BOB'S CARPENTRY SERVICE

Not very good. The owner, "Bob," is a real bore. We made a big mistake going with him. He is unlicensed and does not pull permits for his jobs (should have been our first sign). Most of the work got done (I had to finish some of it and work with his subs directly) but frankly it was WAY to hard to work with Bob and get our design intent into the job. If Bob didn't prefer what we wanted to do he would tell us how it was going to cost us more, blah, blah. He is an angry man that demeans his customers (read other reports to hear more). One day while he was finishing making a trim piece for a stairway which required some elaborate milling he called me and told me he was done and quit the job. There also was a minor flood one day during the job which Bob basically said he was not responsible for (his plumber did it) and made me contribute to fixing it. STAY AWAY from Bob Ziegler. I don't see his ads around anymore so maybe he left or just changed the name.

Bob and his crew did not get to the work until a week after he'd initially projected. On the day he and his crew showed up, he was early. He and his team were friendly at the time, though Bob continued with his joking insults (the doors we'd chosen, our intelligence, etc.) throughout the time he was there. We were initially thrilled with the speed and apparent quality of the work and were considering him for a basement finishing project. Fast forward two weeks: two of the doors are sticking slightly. Bob calls to ask if he can use us as a reference (after starting the call with another joking insult about intelligence). I mention the sticking doors and the fact that he and his crew left cigarette butts all over the back yard and would have reservations about being used as a reference. He proceeds to go off about how I should be happy that they cleaned up what they did (despite not taking several bags of garbage with them when they left) and that I wouldn't be happy with anyone. Wow.

THEY DID QUALITY WORK BUT I DON'T THINK HE REALLY LISTENED TO WHAT MY GOAL WAS FOR BUILDING THE DECK.

THEY DID NOT CAULK AROUND DOOR FRAME AS THEY SAID THEY WOULD. THEY WORKED IN THE MUD AND GROUND IT INTO THE NEW DECK AND LEFT. WHEN I TOLD BOB THE DECK WAS VERY DIRTY HE SAID TO USE A HOSE. IT HAS RAINED 5 INCHES AND THE MUD IS STILL THERE. IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT ANYONE WOULD LEAVE THEIR WORK LOOKING LIKE THEY DID. IT PROBABLY NEEDS TO BE POWERWASHED. THEY USED MY RASPBERRY PATCH AS A BATHROOM. WHEN I OBJECTED BOB BECAME VERY ANGRY AND SAID THEY WOULD CHARGE ME 100.00 MORE BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T USE THE BATHROOM IN THE HOUSE INSTEAD OF ONE NEARBY. THEY NEVER DID A WALK THROUGH WHEN JOB WAS DONE. THEY ALSO DESTROYED AN AREA OF OUR YARD UNNECESSARILY. SINCE THE RAIN, LARGE HOLES HAVE OPENED UP AT TWO OF THE FOOTINGS THEY POURED. A POST THEY INSTALLED IS VERY UNSTEADY AND PROBABLY CANNOT BE USED AS DESIRED. WE HAVE CALLED THREE TIMES AND BOB HAS NOT CALLED BACK. WE WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

BOB ZIEGLER DID A GREAT JOB AND HE IS ON THE JOB EACH DAY. PROFESSIONAL, TIMELY, GOOD QUALITY AND ON BUDGET.
