Urban Tree & Landscape

I was never contacted by Urban Green. Perhaps they are overwhelmed with interest due to their coupon, but the lack of responsiveness is unacceptalbe. I would neither use nor recommend Urban Green in the future. If they are unable to return phone calls in a timely manner, I do not trust their ability to complete landscaping on time, either.

Bill and his crew have kept our trees trimmed and looking great for several years. They always do a great job, leaving the trees looking balanced, no damage to the yard, and always leaves things neat and tidy.

Because of the tree location they worked from the front yard over the house and from the drive way and alley in the back. The work was done in a day and was schedule around other work in the area which reduced the cost some. I talked with some neighbors that were watching and talking with the crew and they had nothing but nice things to say about the work crew. "Very kind" and "engaging" were some of the terms used. The tree and stump removal plus the clean up all look great. There was one problem with a damaged section of concrete sidewalk. When I called the person we worked with about it he knew about it and said it was already scheduled to be taken out and re-poured. No problem, no hassle and no excuses. A few days later it was done, the invoice came with the quoted price.

We had 2 trees fall in Minneapolis's 6/21-6/22 storms. It was a busy time for Urban Tree & Landscape, as there were many people with downed trees. Our sales represenative, Kyle, was very responsive to our request for a quote and was always available when we called (1/2 of the sugar maple fell one day, the pine fell the next day) with updates on our situation. The removal was very timely and the overall experience was good as Kyle and the service crew were very professional. The only reason I gave an N/A for price is that it was an expensive service and not having a lot of experience with pricing of tree removal I cannot say whether the price was fair or not, as I have antidotally heard different opinions on whether it was a good price. I was very pleased with the service and will have them come back to remove both stumps at a later date.

There was no phone call indicating a time-frame which the crew would show up and begin work. Tuesday morning, I expected a call and didn't receive one. Mid-afternoon the sales rep finally phoned to indicate another job went over-time and was it okay to come now to begin work. A crew of about 6 arrived close to 3 pm and had all of the work done in about 75 minutes. Pros: Inexpensive Timely (did not have to wait weeks for work to be performed) Clean - the crew cleaned as they worked, so no major messes were left behind Cons: Lack communication - Never received written estimate or contract of work. Stump removal for the two trees took longer than necessary - wasn't complete for another week I would recommend this company to my neighbours (in fact, while the crew was working the sales rep was able to sell a small tree clean-up to my neighbour that was completed during the time of my service).

The sales person said the job could be done the following Monday. I asked for something in writing outlining the scope of work and cost. He said he would get something to me later that day. Because I didn't get any information from him on Thursday I emailed him on Friday morning asking for the written estimate. I then called him on Friday afternoon and again he promised to send me something that day as well as provide a more precise time estimate for the Monday service call. This time estimate was important since he wanted me to be present, and a neighbor whose property is adjacent to the trees that were going to be removed also wanted to be on hand. At 8:00 pm I had not received any messages - phone, text or email - so I called the sales man who told me that "his boss" was supposed to call me. He agreed that this lack of follow up and communication was unacceptable. For me it reflects negatively on the reliability and professionalism of this company.

They did a pretty good job, they did what we asked them to do in terms of tree removal and that was what we were looking for.

Most recently, Gabe arrived to give me an estimate for tree trimming. He came as scheduled and walked my yard with me to look at all my old trees. The recommendation was that I did not need to do anything for another several years and Gabe educated me in the difference between tree health and trimming for appearance only. He is very knowledgeable about trees and honest. About 3 years ago I had Gabe and this company educate me about Emerald Ash Borer. He told me about the studies that have been done and was up front about the chances of it working. There was absolutely no pressure to do it and I decided to take the chance. His crew came out when scheduled, inoculated the trees and trimmed several very tall trees as also planned with heavy equipment. We could not have been more satisfied and the clean up was better than expected. They protected plants and bushes from the falling branches.

Everything is going very well. We would recommend Urban Tree & Landscape to anyone.

I bought a new home where the previous owners/renters had allowed volunteer trees to grow. Gabe came out to estimate the project and made some helpful suggestions, pointing out that there were other volunteers entangled in a fence along the property line. We agreed that it made sense to do both areas as a single project. He completed the estimate immediately and e-mailed it from his tablet so I had it for comparison. The only problem we had was scheduling the work. They gave me a date range and then had to reschedule for the following week. The crew that did the work completed it in less than a day. My chain-link fence was an unavailable height, so in order to match the pieces that weren't being replaced, they dug down 12" to install it. It looks perfect. In addition to disposing of the trees they removed, they also offered to take a couple bushes I'd managed to pull up by myself.

Showed up as promised for estimate and the bid was fair, if they had called me to reschedule instead of me calling when they did not show up, I would have waited for them.

