GORDON TREE & SHRUB

I am sure the tree service would be great, if you were to get past the receptionist. I made an appointment but cancelled it because the approach of the receptionist was not very customer oriented. I figured that if I was feeling that way from the beginning, my experience was not likely to improve. I bet the tree work would have been fine but why move forward when you had bad feelings from the beginning. There are too many other choices available.

They arrived when promised, did what they promised to do, didn't leave a mess when they were finished. I was so pleased with their work that I hired them to do more work.

Jim gives a detailed worksheet of the trees he feels need work done. I need to decide on what I want to get done and give them a call back soon.

Very nice, knowledgeable, competitively, priced, prompt and cleaned up when work was finished. Definitely recommend and would use again.

I've been using Jim's company since about 2000. I've always been happy with the work he and his crews have done around our house. Normally the work consists of trimming bushes and shrubbery with some larger limbs removed periodically. The work done is always professional and they clean up well then they're finished. His opinion is valued in helping to maintain our property.

We had to call several times to try and schedule an estimate. They arrived within the time frame stated. He felt that the job was too much for what his company could handle and gave us a contact number for another company, which was appreciated. I felt somewhat dismissed by his ignoring my concerns on certain trees that he felt wouldn't be a problem (I feel they are already a problem). I will see what this new company has to say.

A big job done efficiently. We are very pleased with the end result and plan to ask Gordon back in the fall for additional trim work.

They give 30% off; I just have to check some quotes from some other companies because I just thought it was a little bit too expensive for my budget line out. That is all I did so far. I have to go back and search for more options. He was wonderful. He was very helpful. He is the company owner. He is very knowledgeable. He gave me an honest advice. He is very passionate about his job. I had some problems with some trees and he was very positive about everything. Also, he actually gave me some advice for other companies like landscaping companies, something that he does not do, but he also gave me advice on his professional experience. He was very helpful. The only thing that I need to check is the price; I want to check with other tree services first of all because I do not know his place. If it had been within my budget I would not even checked another person, because he was very knowledgeable.

I liked him a lot. He answered all my questions and gave me his honest opinion. If I asked him about something that needed to be done, he gave me his honest opinion or some things I asked him he suggested that we leave it and not do it. I just felt he was honest.

We had a large tree uprooted last week during heavy storms. The tree fell across our drive and was braced by another tree on the other side of our driveway. Eventually, the tree was going to fall and block our drive. We called Gordon's Tree and Shrub Sunday afternoon. Jim Gordon returned our call at 7:30 am, Monday morning. He came out to the house first thing that morning and gave us an estimate. We found the estimate to be fair and accepted the estimate.. Jim was working in the area and was able to remove the tree later that afternoon. He and his crew came in the afternoon, on time, and removed the tree, hauled it way and completely cleaned up the area where they were working. Jim and his crew were very professional and worked in a timely manner on the task. Marc Shaye and myself would highly recommend Gordon's Tree and Shrub and have asked Jim to give us estimates on future projects

Emailed for estimate, and they called and came out a few days later and gave good estimate. Scheduled for the work, came out and then decided didn't feel safe getting into the wires to trim the trees. I don't have an issue with not doing the work due to safety. The trees are in wires. My issue is that they should have realized they couldn't do the job at the time of the estimate (the trees were in wires then too!) so I don't waste my time and they don't waste their time scheduling appointment time. We've both wasted a morning -- me staying home, waiting, only to have the job not done and need to start the process over.

This is the second year I have used Gordon's and I highly recommend them. The owner Jim Gordon is very competent and does not try to push additional unnecessary work during the estimate. Jim is also very generous in sharing his expertise including how to care for your trees and shrubs yourself. Jim is on the job site during the work and his crew is efficient, friendly, and careful. Lastly, and most importantly, they do great work and my trees looked wonderful after they were done (as did the work they did for me last year).

Jim came out, but said the job was too big for him to handle at a good price. I appreciated his honesty. However, he then spent about 30 minutes with me walking my property and providing advice on tree car and maintenance. Every suggestion he gave he told me how to handle myself and didn't push for business. I was so happy I offered to buy lunch and he wouldn't even take that. Super nice guy and seemed totally trustworthy. Would contact again should a smaller job come up.

This is the 3rd time Mr. Gordon and his team have pruned my trees, and as usual, his price is competitive. Jim Gordon has a Bachelors Degree in Urban Forestry, and his team work efficiently and clean up afterwards.

They removed a tree, some bushes and trimmed/pruned a couple of bushes. They look great now! I liked how they showed up, performed the work quickly and efficiently, cleaned up as they were working, and they were very helpful and knowledgeable.

When I asked them if they serviced my area, they said that they do not normally service Pontiac. A couple of days later, they called back and attempted to schedule an appointment. I declined as I had already scheduled an appointment with another company.

We have a beautiful 125 year old sugar maple in our back yard that suddenly developed a split in a large branch. Above all we wanted to save the tree. The 1st tree service we had come for an estimate said the tree was rotten and should be cut down, for $2500. Mr. Gordon, the owner and who has a degree in Urban Forestry from Michigan State, came out in the evening (so my husband could be here,) and gave us his free evaluation and estimate. He appreciated the beauty of the tree as much as we do, and said just the split branch could be cut and the rest of the tree would be fine. We also had a dead scotch pine in a row of Arbor Day planted pines - seedlings planted by my 3 boys 25+ years ago - that he agreed to remove at the same time. The work was done this morning, less than a week after the estimate. In one hour, from start to thorough clean up, Mr. Gordon and his crew of six (mostly family members) took care of both jobs. They arrived when they said they would, they worked extremely efficiently together, they raked the back yard and the path to the chipper when they were finished, and blew the driveway clean before they left. I was very impressed with their job! We will definitely be using them again for any future service needed and recommend them highly to anyone who needs tree service. We feel the $513 was a fair price for the magnitude of work done. By the way, Mr. Gordon gave us a 10% discount for mentioning Angie's List at the estimate appointment.

They are very good. I would recommend them highly. I liked everything. Mr. Gordon came out himself. He explained what exactly had to be done and why it had to be done and what the down side was if you didn't do it. He appeared to be very credible. You don't find too many good people like that. The price was realistic. I am not going to tell you six hundred dollars is a bargain. At the same time we priced it out with others and they were in the ball park. They were very responsible. Mr Gordon was on the job all the time. All of his people were very professional. He also gave me a fertilizer that was effective on these type of shrubs.

They gave me a great price. Some of the branches were trimmed and stuck in the trees. The limbs were dying so they came out to remove them. I am calling them to trim the trees again this fall.

They did a great job. They are a very good company. We had them trim our shrubs. The owner was out himself working along with his crew. He just didn’t trim the trees, he tried to make it as aesthetic as he could too. He did a good job. The people who came to work were all good. They were in line with the others in terms of price. I would recommend them and would absolutely use them again in the future.

We have used this service several times over the last eight or so years. He has thinned out trees, removed others, pruned shrubs, etc. He is always competively priced, professional, knowledgable, and nice.

They were working at a neighbors and came down after that and gave me an estimate and completed the work in one afternoon.

I?ve been dealing with them for years and they are excellent. I have recommended this company to my neighbor. They charge what everyone else pretty much charges.

The job went well. It was completed in a timely manner , they cleaned up and the bill was exactly what the estimate was.

They did a great job. We spent about $200. We use them for other tree services. They are very reliable. When we asked them to come out right away they did come immediately. I don?t know if they are the cheapest service but they do a good job. They clean everything up. We are happy with them. We are planning to sell our house. I don?t know what our future needs for them will be. However, if we do stay here we will use them in the future.
