Rentals - Cars
i rented the car for one week. when i brought it back, i was told that the car smelled, faintly, of smoke. no one smoked in the car. they started out trying to charge me $250. i explained that one of my passengers was a smoker but we had pulled over to rest stops to smoke and we were nearby the car when this passenger smoked (outside the car, mind you). they would not listen to me. they ended up charging me $75 cleaning fee. i will never rent from budget again. i tried discussing this with several managers, to no avail. i wrote a letter to the corporate headquarters. just got a letter back from Adam Troxel, customer care rep. again, i was told that the charge would not be reimbursed. i know businesses are having a tough time but to falsely charge me for smoking in their rental to make more money from me is just plain wrong!