Neighbor was having trees trimmed and they approached us about trimming two large (70 ft) Silver Maples we have in our back yard. Original quote was $1,200 but I negotiated to $900, granted all of this was on the spot with no other bids to confirm is I was getting a fair price. They performed pruning the trees, using a bucket truck with efficiency and knowledge of appropriate amount to remove from trees. The trees look much better and are fine two years later. Other than removing the trimmed branches, they did not clean any of the small twigs or saw dust from the yard. They also dropped large branches on our wood fence which broke many pickets. They did not offer to replace these but simple nailed them back together in an effort to hide this fact. Lame!

They were very professional and very fast. My experience with them went great.

Urban Tree was doing some for our neighbors. Brian knocked on our door and asked if we would like any work done. Coincidentally I had been having a terrible time getting any company to even show up to give us a quote on having a tree trimmed back from the house and a bunch of dead branches removed from four other trees in our yard. The quote was less than I was expecting and they worked on my trees within a few days. The trees now look fantastic. They left my yard looking cleaner than when they started.

Very friendly, professional at time of estimate. Contacted us with a day and time for the service. Were on time and did a very good job. Cleaned up everything.

I approached workers from Urban Tree & Landscape on my block who were removing a neighbor's tree for an estimate. Someone came by within 10 minutes to provide an estimate, and bid $250 to do the job today while they were in the neighborhood. I was home while the service was being performed, and they checked with me several times to see if they had cut enough (they were initially pretty conservative, but I wanted as hard a pruning as was healthy for the tree, so I encouraged them to keep going). They did a very thorough job with clean-up. I didn't get other quotes, so I'm not sure how their price compared for reasonably mature two trees. Even though one of them was pretty tall, they did it all with a long-handled saw rather than a cherry-picker (which they used for my neighbor)--I'm not sure why. There are a few higher branches that I wish they'd trimmed, but overall I'm very happy with the service.

I saw positive reviews here on Angie's List and they were offering a Groupon for 2 Tree Removal for $100 (A $250 Value). We had Trees we wanted removed and possibly other work to be done. I contacted them to receive a estimate for additional work to be done in May they contacted me back right away saying someone would be out and provide and estimate, by Sept I still had not heard anything additional (The summer got away from me with Sick parents and such). I contacted them back and they were very appologetic, came out to give an estimate. I explained that I originally had wanted extra work done, removal of Buckthorns, multiple 6-8 trees removed, 2-3 stumps removed, but due to family issues had spent most of the budgeted money but would like a quote for stages of the work for the future next spring, summer, ect. They came out and gave us those estimates, then they proceeded to call because they had another job in the area and really wanted to do the work. My husband said we have $500 what you can do for that, they called back and said if we could do 600 they would do all of phase 1 (which included removing 5 trees and trimming 2 others.) He said sure, unfortunately when we came home they had cut down 2 trees, and trimmed the other 3 (they were suppose to remove), the stumps remained on the 2 they cut down. Unfortunately I think the Groupon Deals overwhelmed them and there work is suffering because of it. It is unfortunate because we have additional work to do next year and would have loved to stick with a reliable company, sorry Urban Landscape is not that reliable company.

The estimated price seemed to be fair, and I was willing to give them an opportunity to see the quality of their work. Unfortunately, their absolute lack of response to my inquiries for scheduling and details prevented me from moving forward with Urban Tree and Landscape. I called Ethan multiple times, and each time he said his partner would call me back to schedule the work. This never happened, over the course of two weeks.

Very pleased with Urban Tree from start to finish. Arrived when scheduled for both the estimate and service. Orkney was completed promptly and the clean up was excellent. I did not get another estimate, but I felt the cost was fair given the scope of the project.

Company was very very good to deal with. Friendly, professinal, very good prices and excellent work. The individual who provided the estimate was Mr. Ethan Vonderhaar. No BS, no hard sell, great to deal with. Would certainly do again, and recommend to a friend or relative.

Urban Tree and Landscape were doing work across the street when they asked if I would like an estimate for trimming my trees. The estimate was more than reasonable and they were able to trim the trees right away. They were very reasonable in their price and they did an excellent job. Ethan explained exactly what they were going to trim, they were very knowledgeable, and the trimming/clean-up was done in within two hours. Urban Tree was very professional, easy to work with, and answered all of my questions.

Calls were returned promptly with inquiries. When service dates were arranged, the company did not show two days in a row citing weather restrictions (no rain all day though) and business meetings. When they finally came on the third day, work was done effectively and cleaned up brush debri very well.

Their sales man was smart, responsive and made a point of being on-site to ensure the work was done to our satisfaction. Really a pleasure to work with all the way around!

The company got back to me right away after initial contact and set up the estimate which was very helpful, first in identifying the trees and how to open up the space in front of the house and windows and keep the health of the trees. After the agreement everyone showed up on schedule and went to work shaping up the trees, taking off as little as needed, then cleaning up all the old debris. Everyone was Professional and personable as well as thorough. We love the look of the property and are very happy we chose to do the work with Urban Trees! Thanks you guys!

Urban tree was very responsive and professional. They thought about not only the house but the tree's sustainability.
