The first thing Scott required was a deposit for materials and a large deposit. Well over half the quoted price was paid. A start date was scheduled and promptly went by without work starting. when called several times Scott finally responded via txt the new start date. They showed up and worked fervently on the substructure. Then we waited for material. Scott then told us the manufacturer did something wrong and needed to re do the drawings and there would be an additional delay. Finally the crew (not Scott) showed up and continued the soffit portion until they ran out of material. A txt from Scott informed us it would take another week to get it. Phone calls would go unanswered and messages would get txt replies several days after being left. In the mean time the upper deck material still had not shown up. Once the soffit material arrived the crew showed up and finished the soffit. Then we heard nothing. Then Scott showed up with a boot cast claiming a tendon injury which would require a further delay of several weeks. We waited several weeks and no material or communication. Scott then texted us with the new schedule starting the next week. three weeks later after several prompts we received a call from Scott.
He was in a bind. Scott claimed that he had a client pay with a bad check and it caused his bank account to become messed up and he didn't have the funds to pay for the decking so it could be delivered. He was asking us to pay directly to the manufacturer for materials and would then deduct the amount from the final bill. Because we were so far into the project we decided to go a head with the promise that Scott and crew would get it done immediately when it arrived. He also assured us they would stay on it till it was complete. I contacted the manufacturer and discovered the material had been waiting for payment for over 6 weeks and they did not have to redo anything. Also the balance due was significantly more than Scott had told us. In fact it would end up costing more than the balance of the quoted job. We paid it and 3 days later it was delivered. A week later Scotts crew showed up and began. They were hit and miss with no communication from Scott. Then suddenly they stopped and I received a txt from Scott that the wrong mounting hardware was sent and they were waiting for the new hardware. When I contacting the manufacturing company
I found he lied again. they shipped new hardware 3 weeks earlier to replace Scott's miss order. We heard nothing from Scott after that. Now we have received a notice of lien on our property from one of the other suppliers that he never paid.
This guy is one of those guys that can't tell the truth and seems to be as crooked as they come. We re filing a formal complaint with the licensing bureau. We found out he has limited license from past issue. We are also considering our legal options.
Our recommendation would be "never ever hire Scott or believe what he says"
We plan to use Scott for additional projects in the future and would certainly recommend him to others.
"We pride ourselves in quality work and fulfilling our word. We never accept full payment, or even ask for it until contract is completed. Then we will add additional contracts if more work is desired. (member name removed) was a pleasure to work with and we would be happy to return and additional work was completed with a simple hand shake. We love customers like this."
