We had a zone system installed in our basement in 2006. They put in a system that was discontinued. It stopped working after 8 years. We had another one installed in December 2015. The module kept falling off. We had them out a couple of times for various other work and they put it up each time. Finally after 1 year they said they would have to charge us because the warranty was up. We looked in to the warranty from Honeywell and learned it has a 5 year warranty but not the 1 year that genz Ryan gives. They did subpar work, gave older equipment, sent people who were not trained, they told me directly that it was their fault and would take care of replacing the product. They wanted to sell me a furnance because ours is 17 years old and when I said "no" then they said that they would not fix our zone system even though they admitted it was faulty. We spent $3500. And all they cared about was the money and making a sale. I will never have them out again nor buy any of their products. Poor salesmanship.

Genz Ryan technician spent 30- 45 minutes on the furnace cleaning filters and checking it out. The technician told me that both the blower motor and the exhaust motors where drawing heavier amp than recommended. He quoted over $1600 to replace them both. Since the furnace is 19 years old he suggested a new Amanda furnace for a quote of $4550. Within 10 days of the tuneup the furnace stopped working. I was suspicious of the timing so called Angel Air. Technician found the "P" tap plugged, and said the number one thing to do on a furnace tune up is to clean this filter, which Genz Ryan did not do. Furnace came back on line. He tested the amp draw on both fan motors and found them both acceptable. He also quoted $3500 for a new Amanda furnace and said one I have is a better furnace and quoted $4100 to replace it with exact quality replacement. Service call was $89. I called Genz Ryan on Friday morning and explained why I wanted to discuss this service with the manager. I was told she would call me back sometime in the next week. That is all I needed to know. I would not recommend them.

This company is joke. Ryan A tried to defraud me of $1200-$2500 and then I tried to follow up with Natalie to address my concerns but she was always too busy or unavailable to talk. These people are not interested in helping you, only in separating you from your money. Oh and by the way, I got a second opinion on that $1200-$2500 repair and turns out no repairs are needed. At least I now know an honest company to call and it is NOT GenzRyan.

We had to make one callback and I think their prices were a tad high. We had to call them back for a minor thing. One of the toilets got the 2 bolts to hold it to the floor and there was a cap that goes on top of that bolt, one of the caps wouldn't stay on. I think I could have gotten a better price. If it has anything to do with the toilets, I will use them again. If it has something to do with something else in the house, I might try someone else.

I previously have had Genz Ryan out for service on my furnace & AC years ago. When my AC went out this summer, I called them to come out as I wasn't pleased that my current maintenance company hadn't detected the issue when they did their check-up 1 month prior to the breakdown. Genz Ryan diagnosed the issue ($2k repair or $3k replacement) and replaced my AC unit. As part of the AC work, I signed up for the Genz Ryan maintenance plan. I had Genz Ryan out this Fall to do the heating check-up. At the end of appointment, the technician told me that the amps on my CO Transfer system were too high and that it was going to burn out my motor. They weren't willing to tell me how urgent or critical it was or give any personal recommendation on what they would do. The repair person told me, "It's like a car with a maintenance issue. If you take it on a road trip across the country, I can't tell you where it will break down - only that it will." They gave me 2 options - $800 repair or $3-$4k furnace. They wouldn't give me a copy of their maintenance report (had to call twice to even get the invoice for the service). But would let me take a photo of their ipad with the findings. (When I did that, the repair person said, "Why? Are you going to get a second opinion?) Given the price and the fear they had caused that my heat wasn't going to work, I called Standard Heating & AC out for a second opinion on my furnace. Standard Heating & AC was able to get me an appointment in a very timely fashion and during my desired time range. Standard Heating & AC ran the tests on the furnace and didn't see any of the issues reported by Genz Ryan. (In fact, he thought Genz Ryan might have been measuring the wrong wire). Standard Heating & AC told me they wouldn't do any repairs or replacements at this time, and told me what signs I'd see if the issue was real or imminent. I appreciated that Standard Heating & AC could have used this as an opportunity to push unneeded repairs or a furnace replacement, but instead gave me advice on what they'd personally do in the same situation. I called Genz Ryan after the service to let them know about my experience. The customer service person was very empathetic and told me that she too would be frustrated and feel mis-led. I told them that it makes me question when the $3k AC replacement was really needed or if that was an oversell too for something that could have been repaired for a few hundred. Genz wasn't willing to cancel my service plan - even though I spent another service fee to get the second opinion. They offered to send another technician out to my house who would look at it and "admit if they were wrong." I told them that I don't trust them at this stage and couldn't afford a 3rd appointment and the missed time from work. My suspicion from this is that Genz Ryan is more worried about profit and upselling new AC and Heating units than they are about doing what's right for their customer. I left my second $3k quote experience from them with the impression that their "technicians" are aggressive sales people in disguise. Who knows who is right about my heating unit - perhaps the amps are too high - perhaps not..... But I did learn from this experience that a good technician will actually give you an opinion - leaving you informed (as Standard Heating & AC did) - not leaving you in fear (as Genz Ryan did). If a technician isn't willing to offer an opinion and only expensive quotes, get a second opinion. I would never do another repair or replacement in my home (above $500) without a second opinion and without first checking Angie's list for reviews.

