No words can describe how happy we are with Sun Home Improvement.  In all aspects, they are simply the best.  They are everything you'd want from a contractor.  I'd never hire or consider anyone else.  Great people and great company.

We had Sun to our home to provide us with estimates and found them to be reasonably cost competitive.  They were by far the most personable company we'd contacted and their salesperson helped us figure out exactly what we wanted to accomplish with our repairs.  They did an excellent job of keeping us informed of the status of our work order.  Because there were multiple concurrent orders, when some of the materials arrived early they contacted us and scheduled that work ahead of the rest so that we could get things completed sooner.
They required multiple visits to complete the work, on every visit they did a good job of cleaning up the work site following their job (both inside and outside).  They followed up days later with either calls or visits to review the quality of the work and to ensure we were happy with their services.  Every visit was conducted professionally.
Not only were Sun professional but their crews were also nice guys.  On one of the last days on site, they crew that was working asked my wife if she would mind if they took a short break.  They used that break to help out my elderly neighbor who was raking leaves.  The crew grabbed a couple of rakes and helped her get her yard work taken care of in no time.
We had a really good experience with this company and would happily use them in the future.     

Jim the owner responded to my request for an estimate within 1 day.  He measured the windows and left me a color selection brochure.  That night I received an email with the quote.   When I called to say I would go with his company again he came back for final measurements within 2 days.   When he had an install date for me he called to schedule the work  and the crew installed on the date he gave me.  The installers  was very efficient, professional, and cleaned up all the debris to my satisfaction.  I'm very pleased with the windows and will use Sun Home Improvement again when I need to replace other windows.  I would highly recommend this company.

The workers were friendly, efficient and professional.  There were two problems which were both were handled responsibly and remedied.  The first person who came in and measured misunderstood or misnoted one window details and ordered the wrong window.  Upon realizing this, the project manager (Dave) came in and took the order for the correct window.  He called as soon as it was ready, and installed it.  There was one window that broke as the workers lifted it on a humid day with a suction-cup device that broke a hole in the window.  This window was quickly re-ordered, and we were not asked for any payment until both of those issues were fixed.
The windows look great, work smoothly, and are easy to clean.  I'm glad we went with the mid-level price windows.  I've been less impressed with the Pella French Door.  It is a confusing, non-intuitive locking mechanism, and still hard to lock/unlock.  I finally called Sun Home back to come and adjust this door in some way to make it easier to open. 

The 2 man crew was great, however we were told by our salesnam, James Voepel that it would be a 2 day job. The crew told us they were given 1 day by Dave (crew leader)

Jim, Dave, Brian were all very helpful and professional. Everything went smoothly and on a timely fashion. They replaced all the rotten wood under the windows as we requested. They cleaned up the property at the end of every day. We would use them again.

Picked the worse winter in history to have out side work done, Dealing with the snow. Made thing move very slowly, this was no fault of sun home improvement the weather was to blame..

Good communication.  The workers respected our property and described what they were doing.

The job went excellently from the quotes by  the owner, Jim, to supervision, customer service, and problem resolution by his sons.  Everyone we came in contact with were courteous, respectful, ethical, and had strong work ethics.  Sun was there when they said they would be.  The supervisor of the crew kept his team on track and, frankly, they worked their butts off in 90 degree heat.  They cleaned up after themselves each day.   There were problems with the Trapp entry doors that were promptly addressed.  The fault was with the manufacturer and not Sun.  But Sun addressed and resolved the issue.  Any minor issue we had was addressed and resolved just as promptly and importantly as if it were a huge issue.  We had also used Sun in the past for new windows.  Any new needs that arise, we will be calling on them again.

This will be the 4th or 5th time I have used Sun Home Improvement. There is a reason I keep going back to them. The manager Dave is outstanding to work with! Although I have used them repeatedly I ALWAYS get multiple quotes and time & time again Sun Home comes up with competitve estimates.
 
