When I called, I told him what I thought the issue was - that the foot had become loose and the machine needed balanced. He declined to give a quote over the phone, and he was on time, waived the service charge, and spent 15 minutes to balance and level my existing machine using only my own parts. There's only a 30 day guarantee on labor, and I feel like the price was way too high. I confirmed the price with his home office and they wouldn't budge. The work itself was fine, but I think the price was a bit much. I could see $100, but not $165.

The service technician was prompt. After "diagnostics", he clearly outlined what he thought the problem might be and the steps he would take in repair. Unfortunately he did have to wait about a week and a half for a part, but came out promptly upon its arrival. It didn't do the trick however and further part replacement would have lead us close to if not over the cost of the machine. We ended up paying only for the technician's time and were reimbursed for parts. The machine went to the curb, but we were dealt with fairly, promptly and courteously.

Very reasonable and fair prices. He also offered a 5% senior discount and they also offered a free service repair call if the appliances are fixable. The service call is 59 dollars as opposed to GE's 89 dollar service repair call charge. If they can fix the appliances, they will waive the fee totally! He was also very nice and he showed up on time. He was also very professional. Joel is very satisfied with the results!
Description of Work: I actually take care of a man named Joel, and I had Art Adams Appliance Repair come out today to fix appliances for him. They repair alot of small and large appliances. We had two appliances that needed to be fixed. The first was a GE oven range from 1987. He came in and he put a new heating element in it and it is working great. The second was a GE 2010 sensor microwave oven. It went on the brink this past weekend, and we found that it was a faulty wire from the manufacturer. He fixed that it works great!

Only time I was very pleased with this company was when I called them at 8:30 am to make a same day appt. and they were able to provide me with one. Unfortunately the window they gave me was from 11 am to 6 pm (needless to say that is waste of the entire day.) The majority of other repair services I'm used to dealing with offer windows of 2 to 4 hours. On the phone they told me that the visit was free and it was a $40 and quot;diagnosticand quot; charge. But when the repairmen showed up - he told me it was $40 plus an additional $59 for pulling into my driveway. Came in, looked at my dishwasher for 30 secs, told me the problem would cost me $328.00 to fix or $99 to leave (the $40 diagnostic and the $59 for just pulling up) and that I would have wait almost a week for my part. Ridiculous!! And they claim on their website to have parts for all of these brand name appliances. I called to speak to the manager and he completely lacks any ability to deal with customer service issues. Last thing I will say..I have 2 small children and cannot go 6 days without a dishwasher and yet have to waste another day off from work waiting for them as they give me another 7 hour window of when they would show up. Extremely disappointed but the good news is that Angie's list provides us with options...

WE normally give a 2-4 hour window on our service call . We were already booked up the day you needed emergency service. That is why we had to give you a 11-6 time frame to accommodate you. We did arrive at 3:00.Our ad says free service call with repair, the diagnostic fee is in addition to service call and or repair. You were that told on phone when you scheduled service, and you signed and authorized those charges with the technician before he looked at your dishwasher. We normally complete 90% of repairs the first time out unfortunately we can't carry every part for every appliance. We apologize you weren't happy with our service. By the way you forgot to mention that you refused to pay the technician.

Obviously those 3 different times weren't too good. We had a terrible time with them, we do not recommend them to anybody. At the end of it, we did tell them we kind of lost confidence in them because you pay but they did bad with the dryer, we wanted a refund and just go somewhere else but they said we're not going to get a refund. They weren't very nice to us either. We called them over because our daughter had problems with the dryer. They came over and said it was a thermostat and they replaced it. The very next time she used the dryer, within 20 minutes, it was dead again so we called them again so they sent somebody over again and they said it's probably a defect on the thermostat so they replaced it again and 30 minutes later after she used it the first time, it was dead again. That's when I called them and asked for a refund so we can go somewhere else but they said we're not going to get a refund. They sent a guy a third time over, it was a different guy this time and he found out that there was a short in the dryer that could not be fixed and it was not the thermostat so he said the dryer is dead. They said they will give me a partial refund on the part but as far as the service call and the diagnostic, we still had to pay for that. It was a totally bad experience. They charged us the first time for the diagnostic fee, the service charge which is different from the diagnostic fee and they charged us for the part and they have a 30-day parts and labor guarantee so they did come out for free the rest of the times but they didn't fix it and the third time they came over, it's dead. We tried to talk to the guy in charge and I didn't get any satisfaction and despite that, he argued with me, a customer, on the phone. Even if they did diagnose it wrong, he was still very professional about it, he didn't really know and it wasn't until the second guy came out that he was able to determine that it was not the thermostat. I'll never use them again.

I told them what the washing machine was doing and all he did was listen to it and would need to replace the pump motor. I paid the $45 and $59. When he left I got on the internet and look at the problem. I pulled the pump motor out and cleaned it. Put it back together and now the washer works just fine. The problem I had with the tech was that I told them that they didn't inspect anything. I feel they were trying to hustle us for money. If he would of seen the part he would of known that it wouldn't had took that much.

