I paid this company nearly $200 for a custom made Adirondack chair. They were polite, friendly and said that my chair would be delivered in about 10-14 days. I never heard back from them, the chair was not delivered, and I have since read on several websites that the company has gone out of business. Their own website is gone, and the phone number is is answered by an anonymous message. I have contact the Arlington, MN City Attorney, who according to one website, is collecting information from harmed customers, with the possibility of filing criminal charges. I would encourage other customers who have been ripped off to do the same.

DO NOT order from this company unless you are willing to have a nightmare experience. They seem like nice people at first who may have gone in over their heads and have taken more orders than they can handle. I don't mind some delay, but endless delays with no communication and total disregard for customer service is unacceptable. You should not take people's money if you cannot fulfill the order in a timely and professional manner. And if you cannot fulfill people's orders you should promptly refund money.
Description of Work: I ordered a desk on Jan 17th 2011 with the promise that the desk would be delivered and assembled free of charge in 8-10 weeks. Since it was a custom piece modeled after a similar piece from a department store at a lower cost I was willing to wait. Initially the customer service was great, and they were very responsive and even mailed stain samples to my home . I placed a deposit of half the amount on the desk using a credit card. 12 weeks later I had not gotten any response or any update on my desk. On calling the office a young woman picked up the phone and claimed she could not give me an update because, Steve, the carpenter was in the shop and would have the info. She recommended I leave a message with her for him which I did. I also emailed their customer service email to find out why my desk was 2 weeks late and nobody had contacted me about the status. I got an emailed response from Steve stating I had been missed from the calling list that informed customers that they were running behind on orders. He offered to cancel the order or wait another 3 weeks to have my desk finished and delivered. SInce I had already waited the better part of 3 months i said if he could guarantee no more than 3 weeks until the desk would finish i would keep the order. he said he could have it in no more than 3 weeks and a few days. 5 weeks later, still no word from house2home and repeated calls and emails have gone unanswered. To make things worse, I discovered a family friend had a similar experience with the same company and had furniture delivered to their home which was poorly made and nothing like what they initially promised. They even had to drive back the furniture to the farm house2home operate out of to get their money back. I stil have not gotten my $350 back and now have to go through consumer protection agencies and legal avenues.
