I had removed carpets and prepped upstairs for hardwood installation.  Hardwood (builder grade Bruce hardwood) matching the first floor (and Rosin paper) purchased from Lowes at $3.99 ft2 ($3.76 final price due to 10% off with moving discount plus delivery fee).  I needed someone to do the installation only.  I was quoted the price of $2.50 which is fairly reasonable compared to Lowe's.  Though it actually was not the lowest, I chose Goldenway because it is BBB accredited and a women-run company

I called May on Tuesday.  She was able to come over on Thursday to check out the work site and sign the scope of work.  I asked her to add the removal of a build-in shelf in the master bedroom closet.  No extra charge so that was nice.  She shuffled a couple of things around and was able to get a team of two at my place Friday morning and they finished the master bedroom and hallway before they left for the day to finish another job.  They came back Saturday and finished the job in under 2 hours for 1 small room.

The workers were friendly and cleanup up after themselves.  I think it was generally a easy experience.  The floors look great but I am torn between giving the workmanship an A or B.  I noticed some squeak in the hallway,  I am not sure if that is just normal or if it is something they should have noticed and addressed.  Time will tell.

May was super responsive and asked if she could send the guys back to take a look at the problem as soon as I told her about the issue.  Well done.

 Dos and Don'ts:

If I had to do it all over again, I would forget Lowes and just gone straight to Goldenway as they are suppliers of hardwood.  I could have saved money (about 26 cents a square foot) and hassle (Lowes still has yet to call me back regarding the box that was damaged during delivery) .  I was told that it would have been $6 materials and labor through Goldenway include removal of the carpet even!
