand-off from the asbestos removal guys to Burnomatic was perfect - the whole job (asbestos removal and new installation) was done in 3 days. Burnomatic made sure that both boilers were functioning properly before leaving. They came back promptly when called to adjust one of the motors (finally replacing it), due to noise. We are totally satisfied with the quality of service and product.

Right from the first, every contact with Ridler Uptown was absolutely professional and friendly.  No matter who we talked with, on the phone or in person, they were helpful, courteous and extremely well trained.  Their technicians are true craftsmen; the distribution system is very well laid out; everything is labeled so that the function of each part is obvious.  Servicing should be that much easier because of their attention to detail.  But beyond that, the workmanship is a joy to see, truly a work of art.

They planned for 3 days; completed the installation in a day and a half.  They arrived when they said they would; at every point in the installation where there might be some inconvenience to us, they asked when would be a good time to disconnect the hot water, or turn off the water for a few hours, etc.  Even from one day to the next, they asked if they could leave their tools and equipment off in a corner  of the basement overnight, they did not just do it.

From start to almost finish - the gas company has not yet moved the meter outside - this experience with Ridler Uptown has been the best.  They are not the least expensive; we had bids that were 5-10% less, but we went with Uptown because they concentrate their business on 100 yo homes and everything that I saw told me they were proud of their work. I couldn't be more pleased with the result.  They have exceeded my expectations.

a valve blew out in a steam line as we were finishing Christmas dinner. We had a service contract on our boiler with a highly rated HVAC company, but they were useless. Called Burnomatic, and they gave good advice to tide us over the weekend (we have a furnace as our main heating source), and came to fix the problem promptly. Also cleaned out our boiler, supposedly done by the other company in the fall, and showed us how to use it properly. Won't let anyone else touch our boiler ever again.

The quote was returned in a fairly prompt fashion and was generally complete. The price was higher than the vendor that I ultimately chose and price was one of the differentiating factors.

It was a very big job, involving both the heating and plumbing sections of the company. They coordinted very well together, kept people on the job until it was finished. The two primary workers were extremely competent, with good imaginations on how to resolve difficult issues in often tight spaces. The boiler was particularly complicated because of the many, many pipes coming out. The two brothers who each managed the two divisions were both delightful to work with, good at communication, flexible and responsible. Perhaps going with the low cost bidder could be a mistake; in this case, it was a stroke of luck.

Specializing in hot water heating systems, I was referred to them when I called Standard Heating and AC after having removed a radiator ourselves to complete tile removal in a bathroom remodel. As neophytes, we thought we could shut off a couple of valves, and fortunately that prevented a complete flood, but left a fair amount of water leaking out. When I explained the situation to the Burn-o-matic dispatcher, he had a technician at our house in less than an hour to cap off the radiator and check that the system was working to the other radiators after he did it. Even though what we did was kind of stupid, they never made me feel that way and simply handled it efficiently and professionally. It is hard to find experts on hot water heating systems and I will keep their card to use them in the future as needed - in addition to having them come back to reattach the radiator when we are done, for the same cost. I couldn't been more pleased - or impressed!

The contractor was very fixed on his idea on how to address the problem and did not entertain my proposal. When I pressed him, he said that he would not want to do it, as he is licensed and unionized and I might end up suing him. I ended up hiring a contractor who did perform the job to my satisfaction (who was also licensed, bonded and in the union)

I called them about 8:00 am and they had a plumber out by 9:00 am. I had (have) an occasional slow leak from the upstairs bathroom into my kitchen. Although he could not isolate the leak he did as much investigation as he could think of without tearing the wall apart, which I didn't want him to do. He also did a few fixes in the bathroom that could have been the problem and investigated a few items that are potential problems with 80+ year old houses. We still have an occasional mysterious leak, but we are probably going to have to remodel that bathroom to find it, which was the suggestion of the plumber as it is an outdated room anyway.

Our problem was difficult because of its intermittent nature. Sometimes our boiler worked normally, but other times it would fail to ignite, leaving us with no heat. This problem occurred when the overnight temperatures reached 15-20 below, a week before we were scheduled to leave town. I took 3 separate service calls to duplicate the problem, as the boiler sometimes worked normally, but the company stayed with the problem until it was fixed, ultimately requiring a new gas valve/electronic ignition module which has worked perfectly without further problems. It took several phone calls to get the company going on the problem, but once they understood the nature of our predicament they were on the case until it was solved.

They were very, very professional. When I had a problem, they came back and fixed it. They did not charge me anything for having to come back. They finished the job in one day. They were also very good about cleaning up. They were very responsive. If needed, I would use them again.
