Great Lakes Home Renovations has been exceeding the expectations of homeowners in the Twin Cities and beyond since 1995. We specialize in bathroom remodeling. Of course, we also love visiting your project; in-home inspections and design consultations are always free. All of the products we feature come with a lifetime warranty, are low maintenance and easy to clean. We won't install anything in your home we wouldn't put on our own home. In Bathroom Remodeling, we feature solid-surface products by Re-Bath and Onyx (NO MORE GROUT) that are easy-to-clean, low maintenance, fit into most budgets and come with Lifetime Warranties. We take pride in doing the job right. In bathrooms, we don't just cover up the problem of an old tub or shower, but replace it. We not only have our own employees that do the installations but also pull permits, get inspections and even offer financing options. Doors
Work was completed quickly and well. They discovered an uninsulated cavity below the threshold and filled it with some leftover fiberglass insulation I had from a previous project. There was a dent in the door (tiny, didn't impact function) and they replaced the whole door slab, free of charge (factory defect, was not the installers' fault). Door is great.

They did a pretty good job, concerns I had was the first crew that was doing demolition, I found him (Hamad ?) smoking inside our garage with door to house open in late February. Our house smelled like smoke and we are non-smokers. When snow melted, our yard was full of butts which was just disgusting. The guys that did the install were very good, but the caulking they used was not paintable, made it very difficult to paint anywhere the surface butted up against the ceiling or walls

They were very much their way or the highway. We had scheduled them to come over to look and offer a bid. But for their sales pitch, they said, they needed 2 hours to do it their way, we only had scheduled an hour so they refused to come. They did not want to listen to us, they wanted us to listen to them. We have had several others over to take a look and no one else has been so self centered. I would definitely look elsewhere.

I was impressed with Great Lakes by how quickly the new windows were installed and how well the rooms were cleaned after they were completed. We did find a couple flaws in the screens after they left, and they were quick to order us new screens and it took just a couple weeks to deliver them. The windows are high quality- the rooms were warm in the winter (I didn't notice any drafts) and so far the rooms have stayed cool through the hot days we've had this summer. The windows also crank out easily without sticking or squealing.

Left d vanity in garage after demo. Placed electric box incorrectly in a finished bedroom. Now stud and insulation is visible. Mischarged credit card. Refuse to fix electric box and dispose of old vanity. I was told it was “5-7” job. Started July 16 and finished sept 27.

Great experience overall. Gary was a friendly, low pressure and informative salesperson and even stopped by during installation to check on us. Joe and Noah (the installers) were great to work with, did an excellent job replacing all 10 of our windows in a single day, and left our house as clean as they found it. I would definitely recommend Great Lakes to anyone needing windows replaced.

This rating is based solely on the customer experience. When I called to confirm the appointment, I was told that both my wife and I MUST be present for the estimate. I advised that my wife may or may not be present due to some medical issues, but her presence, or lack there of would not hinder the decision making. I was told again that she MUST be present. As the home owner and potential customer, that requirement was unacceptable to me. Rules are fine, but there needs to be some flexibility when dealing with customers.

Absolutely AWESOME experience with GL!!!! Mine started out as a kitchen project and when I was talking with them, I decided to do my bathroom as well, the price wasn't as scary as I thought it would be. Very friendly and respectful workers, they had my house and garage cleaned up better than I do! They were very flexible with timing and scheduling. In order to show me the sample of the backsplash, he showed up at 0615 so I wouldn't be late for work! That surprised me and was much appreciated. They truly go above and beyond in the process and to help understand the process. The part I truly appreciated is it wasn't just one quote. Modest, middle grade and high end pricing. You can see where the cost is going and then go from there to make it specific to your likings.

We couldn’t be more pleased with Great Lakes Home Renovations! From the beginning to the finish it was a great experience. Setting up the appointments, the follow through with reminders, to a visit from the salesperson, Jessie, to see the end product. Very thorough, friendly and professional. The installer, Mike D. was fantastic, he walked us thru the complete process, was meticulous with his work and was very accommodating, which was much appreciated because this was our only bathroom. The complete tear out of the old cast iron tub and wall replacing fixtures and installingtook only two days. Thank you Great Lakes!

Four key pieces of feedback regarding Great Lakes: 1) When presented with questions, communication breaks down readily. Throughout the course of our interactions, it was very unclear who was the key contact for reasonable questions about our project. When questions are finally answered, the tone tends to be dismissive and condescending, as if the questions were annoying or beneath them. 2) If they determine the project will be difficult, they will simply cancel your contract without any effort at all to discuss options with you. They will tell you in person that everything is fine, and then send an impersonal email dictating the contract is null and void. When approached about what to do next, their counsel will boil down to “not our problem”, without offering any resources or suggestions. 3) When feedback is given on areas that could use improvement, their response is that customer service standards used in reputable, well run businesses are not relevant to their industry, disregarding reasonable suggestions as irrelevant. 4) They are quite willing to make a sale, to tell you what you want to hear to sign a contract. Every single issue that they considered problematic when they abruptly canceled on us (after we had already made expensive purchases for the remodel) were discussed on the initial meeting, and were reportedly “just fine”. Understand, the initial sales person may not know what they are talking about, getting you hooked into something much bigger and more complicated than they lead you to believe.

We cancelled your agreement and gave you a full refund. We considered all factors when we came to this difficult decision, after re-visiting the many phone calls and e-mails we had received from you. Since we knew you had expressed (what we had interpreted as) regret over your contract, we felt confidently that, by letting you out of your agreement, we would be doing the right thing. We wish to clarify we felt this decision was doing the right thing by you. It is for this reason the following feedback is so hard to read. The second reason we are saddened to see this is we feel we really gave you our best effort to make your project work. Of course, it is always hard to admit when your best just isn't enough, especially considering our many happy customers, but as a business this is sometimes the choice we are forced to make. After our Production Team looked closely at the details of your remodel we decided that as a business, we could no longer guarantee you would be satisfied with the overall result. Rather than present you with something at the end that displeased you, we wanted to make it right by you and admit our inadequacy. It was very nice to meet you and your family, and we wish to apologize for any inconvenience or hurt feelings that occurred. Our only regret is that we would have come to this conclusion sooner. We wish you all the best and hope your bathroom remodel is all you hoped it could be!"

Happy with sales staff meeting my needs. Others I tried didn't listen to what I wanted, and were expensive. Workers were wonderful working with the many suprises during the remodel. Multiple layers on both floor and walls, and we found tile under tub that needed asbestos testing. Good with daily cleanup, and punctual. Finished bathroom is so pretty now.

It went very well. It was amazing to see the end product. It was quite a transformation. Josh and Jim did great work. The workmanship was top notch. They were friendly, professional and offered excellent advice. They arrived on time and cleaned up after each day's work. As it was the only bathroom in the house with a shower we were very pleased that the job only took four days from start to finish.

Joe and his guys got it all done in 2 days. In fact all the windows were in the first day with all the interior trim completed and the second day was for exterior trim and the inspector. They were professional, clean and personable. We were excited about the windows and enjoyed having them around.

They didn't rush us to decide what we wanted, in fact, we changed our minds and went a totally different route. We had an obsolete desk area in the kitchen and as we requested they specially created a cabinet area to hold a beverage fridge and a wine rack. Everyone arrived when they said they would, they asked us daily if we had any questions regarding the progress on the project, and they finished when they said they would. In 7 days we had a brand new kitchen with quartz counter tops with a new sink and faucet.

I've had Great Lakes replace windows in my house 2 separate times (I'm replacing a few windows at a time vs all at once) and they've been great to work with.
