Working with David Bahr and his team from start to finish was top notch. Very professional, punctual and a high quality job overall. We had our cedar shake roof replaced and it was a very labor intensive effort. The team was here everyday and worked long hours to complete a difficult and large roof involving an extensive amount of hand cutting and placement. Job site was cleaned daily of debris and they kept us informed all along the way. We would definitely hire D S Bahr in the future.

I reached out to Dave couple times to schedule the work, and it went smoothly. He came to my house beforehand, so my husband and I can pick the color of the material and to go over the contract & work process. The work was done in five days, and Dave was responsive and attentive throughout the process. We recommend him and would hire him again.

They were a no show after we scheduled a meeting. I called multiple times and left a voicemail and never received a return call. This was especially frustrating as we had to get special permission to get into our new home since we hadn't closed yet, only to have them not show up.

Overall, I am pleased with the service and the quality of the work completed. Our new roof looks good and was completed on schedule. If I could give a B+ or A- I would. I'm a teacher so I'm a stickler and don't give out easy A's. There were just a couple of areas that keep me from giving the A (see below). David came out and took a look at the roof and was able to give me an estimate right there on the spot. He does it old school by writing it on a carbon paper clipboard, but the fact that I had a price right away was helpful. He went over the venting options and we decided on a ridge vent. I'm so glad we went this route as he charged significantly less for this than other contractors and I can already tell that my attic isn't so stuffy. Getting on the schedule was a bit tricky as I had a window of time that I wanted it done and it needed to work with his schedule and the weather. I'm happy to say that we were able to make this happen. We had to adjust the schedule a few times due to weather, but Dave did a good job of communicating that to me. Once the day arrived, one crew did the garage and another crew did the house. There might have been a few guys on both projects, but overall, it was a different crew. The part that kind of sticks with me as a problem was the fact that the foreman, Manuel, was not there for the house project. David tried to insure me that he was there, but I was at the house for most of the time and actually spoke with Manuel on the phone because he was at another project. He was not there for the house project. It wasn't really a problem as the crew that did the house did a good job. I just had a couple of questions about a vent and there was a language barrier. Between using google translate, speaking with Manuel, and calling Dave, I got my questions answered. The problem is that David told me that someone was there when he obviously wasn't. I didn't bother with arguing about it because the crew was doing fine, but it does mean that there is some sort of communication breakdown between David and his crews. As for the work, these guys work fast and do a good job. Be prepared, your house will be in chaos for a few days, but they do a good job of cleaning up and did their best to protect my plants. A few things got a bit banged up, but I expected that and I'm sure it would happen with any contractor. A month later and you can't tell any work was done. I found a total of about 5 nails and a few little pieces of shingle (this is amazingly clean if you've ever seen how much mess is made by quickly tearing a roof off). So, overall, I'm pleased with the work.

The whole experience was horrible. They were rude to me and left me in a bad situation with my insurance company. They shouldn't be in the business of helping people out who have had storm damage if they aren't willing to work with insurance companies. They claimed they don't stay for inspections unless it is a second inspection with the insurance company. Now I can't get a second inspection because the insurance company requested that they be there the first time and they just left. Didn't even tell me they were leaving...

 It is too bad because I realized that I also needed an estimate to insulate my home.  The providers that did respond were happy to give me an additional estimate.   It would have been nice to get a response even if they were not able to help immediately.

They are really good. I would recommend them to anyone who needs work done in their house.

When the shingles were removed it was clear that the decking needed to be replaced.  That increased the the estimated price by close to 4,00 dollars.
Dave was out of town but there was coverage for him so the project was able to proceed with no immediate delay.  Rain did cause a delay in completing the project.
Communication was not as good as I would have liked. 
The roof and gutters were just replaced this past week.

Hopefully this will be the last roof I will need to install so I will not be needing this service again.

It went great!  David and his team were very professional and took care of the project!  Highly recommend this company.  They helped me better understand what caused the problem and even fixed some small issues related to the water leakage free of charge. I could tell they cared about my concerns as a customer.

Anyway, I procrastinated on calling him back and pretty soon I got a note from him, reminding me about the estimate, telling me how much my business meant, etc etc. So I called him, said I wanted to go ahead. I think he said they were about three weeks out, he'd be in touch, we could sign the contract later when it got closer.I waited about twice that, got irritated, and called another roofer to get another estimate. THAT roofer (Lakewoods) told me that my roof was fine and didn't need to be replaced at all unless I was having problems with it. I wasn't. Dave Bahr is no longer my go-to roofer.

The start time started at 5 weeks out. After 4 weeks I called to see when a good time would be to choose roofing material and go through logistics. He was two weeks behind schedule and would call at that time to set the meeting. After another month I called to find out what the status was on starting the planning process and schedule the reroofing. Sounding annoyed that I called, he said there were still 3 projects ahead of me and they were at least three weeks out before even having the planning meeting. At that point we decided to go with a different company. Three days later, after we had begun the process with another company, he called to schedule the meeting. Upon reminding him we went with another company he became confused and frustrated. I said that he told us at least another three weeks, on top of the already 11 weeks we've waited on his initial 5 week projection. At this point he simply hung up on me.

From 1st phone call (same day as email sent) to final clean-up, excellent!  Dave and his deck crew (Miles and company) did a great job that 9 out of 12 builders ran from given the wood of choice for the project. Even built an accessory table out of scrap wood to place at porch at front of the house at no charge!
No skimping on details or quality (can't exactly find 20' 6" Pre-Grooved Tigerwood deck boards at your local lumber yard) to ensure our requests were met with EXCELLENT pricing and complete follow-through.
All we have to say is a HUGE thanks in helping us add a beautiful deck to our house.

Everything went very well. Small issues handled promptly and completely. Out of the 8 total days of work, Dave was here 6 days. He was very responsive and meticulous in the finished product. In some cases went above and beyond to make it perfect. Held to original estimate to the penny. I would recommend him in a heartbeat. Looks great!
