Kopke Remodeling & Design Inc
About us
Our motto is "Your Remodeler for Life", as we strive to develop a 20+ year relationship with our clients. We treat our clients' homes as we would our own. Dave Kopke founded the business in 1993 after noticing undesirable trends in the industry. He wanted to do home improvement the right way, always keeping customer satisfaction his #1 priority. After word got around, our growth has remained consistent, with about 40% of business each year coming from past customers. In 2013, we moved to a much larger facility to accommodate our increasing needs while expanding our radius of travel. Much of our staff are lifelong employees, and many of our clients no longer feel the need to "get 3 bids". We are seldom the lowest bid, but as we like to say, we are "where quality and affordability come together". Once you experience Kopke, you will never look at remodeling the same.

They were a no show for our first appointment. My Fiancé took off work to meet them and they didn't show up. He called and they stated they knew they didn't show up but they were suppose to call.. No apologies. So they rescheduled for April 16th. She called at appointment time to say she was running late when she was already 30mins late. She showed up over an hour late. We had to be somewhere else so we had to give her limit time to see what needed to be done. Its been almost 2 weeks since we heard from them and we have no bid.
Dale was the installer. Very professional. Kept us in the loop at all times about when the install would be done. Worked with us on our schedule. No problems at all.
Door is exactly the one we wanted. They didn't normally stock the older-fashioned design we wanted, but they were willing to find it and buy it for us.
The only minor issues we had :
1. We had told them in advance that one main reason we wanted to get a new door was that the old one wouldn't close all the way on its own. The new one also had a problem with this. The installer said "they are all that way... there is air being compressed between the two doors". That differed from the saleslady's info. She said "No problem, we can solve that". So the problem here was inconsistent expectation setting.
2. Two days after installation, there was a minor dent in the door. We don't know whether it was there when we got it. It could have been our family members using a knee on it, since it was stronger to open/shut than the old one... that was what we had wanted. So I won't assume the dent came with the door.
"We have been out to her home on several occasions, (every time she called), to look at the job, and can't find anything wrong with the product or the installation. We explained the causes and cures for condensation and ants, but she still thinks something is wrong with our work. Unfortunately, she doesn't understand that windows don't attract ants, or cause condensation. We offered the name of a local exterminator, as well as literature from Glen Haege that explains condensation causes and cures, and how humidity needs to be controlled. Until she realizes that we are on her side, there isn't much else we can do. There is no 2 year warranty. In fact, we offer a lifetime warranty on all workmanship, (for as long as you live in the home). We are more than willing to meet again to talk it over, but she doesn't want to meet. I sent a letter offering information and requesting a meeting. Otherwise, we are glad to go to arbitration and vigorously defend our reputation."
"Throughout working with this client, we kept clear communication. Although our initial estimated budget turned out to be lower than anticipated, we informed them before proceeding with the design that it would cost more, and they agreed for us to go ahead. We gave accurate pricing, and the customer was aware of increased costs for large additional items, and asked for these to be priced out separately as options. As a company policy, we are thorough in outlining every aspect of the scope of each project, and we never underbid and then increase the price after the contract is signed knowing of expensive issues that will need to be addressed. Calling our design work childish is unwarranted and offensive. Our programs are expensive, up-to-date and in most cases more advanced then our competition. Our design services are a unique aspect that differentiates our company from many others. If you were to pay an architect for designs, you would be paying a greater amount for something of comparable quality. We are very sorry that we were not able to work together on your project."
"Sometimes customers get caught up in our process of purging bad employees. Unfortunately, we have to send our salespeople out and see if they can live up to our standards. Even if they interview well, it may turn out that they are not the type of people we want working for us. This is one of those situations. We would love the opportunity to show the client who we really are. Most of the time we are professional and competent, as the other reviews in here are mostly A's."
"The handyman in question was released due to poor performance. We have high standards, and all requests for quotes are intended to be fulfilled. We are now following up closer on all quotes."
We absolutely love our beautiful new master suite bathroom and custom closet remodeled/created by Kopke.
I cannot say enough about the fine craftsmanship I witnessed throughout the remodeling process. Sam is an absolutely awesome carpenter with a wealth of knowledge aiding in the finish design process. He and the rest of the work crew took such pride in their work; they made us feel like we were the number one customer even though they were busy as can be. Jake made sure we were kept in the loop on progression and due dates as well as helping out his crew when needed. He even went above expected by pinpointing times of arrival and hours expected for the work on any given day; this allowed us to decide how we would handle comforting our dog.
Having Jake, Sam and Will start the job was so refreshing; for us being prompt and passionate about one's work is essential;
we could not have had a better start than to have timely, friendly and respectful craftsmen show up at our door on day one. This team has such a strong work ethic, was very happy to be here, and was respectful to our family, including our bark crazy dog, as well as treated our home/property like their own and always leaving it tidy. This crew was extremely hard working with a lot of attention paid to detail to make sure everything was completed to perfection.
To Curt, Jake, Sam, Will, Bart, Vince, and Joe we say BRAVO!!! We don't know how to thank you enough for creating such a beautiful and tranquil space!
"Many thanks to the client for the positive review."
"Our computer records indicate that our salesperson had left you with a price, and we were waiting for you to call us back if you wanted to proceed. Sorry for the mix up! Never hesistate to call us with any questions at 586-777-6633"
