The finished product is nice but how you get there is not worth the headaches and the money. This company did remodel work at my place of employment so I thought I was going to save some money as Bob Mitchell will tell you " My work looks like high end quality but at a fraction of the cost". In the beginning I said "we should make out a contract" Bob Mitchell stated we "don't need to get lawyers involved writing contracts, this project is straight forward. $8,000 will cover everything, I will be done in a week." The first day was Bob's most productive day- he worked a whole 8 hours and had all the demolition work completed on day one Monday. He did state as he was leaving that "the floor removable was the most difficult he ever took out". I didn't pay much attention to the comment, but in hindsight I should have stopped the project at that moment knowing what I know now. Doing my homework since my work has been done; he did what he was supposed to do- get down to the subfloor removing the old mortar. Tuesdays he is off for babysitting his grandchildren which I think was cool in the beginning but not so much by the end of the job. So no work on Tuesdays by this company of one. This company has no associates. Needless to say at the conclusion of week one on the job the cement boards and ceramic floor was complete. This project took 3 weeks to complete and one day he mentioned he charges "$65 a hour for labor but he doesn't charge for the time he is not on the job". I said good as he make 2-3 trips a day to go to a hardware store or building center to get supplies he does not have. He is one of the most disorganized people I have met in this profession. He will let you know that he has a cabinet maker and a place for you to go to select your granite and ceramic tile. He will also let you know he does not upcharge you on the materials but in hindsight he did just that. I know remodel work can be messy but Bob will not do anything to reduce the mess. When project was completed you will notice that you will have white primer paint in your rock garden, you may have to call Roto Rooter to unclog your laundry tub where he will clean his bucket of grout, etc. With two days remaining of work Bob says I have a bill for you. I was seeing red once I saw what the amount was for- $11,763.46. Please learn from me- make sure you have a contract so you protect yourself. You will spend hours of your own clean up and costs as he is messy. He will try and talk you into different designs and how to do things as he will tell you " I am an expert carpenter, plumber, electrician, painter and tile man". In hindsight do not have him do your painting or electrical work. He takes shortcuts which has you redoing the painting- and in our case getting a professional electrician as the two electrical outlets he put in shorted. The electrician we had to call said "whoever did your electrical work is not a pro". I no longer have respect for this person and he took off $740 after I questioned his hours that he claimed he worked. I had paid him $5,500 in advance to his last day of work, his last parting words to me was that "I shorted him $ 23" as my final check was for another $5,500 bringing total payment to $11,000. Needless to say I spent $3,000 more than we thought we would for the work we imagined being done. If you hire this company you were forewarned. One final bit of information we purchased our own toilet and hardware for the vanity and doors that we purchased as we wanted to save time. Kind of sad and funny at the same time, and I only have myself to blame. Bob took advantage of me and I was stupid enough to let it happen. Never again!!!
Description of Work: Bathroom and foyer of split level home to be remodeled. Bathroom- removal of existing ceramic floor and half wall, new vanity installation along with toilet, and new tile walls and floor installation. Also- painting, two new six panel doors installed and painting of ceiling. The tub and surround not included in this project.

Description of Work: Didn't follow the archietect's plans and quit before the job was done. Had to do a lot of negotiating to even get him to finish up a few minor things. Although some of his work was excellent, it didn't make up for all the mistakes made during construction. I would not hire him again not would I recommend him to anyone.

We had Bob Mitchell complete other projects in our home before. In 2003, he completely remodeled our main floor including a complete renovation of the kitchen. Work included new hardwood floors and tile, new kitchen cabinets and Silestone countertops, new appliances, new lighting, and new 6 panel doors throughout the main level. In 2007, he did a complete redo of the master bath which included moving walls to accommodate a bigger bathroom with tiled shower and jacuzzi, heated tile flooring, new cabinets and tops. In 2010, he completely renovated the guest upstairs bathroom. There is nothing outside his level of expertise. This year we had him replace all windows as described above. I was amazed that he got the interior wood trim to perfectly match the rest of the house, plus the level of detail and finished look inside and outside was fantastic. Bob's talents include fine and rough carpentry, ceramic and stone tiling, plumbing and electric, drywall and painting. I am also impressed with Bob's sense of design and architecture. If you need help figuring out the perfect color or design plan, Bob can do that at no extra charge. He's got a brilliant mind that stays on top of the latest trends and techniques. He will do exterior renovation also. He recently returned from a mission trip in Thailand where he did volunteer construction work for an orphanage. Bob has a big heart who cares about others. I can assure everyone will be impressed with his talents, competitive pricing, and kind spirit.
Description of Work: We had Mitchell and Associates replace all 19 windows in our primary residence. Our old original construction windows were replaced with new Anderson double pane double hung units. Bob Mitchell also installed new flashing around the exterior of the units to finish off the appearance and match existing trim. He also completed the job by staining the interior window units to match existing woodwork in the house. Bob was able to beat the "Renewal by Anderson" price by over $5000 and he did more than what they would have performed.
