Tartan Plumbing Service

I had an excellent experience with Andy. He was prompt, responsive and provided an estimate that was more reasonably priced than a big box retailer and a local water heater specialist in my area. He didn't try to upsell me to a more expensive model which I didn't need and when we discussed including additional services (adding a drain pan and ventilation) his costs were about 50% what the others charge. I felt very good about my experience with Andy and Tartan Plumbing. I will call them for my next plumbing project, and would recommend them without hesitation.

We had moved out of state and our house was for sale. To prevent any possible damage to the pipes, we had Tartan Plumbing come and winterize the pipes. (The heat was on; it was mid-winter.) Then, the buyer needed to have the home inspected prior to sale, so we asked Andy Lindsay (Tartan Plumbing) to go to the house and de-winterize it so the inspector could test that the water worked and had good pressure.Andy went to the house in the middle of a major blizzard, coming from Saline to N. Ann Arbor. When he got there, the house was freezing cold. Instead of simply doing the work and leaving, he checked the furnace and found it was broken. He called us immediately and explained the situation, saying he didn't want to de-winterize if the heat wasn't functional, because our pipes would burst. He also gave us the name of a heating service when we asked, and correctly guessed the problem with the furnace itself. He didn't charge us even though he had gone there in a blizzard. Just by his conscientiousness, he saved us the huge expense of fixing broken pipes.We got the furnace fixed, and called him back. He went back right away, called us to confirm that the furnace was working, and de-winterized the pipes. After the inspector was done, he re-winterized - and gave us a discount for the repeat business! Even though his prices were very competitive already.I would highly recommend him as very conscientious, does great work, and trustworthy. If only we hadn't moved so far away, I would be using him at our new house. He was recommended to us by our real estate agent so I believe he also does work for them.
