I had a concrete driveway installed by Aurora. When the driveway was finished I noticed large marks in the finish on one side of the driveway where the smoothing/finishing tool had been placed and drawn to the side leaving multiple unfinished areas. I called Aurora’s Customer Service line and asked that someone come out to the property to take a look at the marks and determine a course of action. A week went by and I had not heard from anyone so I called the customer service line again and the Site/Project Manager answered and said he was running behind and would come out that afternoon to take a look. When he came to the house he said the marks were normal. I explained to him that one side of the driveway looks great and the other did not. He said that that it was normal and would wear a way with time. I let him know that I had observed the individual that was doing the smoothing/finishing work talking on their cell phone while doing the work, the site/Project Manager said that was normal as well. I again let him know that I was not happy with the work and that I wanted to speak with his manager as I didn’t appreciate is flippant responses. He replied that he did not have a manager and that he did not report to anyone. I said that everyone reports to somebody and that I would need to speak with them. He then said that if I read my contract that Aurora reserved the right to come and demo the driveway and put a lien on my house. I was very unhappy and confused as to why he went straight to the Demo/Lien option and at being threatened on my own property and especially since at no time had I ever mentioned not paying the balance of what I owed. I was merely looking for a solution to the marks on the driveway and wanted to speak to someone other than him. At this point I began yelling at him and he quickly left the property and he said the district manager would call me. Being concerned that some rogue employee was going to demo my driveway I went and called their customer service line to get a final balance of what I owed, assure them I was going to pay and determine who I could speak with about the marks on the driveway as well as the behavior of their employee. Each time I called it went to voicemail, I left a message. In addition I called and left a message with the original estimator/salesperson as well as sending them an email. I mailed them a check with the final balance due the next morning. I have heard nothing and it has been several days. If your only concern is price and you are willing to gamble that everything will go well with your project than you may want to consider Aurora. They are definitely the cheapest bid you will get. Do yourself a favor though and do not hire them. Just be aware that if you have any issues or you are not satisfied in the least with the work they will not help you and if you persist they will threaten you. In addition they do not care about the safety of their employees if they believe it is normal to be talking on a cell phone while performing work in a hazardous/fluid environment that requires someone’s full attention. I am guessing an organization like OSHA would probably want to weigh in on how “normal” that behavior should be considered.

I got three bids. Aurora was the cheapest. They helped with some removal of tree debris as well which was nice. My sales rep spoke to me once and left a folder with me. It is true that I did not read the ten info sheets, which included an admonition to not use salt on my driveway. Well I did, and it pitted the entire driveway, one speck of salt left one hole in my driveway. They also splashed concrete on my garage door, and removing it would require repainting my driveway door. Realizing that I violated warranty, I contacted them the next spring. They said that they would come out and look at it. No calls, no emails. I called again and they said they already looked at it (apparently didn't notice the concrete on my door). So my driveway looks like crap because I used dog-friendly ice melt on it. Adam the operations manager, basically offered no solution. I then brought up the concrete on the door, and he admonished me for not telling him earlier, apparently that would have made a difference in their process to clean it up. overall, I'd say they hid behind their paperwork, the driveway looks like crap, I know it's my fault, but if I can't use salt on my driveway EVER (that's what Adam said when I asked him when it would be safe to use it), then I made a mistake getting concrete. The customer service was non-existent.

Aside from having to wait because of all the rain, everything went smoothly. Very professional, prompt and knowledgeable. Came the next day to do the estimate. They were also the least expensive of the 3 estimates I got!

Very professional interactions while obtaining a quote, scheduling the work, and completing the work. I called late in the season and wasn't sure I could get the work done before cold weather. The quote was very reasonable, and the work was scheduled within an acceptable time frame. Later they called and said I could get the work done even sooner due to a time slot opening up. The workers were very thorough and tidy, and the driveway looks great! I would definitely use this company again!

Nice. The good part is that this firm told me to get back to me in 2 weeks, as the work load is full at the time, they did call in 2 weeks and scheduled job. I have another company by Angies list, they said they will send a tech to do the estimate the next day, but they never did and never heard anything from this company again, bad and wasting my time really.

It went poorly. I requested this on Angie's list May 20, 2019. They first came out September 10th, 4 months after I requested this on Angie's List. I had to contact them for a time as their customer service is so poor. That night it rained. If it is going to rain you would think they would cancel. Half of the driveway seal coat looked like it had never been done. I have pictures. We called again and asked to have someone come out. Josh Miller came out and was quite snotty and said this happens all the time. So he said they would have to come again. I had to call again to find out a time when the guy was coming. They do not call you with a time. He came on September 25th. It looks better but still white areas have shown up. He never offer a price reduction or to get out of this altogether. I would definitely not have this company on Angie's list at all. In the 30+ years we have lived here we have never experienced this with any seal coat company!!!!

