Response from Multi Construction Services
"We never like it when our customers are not happy with us, for any reason. It literally hurts our feelings as we put our heart and soul into trying to deliver excellent customer service to our customers. To receive a "D" rating because of price is something to which we feel that we need to respond. Our response to this particular review is as follows: 1.) We did not work for this customer. 2.) We offer competitive pricing. The work that we quoted included 5/8" drywall on the ceiling and 1/2" drywall on the walls of a bathroom for both labor and materials. Our measure had more board than mentioned in the review. The work included a touch up after the prime and a warranty. The work also included a full day's worth of fixing work on the first floor that someone else had started but had not finished. We would then have to come back the next day to sand this work on the first floor. This type of floating is labor intensive and requires a lot of plastic and protection to ensure that the dust is completely contained. We do not know who did the original work on the first floor, but we feel that you get what you pay for and we were being asked to clean up the first floor because someone else failed to complete their responsibility. 3.) The work that was to be done at this home would be done by our employees which is a standard practice on the work we do for homeowners. The discussion of hiring a crew is not accurate (we understand that terminology may have gotten confused as we refer to groups of our employees as crews). We pay competitive wages and benefits to our employees, have them fully insured, and we spend a lot of time and effort to train them. 4.) We make every effort to meet our appointments. We normally give a very small window of an appointment time in order to accommodate the needs of our customers. Not very often, but it does happen when we have to call to postpone the appointment for any number of reasons - including having to deal with an issue at an earlier time. We are always apologetic when this happens and it doesn't happen very often. Based upon the comments, it sounds like this was done in advance which is what we strive to do."

"In over ten years of doing this, I don't recall ever having this problem before! Our sincere apologies to the Mr. [Member Name Removed] In reviewing this situation with our carpenters, there were apparently some communication failures between internal personnel that occurred. We believe we have rectified this situation in the future."

The work was very good but pricey. Also, they did not remove outlet covers before working and so they got stuck on the walls.

For the most part everything well. Unfortunately there was a small damage to the carpet due to one on the painter inadvertently stepping on it with paint on their shoes. However, Shane, the owner, stepped up to his responsibility and replaced the damaged carpet. I would definitely use him again

Dan came out and gave me the estimate and he was great throughout the entire project.  The rest of the company was very mediocre and the work was below average until Dan jumped in at every stage to fix it.  I had the drywall on a kitchen ceiling replaced, a couple of walls redone and an archway dry walled leading into another room for a kitchen remodel.  Very simple job for an experienced company.   To start with, the estimate I received was supposed to have a 10% discount for mentioning Angie's List.  There was no discount on the estimate and when I asked about it they told me it was already built into the estimate even though it wasn't shown on the estimate thus I probably never got it. They started the work on time but the drywallers left loose screws in my ceiling, didn't screw off the corners properly and totally butchered the archway.  They tried to back cut 1/2" drywall about a million times instead of using two layers of 1/4" flex drywall which is the way it was supposed to be done.  Looked like h*** so I re-drywalled the arch myself before the taper came out. Dan fixed all the other things the hangers did wrong himself and apologized over and over for the shoddy work.  Then the taper came out, who was supposed to be great and couldn't get the archway correct.  He kept trying to put sharp angles on the walls next to the arched opening and they weren't straight. The angles needed to be rounded to look right so, once again, I did it myself to get it right.  Dan was very apologetic and told me he would discount the job because of all the problems I had.  Then 3 days after the tapers were done a crack started to appear on the ceiling coming off an existing wall.  I called Dan and he sent another finish guy out to use brown bag Durabond to try to cover the crack and fix other areas that needed to be touched up after being primed.  That happened because the drywallers ended a ceiling piece on the same line as an existing crack when they went over the old ceiling with the new 1/2" drywall.  They should have staggered the seam so it didn't end at the same place. Currently the crack has not come back but I'm sure it is just a matter of time.  Then I waited forever to get the revised invoice with the discount Dan had promised me.  Since it never arrived I sent an email message through the "contact us" on their website telling them to send me the new invoice so I could pay my bill.  Still no response.  One week later I have people calling me asking me for payment because my balance was overdue.  When I then called their office the next day the girl working there, who sends out the bills and thus she was fully aware of who I was, got real snooty with me and claimed that she sent me the revised bill twice via email.   I told her I never received it so I had her send it to my email while I was on the phone.  Sure enough, she had written down the wrong email address and was sending it to "nowhere".  Funny thing is she had the right email when she sent me the original estimate. Go figure!   Dan was great throughout the entire project and he kept working very hard to run interference and put out the fires caused by very mediocre workers at every level.  If it wasn't for him I would have given them a worse grade.  They have a lot of good reviews on Angie's list but for the life of me I don't understand why.   Maybe I just had everything go wrong which could go wrong but I doubt it.   You better know something about construction if you hire them because you will be fixing some of the work you paid them to do.  I also told them they need to show the discount on the estimate so people know they are actually getting it.

Very responsive.  Dan contacted me and worked me into his schedule quick.  Job done at or above expectations.  Price was very reasonable.  Satisfied start to finish.  I will use them again should I need anything related to drywall.s

Couldn't be more pleased. John also was able to provide helpful advice at the time of the initial estimate and his team was very flexible about accommodating their schedules to those of the other sub-contractors.
Crew members always arrived on time and did an amazing job of cleaning-up at the end of each day.
Also appreciated the minimum amount of drywall dust that was created over the course of the project.

He was perfect. He was fine, he seemed thorough, he seemed to investigate the scope of the job in detail and I haven't decided who I am going to go with, so I am looking for other quotes to make sure he is fair. He was very prompt. He returned my call, he was timely, and he gave me the quote timely.

The response rate was excellent.  All of the guys were really fantastic - clearly knew their stuff, very hard workers, very interested in customer satisfaction.  When we needed something removed/cleaned up/ otherwise handled - one call and it was done.  They worked Saturdays and holidays (December 31st) to meet the timetable.  We had a problem with the new laundry room cabinets, but for the most part, I felt they tried to right it in a hurry and deliver as promised. I would definitely use Multi-Drywall again - they do SO MUCH MORE THAN DRYWALL!!!  Who knew!  I'm glad I do now!
