My bike fell over in the wind when I had it on the kickstand. Didn't think much about it and simply picked it up. Later when I went to shift, the derailleur caught and wedged into a rear wheel spoke. It wouldn't budge. Some men who knew about bikes came along the trail and tried to help. They had to take everything apart to get it out of the wheel, so I could at least walk it back to the car.I took it to the bike shop first where I bought the bike less than a year ago (McLain's in Traverse City, MI). It took three days just to get an estimate, then I was quoted by McLain's $160 to fix the bike, and they wouldn't be able to get to it for two or three weeks.
That didn't sit well, so I picked up the bike and took it here, to Einstein Cycles. In a half hour while I waited, the mechanic fixed it and also replaced a cable that was looking bad.....all for $22. The derailleur works fine, only needed a little straightening NOT replacing as the other bike shop claimed. The mechanic at Einstein Cycles knew exactly what he was doing and not only fixed the bike, but took it out and tested it to be sure it was operating smoothly. He was great!