Poor customer service and poor quality! After reading other's reviews I see we aren't the only ones with this issue. The quote went well and we were scheduled for Oct 2017. The asphalt, where the apron was to go, was removed and it was determined that the apron would sit higher than the garage floor. The guys rang the doorbell 4 different times after trying different things and talking with others. It was decided that we rip up part of the driveway to make everything level, which was a large added cost. We stayed off of the asphalt and concrete way past the recommended time. After the winter I emailed pictures showing cracks and raised concrete. On 4/27/18 Josh responded that they were hairline fractures in the concrete and nothing would be done. On 3/7/19 I emailed more pictures showing these hairline cracks worsening and frost heaving up to about 2 inches. On 3/8 Josh left me a VM saying he would come and look in April or May. The middle of July I called to remind Josh that they still need to be looked at. He didn't come to the phone but had the young lady answering the phone tell me he had been sick and had a funeral and would be out soon. On 7/30 I emailed Josh to see when he was coming and to look at our asphalt also as oil marks were present in multiple areas. When the asphalt was installed there were oil marks but figured they would go away. Josh came out on 8/6 and said there was nothing they can do about the cracks as we "live in MN" and to cut away part of our garage wood that was ruined by the raising concrete in the winter. He hadn't seen oil marks before, took pictures, said he was going to talk to Adam and get back to me. After not hearing back I emailed on 8/25 for the owner's contact info. He emailed promptly back and said that a car had an oil leak and that was the issue with the asphalt and nothing was covered under warranty. Funny how there are multiple oils stains on our driveway (only the new part where people don't park) and most where tire tracks are and not where oil would spill. I decided after reading other people's reviews that talking to the owner would go unanswered and not worth my time as nothing would be done anyway. So before you hire this company look at the pictures and know if there's a problem you will not get a quick answer or resolution. We always hear "we live in MN" as a response. We have owned 3 houses in MN, had MANY contractors, aprons free of cracks, concrete all along our pool and concrete garage floors, that are 15 years old, and all our MN friend's houses that have aprons that look way better than our less than 2 year old one. One of the worst customer service experiences we have ever experienced. There way better contractors out there!

The team at Aurora from the estimator, to the crew, to the business office was great to work with. When issues came up, we were able to work through the issues in a professional way and the quality of the work was great.

I would stay clear of Aurora Asphalt & Concrete, Inc. They just did our driveway and concrete apron, our concrete has cracks in it already (it was poured maybe a month ago). In addition, the asphalt they poured (that we stayed off of close to 5 weeks to make sure it was set- way longer than their recommendation of when to park on the driveway) was terrible quality and even though we didn’t park on the driveway beyond the recommended time, our cars still sunk in the driveway creating dips. The response we got from Aurora was “Well. Is the driveway in the sunlight? That could make a difference”. They wouldn’t honor their “warranty” and they pretty much told us TS.

We received an estimate from the company. They took a lot of time, answered all of our questions and were very professional. We were not ready to proceed with the work at that time, but plan to hire them to do the job.
Our asphalt was coming away from driveway so needed to replace and decided to use concrete. This company was prompt, courteous, kept me informed all along and did an excellent job. I would highly recommend them.

It took several months from when the deposit was made to when the work was done. There was a serious lack of communication between the sales person and the crews and the sales person and myself. The asphalt crew did not seem to know what they were supposed to do and spent a lot of time standing around or “calling the office”. The driveway looks terrible. There are areas where the class 5 is showing through and the asphalt is about 1/4 inch thick. In addition the asphalt is heaving in the center of the drive. I’ve contacted the company for warranty repair three times. The third time I was told that someone would be out in a couple of days. I’m waiting.

When I called, they were very prompt with a quote and the price seemed competitive. They came out on 9/18/2018, filled in the cracks, and seal coated the asphalt driveway. In August of 2018 I called Gopher State 1 to mark the buried utility lines on my property. Under the driveway was the electric (identified in red spray paint on the asphalt surface), Comcast (identified in orange spray paint), and Qwest (identified in orange spray paint). After the seal coating and crack filling was done, it looked great! Utilitity markings covered up. Nice and shiny black driveway. Filled cracks looked great. Job well done (I thought). In November 2018, I noticed that the seal coating over the red spray paint (buried electric) was wearing off, so I called AA&C and told them. Being so late in the fall, they said it was too cold to come back and resurface. So, they left a note in my file about coming back in Spring of 2019 to reapply the seal coat over the spray paint, and that I was to call them when I wanted them to come out. So in May 2019, I called to arrange them to come back. I had to send in some photographs of the driveway showing where the red spray paint was showing, and of the cracks that opened up again. This is where is gets unprofessional. The president / general manager called me back to tell me that the warranty wouldn't cover the utility markings because they were done after the seal coating was done. I told him that was not true at all. And I had video proof of it (I took a video and pictures of all the markings in August of 2018 so I could remember where the buried lines lay in case I was to dig again). He still didn't believe me (without saying, he was calling me a liar). After threatening to call the Better Business Bureau on his company, and that the customer is always right, he disgruntedly agreed to have somebody come back and ONLY re-seal coat the red spray paint. Furthermore, he refused to reapply crack filler to the cracks that opened back up again (which was pretty much all of them). Cracks that reopen are not covered under warranty. So AA&C came back and reapplied the seal coat over the exposed red spray paint (but they still managed to miss a spot). In early June of 2019, my neighbor had their driveway re-seal coated. When they were done, they asked me if I wanted my driveway done as well since they were in the neighborhood. I said no, since I just had mine done and should still be under the one-year warranty. He pointed out to me several areas on the driveway where the new seal coat had already worn off (and I could see that). He said whatever product they (AA&C) used was sub-par, including the crack filler. Obviously, this guy was just trying to do a quick job on the side for cash. The bottom line is if you want a cheap job to fill in cracks and paint your driveway black, go with AA&C. After your 1st winter, all your cracks will be open again, and the cheap black paint they use will be worn already (not from wear, but just from a poor application due to not properly cleaning the surface ahead of time before the seal coating. Don't be fooled by companies like this. This is Minnesota. You can't stop Mother Nature from wrecking our driveways and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. And don't forget the GM of AA&C. He's a shrewd business man and will infer you to be a liar if you don't have dated photographic evidence of the job before and after it was done.
Description of Work: Resurface the driveway and fill in cracks
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY 4 months after work completed the apron cracked and sidewalk cracked and pulled away from stoop. After repeated phone calls to the Owner and President who wouldn't return calls he refuses to work with us on replacement and/or repair. Says the cracks are because of the Minnesota winter. His business is in Minnesota you would think his company knows how to accommodate the winters in his own state and do the work correctly. Would not recommend this company to anyone.
