Description of Work: We had not had occasion to have an appliance repaired in many years. Our ice maker broke and we called Art Adams. It is clear they are a big company with some sort of central dispatch. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. They were prompt, efficient and most importantly had a replacement ice maker on the truck so it was a one stop job. Would not hesitate to use them again.

Description of Work: Stand alone freezer was not working. Water was all over the floor. The technician said the freezer needed a new relay switch. Replaced the switch and all was fine. In September we went to our cottage for 6 weeks. The freezer was never opened during this time (September 17 - October 26). When my husband went down to get ice cream on the Sunday night after we came home, the floor was covered with water and when he took the ice cream from the freezer, the box was completely thawed out. Have no idea how long it was like this. First thing on Monday morning I called their office and said that the freezer was doing the same thing now that it had been doing on June 21st. Within the hour the technician was here. After about 5 minutes he came up to tell me that the freezer was leaking freon and was not repairable. Charged me $94.00. (89.00) by the time he took a 5% discount for our being senior citizens; . $35 for a service call and the remainder because it was not worked on. What a rip off. Today, when we went to empty the freezer, everything was frozen solid. I call to let the company know and requested that I at least be refunded part of my last $89 contribution to his firm. Naturally, he states that the technician diagnosed the problem as a freon leak and there was nothing further to discuss. This little episode cost me at least $1500 in food that has been thrown away and almost $400 to Art Adams Firm. I would like to ad that the freezer is still working. When the repairman left, he pulled the plug. Just to satisfy my curiosity, I plugged the freezer in. Has never stopped running since then. The person I talked to at Art Adams, some man, says that the repairman is one of his best and won't even discuss the problem. I am going to contact them tomorrow because besides the money that they were paid by me, I also had to locate someone to haul the old freezer out of the basement, find someone to empty the old freezer and find a new freezer. When the freezer continued to work, I had to cancel the new freezer and the help to remove the old. That cost me a hundred or so dollars. I think you should take this company off the books.

Description of Work: He came to check out my refrigerator which was not working. On the estimate he wrote that he gave a written estimate with more service required. $59 for the service call, $25 for the labor.

Description of Work: I called them to fix a Kenmore Elite oven, that had an F1 error message. They came to diagnose the problem. The service man came in a truck with a different name than Art Adams. The service man did not take anything apart. He pressed a couple of buttons on the panel and declared that we would need a new electric operating control system and that the repair would cost $700 and take 3-4 weeks to get the part. I did not have them do the work so that I could get a second opinion. They still charged a service fee, but didn't even attempt to fix the problem. He offered a 10% discount for cash payment.
