The men who did the work did an excellent job. They removed the doors without any problems and replaced the molding and we did the staining of the doors and molding.   It was pretty straight forward. They hauled away the old doors and all of the scraps and the doors are now sliding very smoothly.

They always do a great job. The quality of the windows is excellent. The workmen are clean and everything looks immaculate when they leave. They are very easy to work with. They are very professional, they know what they are talking about and have different people who specialize in measuring and installation. All the employees are excellent. If I need more windows in the future I will call them.

They have a wonderful show room, I was surprised at how beautiful it was. They carry a lot of different brands that you can see in the show room. I was impressed with the professionalism of the sales person. He made me feel confident because he measured everything very carefully. I thought they conducted themselves in a professional manner and worked really hard in spite of the fact it was snowing during the installation. I felt really good about the job when they were done with the installation.

Everything turned out well. They had the brand I was looking for and installation services which was I went with them. The quality of the door is fine.

We were very pleased with the installation. We were happy to find someone to come out and do such a small job. They came on time, were neat and nice to work with. They were also very professional. We had no issues with the service.

Sales person consulted books and internet to find part. I was at the point where I thought I'd have to buy two new windows. Home Depot, where the windows came from, had a representative who pointed me in the general direction of parts and said that's all they had. I also went to Park Supply in SE Minneapolis. Their representative said I had to bring in the handle. When I brought in the handle, he said I needed the part under the handle. After three long trips and wait and emails, I was told they didn't have the part.

Very prompt and very conscientious about cleaning up after work was completed.

I am very happy with my Marvin windows and with Scherer Bros. Kit was very easy to work with and was very professional. The guys who came and did the work were clean, on time and very professional also. I will definitely use them again as we still have a lot of windows to replace.

Dave Wahlstrom came to my home and we discussed the various options I had with the types of windows that would be available to me.  He was very knowledgeable and honest about all of the differences between the various types of windows.  We also discussed the issue with the trim on the outside of my home that was beginning to rot and the best options for replacement.  He sent me several estimates using the different types of windows/materials to show me various pricing options.  I also met with him at his office so that I could "see" the look of the various options.  We determined the most "cost effective" combination for my home - and he helped me to find other ways to save money (various discounts available to me).  He was always very responsive to all my questions whether they were phone calls or emails - and I felt very comfortable working with him.  The installation had to be rescheduled once due to weather issues - and they were very accomodating to my schedule for this.  The installation went fairly smoothe.  I am VERY happy with the windows, door, and trim work they did!

The entire team from sales to delivery to install were great. Everyone was on time and courteous. The installation was very clean and they ever vacuumed my floor.

I will start out by saying that Scherer was the most expensive bidder on the project.  The primary reason for the premium price point is that Scherer typically bids on larger jobs - replacing a storm door is an extremely small job and they let me know right up front that they weren't going to be competitive if price was the only factor.
I chose Scherer because this replacement project wasn't a simple swap out sort of thing.  The old storm door was not true to the 1915 age of the house.  The door rough opening had been altered (shorter) to accommodate the door making the entrance less appealing.
I wanted to pick a traditional wooden storm door that with a style and size that was consistent with the 1915 house.  Scherer's sale person was really great.  I was able to find the perfect door (custom size) and Scherer coordinated the painting of the door (offsite - before installation) and the installation.  The job went smoothly and I'm very pleased with the end result.
I will certainly consider Scherer for future window and door projects.

The salesman was terrific! I've called him since they completed our job to ask his opinion about some windows at another property with which he was really helpful! The installation crew was nice and very polite. They did a great job cleaning up afterwards, also.  We knew going in that the price was high, but you get what you pay for!

We have a south facing wall in our dining room that has no window. Scherer helped us select a window and then they installed it. When they started the install they found all the electric for the upper level of our house ran right up through that wall. They put me in touch with a great electrician who go the wiring moved FAST. Then they finished the job. It looks awesome inside and out!

