I was happy overall, until I began to see confusion. (1) I requested an invoice and would ask for it from time to time. I finally got it one month later and then didn't recieve an invoice for the second month.
(2) I requested snappies and didn't get them. (3) There was some delivery confusion and I ran out of diapers, which sometimes happens but along with other things it gave me cold feet, wondering if things got mixed up at the company washing division.
What really gave me cold feet was running into two friends that had arguements with the owner. The arguements were about how many diapers they started with and how many they now had and other confusions.
I really feel for the guy, he's running a small business in a hard environment. I wish him the best but I also would like to give him some suggestions, from someone who has also run a small business. I don't know how he remains profitable given the ways his business is open to exploitation. Leaving the dirty diapers on the front porch--all someone needs to do is follow their pick-up van around to find out where there are "free diapers" for the taking. This may be the answer to altercations with customers about missing diapers. There should be some way to ensure this doesn't happen or optional insurance a customer can purchase in the event that diapers get stollen or confused.
The owner shouldn't be in charge of his own customer service: he doesn't understand the American form of customer service. The process the diapers go through from cleaning to redelivery needs to be perfected by a systems management person. I would even suggest a temporary labelling system for each customer, so they can ensure the same number of diapers going in are the same as those comeing out.
"Hi (Member name removed), Thank you for taking the time to write your review more than 1 1/2 years after your service was complete. While we are glad that you enjoyed the service “while I had it”, and that you were “happy overall”, and that you would “hire us again” we think that you may be a little misleading, confused or mistaken on the service that we provided. We have checked our email records, and we do have records of you receiving emailed invoices on the correct dates, and of you replying to those same invoices by email. Also, we have a copy of the check that corresponds to the invoices that we sent you. So, we apologize, but we are not sure what “time to time means”. We have also checked our phone logs, drivers records and emails, and we do not have a single record of receiving any complaint from you before, during or after your service - until now. Nether owner has ever had an argument with any (or two as you implied) customer(s) regarding how many diapers that they have started their diaper service with. The implication that customers have paid for lost diapers is not true as no customer has ever paid for diapers lost due to a count issue from when they started. We do have a copy of an email that you were CC’d on from the email address “Fearless” about her missing diapers. Did your friend “Fearless” also send you an email letting you know that she found all of her diapers in her home and that she was not charged for any diapers that were missing and then turned up again? Thank you for your racist and bigoted remarks and comments regarding the owner and his understanding of “American customer service”. Yes, one of the owners is not American born, but the other owner is, and we are not sure how or why that should matter anyway. Thank you for the suggestion; “I would even suggest a temporary labeling system for each customer”. Every customer does have a permanent labeling system attached to their diapers, and this system was in place when you used the diaper service. Thank you for your concern regarding theft. We would appreciate if you could remove this part from your review as it offers a clear suggestion to people as to how they might steal from us. We believe that the mass majority of people are honest and trustworthy. Yes, diapers can be stolen or accidentally picked up by the Salvation Army (which has happened) and no the customer was not charged for the loss of her diapers. Overall, we believe that the world is a place which is not bigoted, or close minded, not full of people wishing to steal anything that is not nailed down. Maybe we are naive, but we believe in the kindness and honesty of people. Thank you for your concern regarding are profitability; “I don't know how he remains profitable”. We run a family business and we choose to keep the prices lower than any other company out there because we believe that everyone should have the option to use cloth diapers. That belief is also why we opened a donation center where people can get free diapers at our expense. Yes, we choose to have a lower profit off of each transaction because we believe that hard work pay off. Thank you The ATD Owners"
He was extremely non-professional by telling me that what I said was not true, when he had no way of knowing whether it was or not. (and why would i call when I got the email about the account if I had actually received four weekly faxes and had no intention of paying?) He claimed to have emailed the mother, which was upsetting as when I set up the account I had told him only to deal with me about payment. This was not the first time that there were billing errors which I called about and which they were defensive about. This is a diaper service, a customer service. They did nothing to assuage me, or to present a "customer is right, at least some of the time" view. I would not recommend anyone use this service; there are other diapers services that must be more pleasant to deal with.
"Mr. [Member name], we are very sorry that you feel we provided you with a bad experience. Unfortunately, we have no record of ever delivering diapers to any account under the name [Member name] or delivering to the address you listed as receiving service. After speaking with Angie's List, we were also told that there is a second person, named [Member name], on the same account as Mr [Member name]. Unfortunately, we have no record of ever delivering diaper service to anyone by that name either. ATD is a family owned and operated business, we pride ourselves on providing great customer service. If you check out our business online, on places like Ebay and Facebook, you will see REAL people that have used my company leaving REAL 5 star reviews. You will also see that we have won awards for our great customer service. It is hard for small businesses to survive in an era when anyone can claim to have used a business, or claim bad customer service without any proof of ever using that service or business. We have provided evidence to Angie's List showing that this review is fake. Unfortunately, we have been told that they cannot remove reviews, even if they are fake. Angie's List said this is because they do not own the review, the person writing the review has ownership."
