Dan Buranen founded Top Line Fence in 1991, but his passion for fences started long before his professional career. As a child, he spent hours building with Erector Sets and Lincoln Logs. This hobby evolved into subcontracting for fence companies, dabbling with fence projects for his own clients, and ultimately launching his own company. Today, he's fiercely dedicated to his home state of Minnesota and the Twin Cities area customers who rely on him for custom, quality fence solutions. Service and installation were excellent. Price was competitive. Only issue was lack of communication on the start date. Work was started and completed in a very timely manner.

Not only did Top Line have a much cheaper price, but the fence looks outstanding as well. We've also found Dan to be very straightforward, and he has responded very promptly to all of our calls. I would definitely recommend Top Line to a friend.

They did another great job. They were really responsive about coming out and doing the work. I was home the day they came out to get the posts set in and all the guys were very nice. They reconfirmed everything with me at that time which was really helpful. They were great! I would use them again in the future, when needed.

I called Dan before moving and we were able to setup a meeting for my first day at the new house. He was prompt and professional, measured and drew a sketch of the proposed fence and gave me a written estimate before leaving that day. I used his sketch and measurements to apply for a city permit (which was promptly approved). There was some landscape work that needed to be completed first (due to grade issues), and Dan was flexible about coming out and setting all but a few of the posts, then waiting until the landscaping was finished. Within a week after I called to let Dan know that the landscaping was done, his crew set the remaining posts, built the fence and installed the gates. My dog and I love it! And I have had several people comment on how attractive and well-built the fence is (including my handyman, who says he can always spot good workmanship).

The fence looks great, the work was very professional and the crew was friendly. When Dan came out to give an estimate he was very informative, took the time to understand what we wanted, and discussed options. Calls were always answered promptly. Our neighbors have dogs, and Top Line arranged the work to minimize the time the fence was down, and put up temporary fencing while the posts set. We had not discussed gate hardware, but Top Line installed really nice looking hardware that was more heavy duty than what we had before. A neighbor asked if he could have the old fence wood and hauled it away, but the Top Line crew still came back to clean up debris and wash off the driveway after wards. Dan came back a couple of weeks later to make sure we were satisfied, and didn't bill us until then. The job came in a little under the estimate.

We had Dan install some fencing last year. We asked him to match that fencing for some additional work this year. He was able to do this which is a feat. He used some leftover redwood lumber last year to help reduce our cost. He was able to find some more left overs for us to use this year, again reducing our cost. He made the time to fit us in between other larger jobs so that we didn't have to wait months for the work to be done. He had a professional team of installers come out and do the actual work. They were also very professional and cleaned up everything, including hauling away dirt from the post holes!

I was very satisfied with the project. The owner, Dan, is easy to work with and a good communicator. His work crew cleaned up after themselves and were hard working. After the job I asked Dan to send them back because the chain link was a little high above the rail and he happily did this. They came back and re-leveled things even though it was only a few inches off. I was very pleased with Dan's customer focused attitude and willingness to send his crew back for a minor issue. The finished job looks excellent.

This company sent four workers to get the job done in a single day, as the fence keeps my two large dogs in the yard. They were pleasant, quick, and creative (for getting the trees out) and we were very happy with their work.

Overall a great experience, Dan bid the contract in June, but due to other work I was completing, could not start until October. The fence was in within a week, and I really love the craftsmanship. I am new to fences, and did not realize they put it together one slat of wood at a time. Guess I spent too much time looking at Menard's and at the 6 foot sections that were pre-constructed. The fence was duo purpose, privacy and to keep my Shepard in the yard, but I wanted it to add to the value (be aesthetically pleasing), so I went a bit extra on the fence (king batton board with window). The job was tricky, because I have an in ground sprinkler system (which came with the house) and no plans or specs- so we did not know exactly where the lines were-so with instruction I asked them to mark the grass if they hit a sprinkler line (I knew it would happen- but wanted to know where-so I could fix it later). They did hit two spots as they put in 43 posts (pretty minor)and they marked them.