Expericence went very well.  I needed a specific product and they were the local carrier of that.

i hired Scherer windows after the first consultation. They came out, did a bid, answered all my questions in an easy to understand manner. The scheduling was fast and efficient. The work was done in two days and I never felt cold indoors even though it was right after Thanksgiving. They cleaned up completely and were very polite. I thought it was cute when they brought out a speaker to play music while they were working. I was thinking, "Okay, here we go. The neighbors are going to be hearing loud rock." But instead it was this soft, kind of folk holiday music. I could barely hear it. Funny. Big, burly, hard working guys listening to easy sounds of the season.Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. the windows look terrific and my house is no longer drafty. The woodwork on the new framing is also top-notch. I am very pleased with their work and would not hesitate to use them again.

Fantastic. We checked out competitors (Pella & Anderson) prior to getting quotes. All 3 products were "solid" - Marion, Pella, and Anderson. It was the sales process that determines who we chose. Pella & Anderson were pushy. Dave from Scherer laid out pros and cons-all the options- and then said he was available if we had questions. The install team were careful, clean, and did an outstanding job!

Professionalism and responsiveness started with my first interaction with Dave Wahlstrom (Sales Consultant).  Dave worked tirelesly throughout month long product selection and bidding process which culminated in selection of Marvin Infinity replacement windows, Scherer Brothers doors and Larson storm windows for enclosing a previously screened porch.  We are extremely pleased with the products, quality of the installation, and as noted above the professionalism and responsiveness of all involved from start to finish. Mitch (Installation Crew Lead) and his team did quality work, were very pleasant to work with, cleaned up at end of each work day inside and out and each and every member of the installation crew took the time to thank us for our business.  We would highly recommend these folks to anyone seeking to replace windows and doors!!! 

The job went very well and took 1-1/2 days.  The installers arrived on time and were meticulous.  No complaints whatsoever.  It's great to have windows that work well and are easy to clean.  I expect them to serve me well this winter and for many years to come.

I am thrilled with my experience with Scherer.  Dave was very helpful and informative in answering my questions and concerns with what windows to select and the fact that they had to match the other condominium windows.  I emailed him several times after our initial meeting and he responded quickly each time and was very pleasant about answering my questions.  I had received two competitive estimates from two other window replacement suppliers that I found on Angie's list.  While each was pleasant and the pricing was competitive, I decided to go with Scherer and Marvin windows based primarily on my experience with Dave.  Even though it took me over 30 days to get my condo association to approve the work, Dave honored the estimate.  When I placed the order, I was asking about some of the upgrades, and Dave was very honest about whether they were needed.  I didn't feel like he was just trying to make money off of me.
The windows came in a little ahead of schedule, the office scheduled installation and was very pleasant to work with.
I was VERY impressed with the contractors that installed the windows.  Kevin explained to me exactly what he was going to do.  It was 50 degrees out while they were installing the windows, and they worked hard to ensure they got to the point where the wind and cold air was blocked before stopping for lunch.  The old windows were poorly installed, and they had to work really hard to get them out.  I could tell that Kevin takes pride in his work, and that he was doing great quality work.  I could also tell that he was proud to work with Scherer and felt that the Marvin windows were the best quality product.  They cleaned up inside and out before they left, and Kevin went through the operation of the windows with me.  
The windows and new trim are beautiful, and I could feel the improvement in the window seals and efficiency immediately.  I actually do not have to wear a jacket while sitting in the room!  This will be the first time in 12 years that I won't have to put plastic over the windows.
 
I'm definitely going to replace more windows next year, and I'm going with Scherer and Marvin windows. 

From the very beginning, the employees of Scherer Window and Door were some of the best contractors I have ever worked with.  My initial experience with the sales rep/estimator was very positive.  He was very knowledgeable about his product and the competitors.  Although the Marvin Infinity products cost more than the competitors, the rep suggested money-saving changes I could make and was able to work with me on a competitive price.  The installers were very impressive.  The crew worked very efficiently and completed the windows and sliding doors in one day.  The front door system was installed separately on a different date.  Both groups of installers took great care to keep the house clean during their work and before they left.  All crew members were very courteous and professional.
The quality of the installations were also very good.  In fact, an experience painter hired to paint the front door commented that it was one of the best new door installations he had seen.  The quality of the Marvin Infinity windows and doors is also very impressive.  The new windows have dramatically cut down on the heat entering the house (>10 degree difference in some rooms), which has already saved air conditioning costs and improved the home's overall comfort.
I highly recommend Scherer to anyone looking to for a window or door contractor.  They carry quality products and have very experienced and skilled installers.