Since it was a no-heat situation, they asked us to pay a $99 fee for a service technician to come out. He was there for a while and found that there was a fracture in the gas line. The bad news was that the boiler was worse than we thought. He talked us into a plan to improve the boiler that cost over $7,000. He was going to do all these things that was going to fix it as well as protect against any further problems. The boiler was running and working when he left but he never turned off the gas line or fixed the fracture. He said he would come back to make all these fixes, which included fixing the gas line. The next day, we had no heat. We called our energy company because I was very worried about the gas fracture. The energy company sounded very concerned and upset. and sent a serviceman out to find the gas leak. They found a 47% leak, which they red tagged. They also turned off our gas. Genz-Ryan came out later that same afternoon, and seemed to be very upset that I had called the energy company. They managed to get the boiler working again that afternoon. They brought a huge group the next day to start these fixes on the plan we had agreed upon. They put in new piping to fix the gas fracture, which my knowledge the gas fracture was fixed. They then put a new chemical into the system to clean the boiler out. They put in automatic pressure so that it would maintain the pressure itself. His claim was that we shouldn't have to even think about this service. I had a lot of questions and he seemed very dismissive. Turns out they never found a problem. They just wanted to add these parts and services to make extra money. They checked my boiler and thermostat multiple times and put in a new thermostat, for example. They also proceeded to put the old one back on, check the boiler, then put the new thermostat back on. It didn't make sense. None of this needed to be done, not even the chemical, which we learned from hiring other heating companies. Genz-Ryan said they would be back on the Monday after Thanksgiving to finish the services in the plan, including taking out the chemical of the boiler. We woke up the next day and still had no heat and at that point we decided to cancel with Genz-Ryan and called a new company, Snelling. Genz-Ryan was clearly not solving the problem at all because we woke up each morning with no heat. We are still in a payment battle with Genz because they are still charging the full $7000 when only about half the services have been rendered. We don't want them back in the house. I would never use them again and I don't want this to happen to anyone else.

I had they installed a air conditioning for me five years ago and a furnace and the air conditioner wasn't working and so they gave me five different repair option ranking price from three fifty to seventeen hundred I believe and I called out Minneapolis at northern state power and they repaired it for over a hundred dollars it just needed a free on they have a strange policy where they come and look at your appliance your furnace your air conditioner and then they seem to have like use car salesman approach where they begin to  give you these options for repair that are the band aid approach to the platinum approach and it's so confusing and it feels manipulative and that's the second time I had them out but I will never called them out again even though I purchase the appliances through them I wont be subjecting myself to that strategy basically the repair tech is actually a sales person.

Terrible. The service technicians came out and supposedly "fixed" the problem. I paid $677 for their "90 day guarantee" as I really wanted my air conditioning to work as I had guests coming in from ou of town. It was not functioning three days later and I called them out to back up their "guarantee." I was told that my unit was completelying out of freon and it would cost an additional $300 to fix the problem. I declined and talked to the individual who, coincidentally, had given me a quote on a new heating and air conditioning system. They came out and magically my air conditioning worked and had plenty of freon! Two days earlier another service technician told me I was completly out!! Then my liquid line was frozen and my air conditioning system was not working again! I called and asked for a manager to call me and to give the company and opportunity to make it right. Instead they scheduled another service call for when I was not home. When I called to talk to a manager, who I was told would be contacting me and did not, I got a voicemail. Apparently, the nice and decent way does not work with Genz Ryan. This had been a horrible experience and I would not recommend them to my worst enemy.