Three families living side by side contracted Top Line Fence to do the above described work. It only took about 2 weeks from the contract signing date until they came out to begin removal and haul away. We were contacted a day before each work phase to let us know they were coming out. The crew chief was very professional and so was the team. They worked fast. BUT IN WORKING SO FAST THEY: Missed filling several old post holes, they dumped the old dirt into our back woods filling low spots but they never raked it out, the grass in our yard was new as of the start of the summer and it got destroyed along the fence line about 96 foot by 3 foot strip, they forgot to cut one of the posts off, they left one privacy board and a post with a big crack that both should have been repaired with wood glue and a clamp. EVERYTHING THEY FORGOT TO DO WE ENDED UP REPAIRING OURSELVES. Communication is slowed because Top Line does not have a working email address only a phone contact.

The project went well. The crew came twice: Once to dig holes and set posts in concrete and the second time to build and place the fence. The crew was amazing;I couldn't believe how fast they were able to construct and complete the fence. They really know what they are doing. I made two changes to the project, added some posts set in another part of the yard and had them cut two openings in the fence, and they were able to accommodate the changes easily and at a fair price. The fence was built in a difficult spot, uneven topography and heavily wooded, and an in-place chain link adjacent to it. They were able to set the fence very close to the chain link, build the fence from the one side, and work around trees. One panel corner of the fence came loose about a month after the job was completed but I was able to easily correct it and didn't need to contact the company. Otherwise, the fence looks great and I'm very happy with it.

We had an excellent overall experience with the entire process of this project (from conception and price estimates to the actual building of the fence). We researched three other companies for this project and found that Dan provided the best customer service, price and willingness to get us on the schedule as soon as possible. Some other companies had us waiting at least a month and a half! Dan's team of workers were very friendly and hard-working, and a pleasure to work with. The fence was completed promptly and is everything we expected. It turned out beautiful and we are very satisfied.

Dan was prompt returning my original phone call. He met with me, discussed what I was after and offered some suggestions. He did a very good job of explaining the process and my options. He gave me a good bid and accepted the job. During the process, I had to put him off several times and re-schedule start dates due to some other landscaping being done. Dan was very flexible and accomodated getting the fence done around my schedule. His crew was fast, curteous and professional. My wife & I happened to be laying sod in & around the fence as it was being completed and it was a pleasure to work with the crew. They were even very careful of our new sod! Great experience, competetive price, beautiful fence. And to top it off, Dan came back several weeks later to do a no-charge ''tweak'' a gate that needed to be raised after we added a paver sidewalk!

They were flexible, and it was easy to work with the team. They were professional. They showed up when they said they would. There were no hidden costs. They were quick on the job. The cost was lower than the competition, however, the attention to detail a little less then expected. They left some cement, posts, and boards from the previous fence that we needed to dispose of. I would hire them again.

The price was very good, and although it was installed a few weeks later than promised, it went up amazingly quickly and looks great. Unfortunately, within a few weeks we had small problems with gates not closing well, etc., and called to have these fixed (under warranty). We were told several times that someone would come out, but nobody ever did. We ended up repairing the gates ourselves. At this point we still had not been billed for the fence, although we had paid a deposit beforehand. Several months later, apparently someone came by and worked a bit more on the gates--we only noticed, because a bill was also left on our front porch. So, it took over 4 months to receive a bill (which at first did not reflect the deposit already paid). Now, 8 months later, we astonishingly receive out of the blue another bill for the same amount (save your canceled check). In summary, Top Line does excellent work, but their responsiveness and organization is too poor to recommend them.

Dan was very quick to get us an estimate and was able to get the work done right away. Jake installed our fence with a helper. Jake was awesome! I really appreciated his "get it done, can do attitude." We had a VERY challenging installation with a lot of rocks and obstacles to work around. Our fence is wonderful, and our dog is able to run freely in the yard. Jake works over 12 hours the day he installed our fence! He left NO mess behind and even got rid of the dirt from the holes! Thank you!!! I would highly recommend this company!

Lightning fast to get there and build, and they are responsive to calls and emails. I had special request as I was having an open house to sell my property, and the fence was a must have. So he made it fit into his busy schedule, and had it done in one day. I would recommend this workman very highly.

I am amazed, and grateful that Dan would take on my job so late in the season. We had just moved in, and needed the fence to contain our dog (and little kids). He and his workers were very prompt, and did a great job cleaning up. The fence is arrow straight, and level. Looks Great! I highly recommend Top Line for people looking for a good small company to build their fence.