Art Adams appliance repair has horrible customer service. They only had 4 data points (reviews) on Angie’s list so I was a little skeptical at first but decided to give them a shot considering those 4 reviews were positive. Bad Mistake!! I called them up with all intentions on scheduling a service call for our Range, but after talking to their receptionist (gave his name as Bob?) was happy it went no further. Bob was very condescending and rude. I called the company and explained the problem I was having with my range to the receptionist, the guy asked me several quick questions surrounding the situation and said he could send someone out. I asked him to explain the cost policy (service call fee, diagnostic fee, etc...) and he was not very clear and short. When I asked more probing questions to fully understand their policy, Bob explained to me that is was “VERY SIMPLE!” and then proceeded to hang up on me. I was shocked that a company would have someone employed within their organization with so little regard for their potential customer base and better yet, have that person answering their phone. I immediately called back to 1.) Ask for the guy’s name, and 2.) Ask why he hung up on me. 3) Speak with the owner / or Manager on duty to explain to them about the horrible experience I had just received from their business. The same man answered the phone again and I asked him for his name, he would not answer me initially and kept saying how can I help you, I explained to him that he could help me by giving me his name and letting me speak to the owner. Of course he only gave me his name… Bob is what he told me, and he definitely was not going to forward my call to one of his superiors. I don’t blame him considering the service he just gave me. Would stay clear of this company if I were you, I am just glad they showed their ugly hand before they came out to our home. Then we would have been on the hook for a lot more! What we will never know because Bob never explained it properly!!
Description of Work: We were having trouble with our Kitchen Range. We were having sparks come out behind the range when we attempted to move it and it tripped the breaker. We unplugged the range and wanted this company to service the range to identify what the problem was. They never made it out to service our appliance as documented below. Our experience was horrible.

I do wish that the repair the first time would have fixed the problem, but Brad had stated it was either one part or the other. We have used this company before, and they are very punctual and good at explaining the problem. They clean up the work area, and take the time to let me clean out behind the appliances before they are put back in place.
Description of Work: The clothes dryer would not turn off when using the sensor drying mode. It also started to fail to turn off when I used the timed drying cycle. The technician, Brad, first replaced the thermostat. The problem was not resolved, and he had to return about 10 days later to replace the timer instead. Now the dryer turns off instead of frying my clothing. I had to pay an additional $21.20 on the second visit, as the part was more expensive than the one installed the first time.

Did not have them perform the work and when I called the managed and asked him about the additional $35 fee he told me that his person told me this in advance and it was not going to get it back. Called and talked to the owner and receive the same rude response. I tried to explain to them what happen and he told me too bad and they already got their money from my wife. Bet they would not have done that if I was home. Stay away from these guys !!
Description of Work: Service tech showed up and then requested an additional $35 to diagnosis the refridgerator. I was not home so wife told them OK becasue she thought I had agreed to this. Their estimate was very high and I would have never paid them $59 to show up and then $35 to diagnosis the problem. These guys are a rip-off.

I am very happy with them and they always fix all my large appliances. They always get it fixed and it is always the price they quote. They do excellent work and they are very professional people. I had at least 5 major appliances repaired by him. The price depends on the appliance that broke. It was all redone in the house and they had the parts to rebuild and they were able to do that.

They showed up on time (a rare treat!) and got right to work. The guy that came out had all the tools and parts needed and it only took him about an hour to fix the thermostat in our fridge and our jammed ice maker. He fixed the GUI outlet we plug the toaster into, too while he was at it.

Over it was good. They came out the next day after I called them and came out at the time they said they were going to and got it fixed up pretty quickly. It costs more than I would have liked. The cost was for a service call and diagnostic and that was just $90 alone.

They first came out to determine what the problem was. They came out when they said they would. They later ordered the product and came back a couple of days later to install it. They were very prompt and very efficient. They were very good, but a little bit expensive. I don?t know if anybody else would?ve been less expensive because it was a major part that got replaced. I have used them before probably five or six years ago. They have always been pretty good, that?s why I called them again for this issue.

I have used this company for two other appliances and had good experiences each time. I made the call in the morning and the serviceman was there by mid afternoon, he was the same technician that had come to my house a year and a half before for my refrigerator. It is nice to know they have long term employees. The oven was diagnosed and the part replaced in less than thirty minutes. This company gives you a time frame in which to expect the repairman, also calls you when they are on the way to your house and they arrive right on time; this is a great customer service! They also offer a ten percent discount on the repair if it is paid in cash.

The shut off valve was behind the refrigerator (I do not have a basement) and could only be reached by pulling it our from the wall. This I could not do so I needed help immediately. Art Adams has same day service.
Description of Work: I had an emergency with a water leak in the refrigerator ice maker. (Filled a five gallon bucket every forty minutes) Two ofther companies would not come out today. Art Adams did. They explained their service and pricing rules and gave a four hour window for coming out. They were there in two hours. Larry, the technician was very polite, helpful and cleaned up afterward.

I knew what was wrong with it - the spring broke to the door and the door was heavy. He came out (I called him because of his ad in the yellow pages - free service call with repair, plus save 10% when you pay cash). He came out and took off the bottom panel. The spring fell out just as we had told him. It wasn't the spring that was broken, it was the plastic spring retainer. He gave a price of $59 for the service call, $25 for the diagnosis charge, $70 for the part, tax of $4.20, labor of $119 for a total of $218.20. I said "no way are we going to pay $218 for a little tiny part that we knew what was wrong with it. He charged us for the service call and the diagnosis. We paid him for that and told him not to come back. Then I called Maytag customer service and found out that the part cost $4.20 and they are sending it out to us and that anyone could put it in. It is a 5 minute job, but it was a very costly mistake for us.

The technician was polite, took his time to explain what was causing the problem. He was thorough and reviewed all the contributing factors, that he felt was causing our appliance to malfunction. Even though we paid $84.00 and no actual repair took place, the cost of his advice was well worth it, since I was able to perform some of the work myself later.
Description of Work: The technician, Mike was unable to perform the work, due to circumstances beyond his control. However, he gave us an excellent assessment of what the problem was, and advice on what we could do to mitigate the problem. I followed his advice and there seems to be an immediate improvement. The advice was well worth the expense, even though the technician, was unable to do any actual repair.
