Doug's Handyman Service

Two handymen showed up to repair drywall in garage due to water damage and hang two pieces of artwork.
Drywall repairs were on inside wall of garage and garage ceiling.  They worked fast.  Towards the end, while one was finishing up in the garage, the other came in and hung the art work.  They were hung perfectly.
Upon inspecting the garage, I asked if insulation was re-installed around pipes to prevent pipe damage in both areas (as we had discussed previously).  They weren't to confident in they're response nor did I receive a straight answer...and I wasn't going to have them undo the work they'd just completed in order to check.  So I don't know if insulation was actually installed...I guess I'll have to wait and see how the areas hold up next winter.
Overall, neither of them were interested in small talk, or any kind of talk.  The one who put up the pictures was nice.  The one who remained in the garage was short, seemed anxious to be done and ready to move on.  Although I have no complaints about the work that was completed, I still don't know whether or not it was done as I'd requested.
I would not use this company again because of the overall awkwardness of the situation.  
I bought a deal for 4 hrs of handyman work for $149, however, it's not much of a deal for what I had them do.  It broke down to over $35/hr per man, and I think $35/hr. is a competitive rate.

We understood that he was coming that day but he didn't show.  When he returned our subsequent call, he said that the appointment was not for that day but for the day after.  He never showed up the day after & never called.  We did not contact him again and would never consider him to do any work.

I purchased the deal of 150$ for 4 hrs of work. Scheduling was some what difficult initially due to the difficulty in getting hold of them, but eventually satisfied with the work. Will use the service again.

Doug and the guy he had with him did a great job. They repaired a leaky pipe in our basement and did some plaster and drywall repairs. I've since emailed Doug about another project and he was able to give me a rough estimate over the phone, which helped me to make a decision on whether to hire the job done or not. I'm sure I'll be back in touch with Doug in the future.

I purchased "The big Deal" from Angie's list which was $150 for four hours of Handyman service. I spoke with Doug to set up a schedule and he was very pleasant and accomadating to my schedule. His business partner Jeff arrived on time ready to work! I had Jeff perform drywall repair, storm door hanging (which he had to customize the door frame in order to make it work), re-grout of a shower, deck repair, etc... Jeff did such a good job that I had him come back to perform more work. Jeff was very detailed, precise, and efficient. I will be calling Jeff in the future when I need handyman work done.

Two gentlemen in my home for 4 hours.  Friendly, professional and experienced.  I had list of things to do...electrical work, repairing light fixtures and hanging a new light fixture, replacing outside faucet (faucet and parts I had purchased from Home Depot), hardware work, door knobs replaced, several hooks placed in garage and other minor repairs were done.  My list was completed within the time frame.

I contacted Doug on Friday, March 14 on the basis of other reviews.  I got him while he was driving.  He told me to make up a list, suggested Monday evening at either 6 or 7 and asked that I e-mail him with the time and my address, which I did.  I waited at home for him.  My husband left work early in order to be there for the estimate of the work.  7:00 came and went.  I called him at 7:15 and got his voice mail.  I left a message.  It is now four days later and I never heard a word from him.  I would not hire someone that cannot even return a phone call, let alone does not show up when expected.

He did do the work. We were happy with the work. It was excellent and we'll be using him for our next project. I was very pleased with him because our sump pump wasn't working and we called, kind of an emergency type would you come. He showed up right away which we appreciated. Then it turned out the sump pump wasn't broken it was frozen. Rather than just replace it automatically, he took the time to figure that out, got it working, and then because he didn't have to replace it he had all this extra time so he did quite a few other little jobs that we hadn't expected because he was so efficient.

It went fine. Doug kept in touch prior to our scheduled date. He was very accommodating and punctual. I feel he did a lot while he was here. He was great about answering my questions. I hope to use his services again.

.This man is a person who has a lot of experience. He knows what he is doing. He was polite, easy to deal with, and he was patient as my husband  explained what he wanted to get done.  He arrived promptly and on short notice when we called him on a Saturday morning.  I had overloaded an electrical plug and it had sparked and died, shutting down nearby additional plugs. He asked me about the color and style of the plug that I blew out when I first called him. He arrived with a new plug, with the color and design that I specified. I did appreciate this attention to detail.  We had a great price from a coupon he ran on Angie's list so he stayed after fixing my plug and  worked on an array of problems we had with our electrical and phone wiring. Without complaint he crawled around our attic, made more difficult by air conditioner equipment in the attic. I liked him. I feel like I can trust him. Would hire him again with or without a coupon to work for us again.

It's impossible for me to sing the praises of Doug's Handyman Service any hirer: an incredible company with a stellar set of workers doing great work and very competitive prices. I had hired another Angie's List company to do basically all of the same things listed above and it took them a week to do what Doug's did in a day (and with some time left on the meter)! I feel horribly about forgetting the worker's name, but he was amazing from start to finish. I had planned on having my plumber - also an Angie's List company and a good one at that - install my sink, but he said he was a "pretty good plumber" and said he could handle it. Handle it he did and, in doing so, he saved me at least $350. The sink looks amazing, the paint and patch are both flawless and the shower curtain bar is finally at the correct height after five plus years! I had initially planned for a job painting my laundry room and the worker INSISTED that I find more work for him. Because he was willing and able to install the sink, I got to finish off my guest bathroom instead of waiting to secure an appointment with my plumber AND I got all the superficial/"extra" things I believed I needed yet another company to complete. As such, I will assuredly be calling Doug's Handyman Service to revamp my laundry room, because of both the quality of workmanship and the INSANELY good price point. Hire these guys - you'll be singing their praises from your rooftop, I promise!

Confirmed and reconfirmed the appointment.  However, they called on the day of service to let me know they would be 45-60 minutes late due to issue at current job.  Showed up only 30 minutes after original appointment time.  Very nice and professional.  Good work.  Even asked before they left if there was anything else they could do for me.

They plan ahead and determine how one part of the project will impact another part months down the road. They are perfectionists and set very high standards which is reflected in the finished project. I had laminate floor removed from living and dining rooms and replaced with hardwood. The tile in kitchen and hallway replaced with tile that did not crack within 2 months of installation. Kitchen cabinets, cupboards, sink and faucet replaced. Kitchen, upstairs hall, dining and living room painted, fireplace surround retiled, doors replaced, new porch steps constructed. Doug and his team were always pleasant, prompt, and a delight to work with. They are also very flexible; I had some odd time constraints they completely dealt with. They also cleaned out a water damaged basement, hauled away mounds of moldy damaged items, repaired the damage to walls and it is now a beautiful family room. I found my house unbearable and depressing. Thanks to Doug, I am happy at home once again.