Of the 4 estimates I got done for this job they were the only company that suggested reusing the perfectly good siding I had instead of just trying to sell me new. This saved me money and was not unnoticed. They were also willing to try and salvage my gutter instead of instantly replacing it (although in the end it was decided to replace it) . Of all the companies they were the only ones that seemed to be doing everything possible to save me money!! What a relief. Dave was also the only one to indicate the roof might also need to go and be a source of some of my leaking problems. He was right. Had I gone with another company I would have had the nasty shock of suddenly finding out mid job my entire roof needed replacing.
When the vinyl siding was removed there was significant wood rot found above my windows. This was not included in the estimate but I was more then impressed with them as they did not try to gouge me on the added costs and believe they were extremely fair on their charges for this unforeseen problem. It took 2 days to complete the job due to the extensive damage to the wood, after the first day they did a great job of covering everything up for the 2 days (weekend) it would wait to get completed. Dave (the manager) was out at the job site repeatedly to check on the progress and always helpful, even when I am asking about repairs I plan to do myself.
The siding crew, really just one guy Chris, was polite and hard at work everytime I went to look at the progress. He was willing to answer any questions I had, always informing me of anything pertinent. He went around the rest of the house at no charge and nailed down some loose siding I had. He also made sure to level out the crossbeams across my bedroom ceiling before installing my new wood as it had been displaced because of the rot. I did not converse much with the roof crew as they were like a swarm of ants invading (in a good way:), heading immediately to work, working non-stop until it was completed, cleaning up like they had never been there, and then out.
Bottom Line: We are a budget oriented client and I find everytime I work with them that they do their best to help maintain the costs for me not pushing things on us that we don't need and repairing/performing all work to the highest of standards. Dave's estimates are always right on cue and accurate foreseeing problems other companies miss. They are trustworthy, always have competitive rates and great quality work. What more can you ask for. I would hands down recommend this company. I have used them for roofing, siding, windows, and doors over the years and have been more then pleased everytime. I will continue to go back to them for years to come.

Called several window companies (all from Angie's list). Sun's quote was the least expensive by at least $1000 for similar windows.
Window installation was slightly delayed from initial estimates due to weather--but that is to be expected given the weather dependent nature of the business.
This truly is a family company: The installation was done by three generations: Grandfather, father, and son all complaining about each other as families do--very entertaining. The quality of the installation was top notch: everything went smoothly, and for items that did not and/or required something exceptional the specifics were clearly explained what and why.
Installation was completed within two days time as quoted.
Now here we are 6 months out from the new windows with one of the coldest winters on record: The windows are performing exceptionally keeping out the cold and the heat in. Very pleased with our new windows.

We were so impressed with Sun and the owner Jim Voepel!   We hired them to do our outside door trim right after the new year.  The weather, however, did not want to cooperate.  With the frigid temps and them needing to caulk the trim we knew it would be recipe for disaster if the temps weren't above freezing.  Jim and his company kept us informed, generally calling 2 times a week letting us know they wouldn't be out that week.  We couldn't believe the communication we received from them!  When the trim WAS installed it looked great.  So great in fact, our white house now needs a power washing to match!  Will definitely use them again!

Mr Vopel did a great job up front with us.  We met many times and he never made me feel that we were imposing on him. I think that the quality of the siding installation is exceptional.  The attention to detail is extremely good and I am very pleased with it.    The only issues I had with quality was the window treatments and some of the trim.  Basically, the white window trim was not kept clean during assembly and consequently it was (and is still) dirty and stained.  Not to the point where I would really complain but I am only noting the difference in quality.  Also, some of the caulking and some of the mill work was not done to a high standard in some places ... again acceptable ... but not to the level that I would have really liked.  Lastly, the supervision was not to my liking.  The foreman was there every day and did a very good job, in general, but his supervisor was only occasionally there and that lead to some friction (I spoke to both of them and this lead to misunderstandings).  Again, more of a nit than an actual complaint ... they were very forthright with this and we, generally, worked it out.  Also, comments about our choice of black trim where made after we had no ability to change it ... good comments ... but provided too late to help ... maybe keep those comments to yourself?  In closing, good company, good people, quality work ... but I am very picky so my ratings may be a bit harsh.

The window crew and the siding crew were professional, extremely efficient and knowledgeable. They showed up to work and did a great job identifying and resolving issues. We were very impressed with  their efficiency and communication.

Calls always promptly responded to, all questions answered, no attitudes.  They forgot to take off the Angie's coupon on final payment.  When I reminded them there was no runaround and they promptly redid the final bill with an apology.  Good price, quality work, good customer service, promptness, thorough cleanup....what more could you ask for?
