In choosing the route for the new line Jim was careful to run it in a way that would not become a problem later if we were to finish the basement ceiling. He was also respectful of my preferences for placement of the line and the outlet, and incorporated those ideas into the installation. He also checked the system, and gave the unit filter a quick cleaning. He gave me information about updated options for attachments and accessories when I asked, but he did not try to sell me anything I don't need. I also got good information about how different carpets respond to vacuuming, so now I know which ones to avoid at next carpet purchase if I want to be able to keep them clean. Jim was prompt, efficient with his time and mine, cleaned up after the work, and is very friendly. This is definitely our new vacuum place.

We needed a new filter in our central vac system, and I got a referal from the company that repaired my canister vac. They recommended A-1 Vacuum Solutions, so I called them. I was told in advance that the service call was $89.95 and that labor was $89.95 an hour. I didn't ask how much the new filter would cost, because I didn't expect it to be very expensive (it oddly enough was also $89.95). The repairman was done after about 20 minutes, so I was surprised to be billed for an hour of labor -$89.95- since there was already a trip charge of $89.95 on top of the labor. When I asked about this, he told me that this was the standard practice of the company and if I wanted to question it, I should call Jim, the owner of the company. Instead of calling Jim, I wrote him a letter explaining that I thought it was unfair to charge $89.95 for a trip charge and then to bill for labor in one-hour increments, even if the work only took 20 minutes. Jim called me after he got the letter, and he told me that the repairman was a subcontractor and that Jim in fact did not charge for a full hour when the work was less than an hour. He also told me I had been charged the wrong amount for sales tax and that he would refund me $66.44, along with his apology. He did send the check right away and he resolved the matter completely to my satisfaction. However, if you have a subcontractor working for you, you should tell them what your billing policy is, and I felt there was a little bit of shifting the blame back and forth between the two. The work was performed satisfactorily. I would use this company again based on the quality of the work. However, I would first look for some place with lower prices. I paid $210.00 for a filter and twenty minutes to install it.

I am very satisfied with the service and responsiveness of A1. I would highly recommend it to you if you are looking for a good reputable vacuum that will last you for many years. The owner is extremely knowledgeable and very customer service oriented. He evaluated my needs, explained all the options and provided insight on various manufacturers.

I brought a Dyson vacuum in for repair because my dog chewed up the cord and I wanted a replacement. He quoted a price of $250 and told me that the Dyson was a poor quality vacuum. He tried to sell me a $1,000+ vacuum. I ended up not utilizing his services, because I thought that $250 was too steep for just a vacuum cord.

Very friendly service. There are vacuum places nearer to my home in EP, but I'll drive to A-1 due to the good experience.

I brought in two vacuums and he looked them over and said only one needed repaired. I appreciated his honesty.

Jim was extremely helpful and completely explained and demonstrated all of my options from a less expensive, but also less desirable one, to a more expensive, but far better solution. We do not have a large home, but do have several different types of carpeting and three sets of carpeted stairs. The stairs were a big concern for me. Jim showed me a number of different ways to deal with the problem and was very courteous and patient, especially since I had my two toddler sons in tow. So far I love the Sebo vacuum that I got (which cost significantly more but seems to be of superior quality with its German engineering) and am very happy with the whole buying experience.

I saw their ad in the paper and decided to try them. Great customer service. Jim (the owner) helped me pick out a new head. He gave me a loaner on the spot with only my name and phone number information which I thought was pretty trusting. He told me my new vacuum head would arrive in about a week and it was. Would definitely go back! They are great!-
