Description of Work: We had an excellent experience with Oakley heating and cooling. We had a new high efficiency furnace and air conditioner installed. We were able to get two rebates and the price was a lot better than the other two bids I got.

It was probably a typical job. I was pleased with their service. The contact person Mark works real well with his office manager, so that I can get answers pretty quickly to my questions as I was deciding what to do. I was kind of happy with the main product that they used and they did a nice job. The installation was good and they kept to their appointments. They had a reasonable cost. The water heater is working and so that’s kind of a big thing. I will use them again in the future if I need to.
Description of Work: I used Oakley Heating and Cooling for my water heater replacement.

He comes every fall to check the furnace and clean it else it voids the warranty on the furnace. He has also done the central air unit outside and cleaned that. I am not real happy with them. It seemed that there were several things like when he came he just wasn’t very thorough with his job. I sort of felt like I was compelled to have to use him because I think he is one of the few people authorized to handle that furnace. I am not terribly happy with him. This time when he came, he actually charged me more than what they had told me in the email. I think it was because he had to add some Freon to the central air unit outside. He normally charges about $100 to clean the furnace. He is not easy to get a hold of and I thought that his work was kind of a little bit sloppy. Once you can get him to come, he is punctual. He is a nice guy. If I had the option to go to somebody else, then I would probably look for someone else. He is fine for cleaning the furnace but for installing the furnace I probably wouldn’t use him again.
Description of Work: Oakley Heating and Cooling installed our new furnace about two years ago. He came in the middle of this October for the regular checkup and cleaning.

We only require the furnace to be cleaned and checked every other year. You did purchase a Rheem Extended Warranty- which they require every year cleaning. However, we think that is an over kill for most people and only maintenance every other year. As for you last cleaning the fee quoted was $85 for furnace only or to add the A/C System is an additional $40 for a total of $125. Your a/c required 2 lbs of freon which we charged which was billed at $50. I'm sorry, we were difficult to contact, I'm not sure why and I apologize. We have been growing our company and you find we have more people answering the phone these days. If there is anything we can do to make you happy, please let us know. If you really would like to switch to another Rheem Contractor, we are sorry to see you go. We can recommend a great company and forward your extended warranty information. We Guarantee 100% Satisfaction & want ALL of our customers happy:)

My biggest problem with Oakley is that they are a one man show ( his wife Kim runs the office). If you need service (like several times this summer when the AC would not work on 90+ degree days) be prepared to wait. There is no service on nights or weekends. One time I called and got absolutely no response so I sent and email. I got a reply saying they were on vacation and would be back next week. I called Rheem and was told that I could have any dealer service my unit. I am definately switching.
Description of Work: We purchased a 30 year old home. The furnace and AC were original and needed to be replaced. We got several bids and settled on Oakley based on price and the availability of the equipment. We selected the Rheem 97% furnace and the prestige AC unit. I had felt that I wanted the 105,000 BTU Furnace since it closely matched the unit originally installed in the house, but I let Mark talk me into the 90,000 BTU unit. I wish I had stuck to my guns, it takes quite a while for the house to heat up.

In regard to the sizing of the furnace in your home, your old furnace was only 70% Efficient. Your new furnace is 95% Efficient and has roughly the same output as your original furnace. We installed your furnace in September of 2009, you have never notified us to let us know you were cold, uncomfortable or unhappy. The new furnace is s 2 Stage ultra high efficiency furnace, they don't burn as hot as the old single stage low efficient furnaces. A single stage furnace turns on at full power, a staging furnace only puts out as much as necessary to save on gas bills. If your not used to a high efficiency furnace you will believe it's blowing cool air. But it will maintain any temperature your thermostat is set at. When giving you the initial proposal we did notify you that we were a small company. We have 5 employees and because of this we can pay attention to quality and detail to each job. Our records show you have called twice in regards to air conditioning. The 1st call was for a defective disconnect, we were out the same day to change it. The 2nd call was on a Sunday evening and it was for a fan motor on the a/c not running. We had your new fan installed Monday by noon! Keep is mind this was an 100 degree day and we (as all companies) were extremely busy. Since you are a warranty customer we moved you to the top of the list. We take care of warranty customers 1st. As far as the call with no answer, we were in Florida visiting our parents. We go every April because this is a slow time and usually nobody needs us. We do have a service tech on call for any emergencies. He is available on weekend as well. I must of missed your call and you did not leave a message, however, upon receiving your email (via blackberry, it's always with me anytime I'm away from the office with business # forwarded.), We called you immediately. After speaking with you we determined the water leak was from your humidifier. We had you turn off your humidifier. I figured I could handle it personally when I returned 3 days later. You were not without heat, and with the humidifier off, it was not leaking water or doing any damage. If you were without heat or were getting water damage, we would of sent out our service tech that day. (We do have one on call whenever we are away.) Also, if you had mentioned you did not care to wait, we would of sent out the service tech that day as well. You did not seem to mind. I wish you would of contacted us to let us know how you feel prior to posting this review. You have never expressed any complaints or dissatisfaction with us since your installation in September 2009. I’m not sure what we can do to make you happy, but, please let us know if there is anything we can do! We do our best to have 100% SATISFACTION!

We needed to replace a 17 yr old Carrier furnace/air purifier/humidifier. We're first time home owners, we don't really know much about furnace, and we were very nervous about selecting the right system and the right installer to do the job. We chose Rheem based on favorable reviews & recommendations, and got Oakley's phone number off the Rheem website. Then Mark from Oakley came out and gave us a great estimate (by not including anything we don't really need), beating out the competition by a wide margin. Though we liked Mark and the price, we still hesitated because of the highly unfavorable review of Oakley right here on Angie's list (despite the fact that they have a lot of positive reviews elsewhere.) There are always two sides to a story and we don't know the full story behind that negative review, but our personal experience with Oakley has been nothing less than stellar in every respect--price & quality of install, professionalism, service, dependability. The furnace is working great and keeping us warm. We're very happy that we took the chance with Oakley and found a company we can trust.

Throughout the process there was poor workmanship with no follow-up or supervision from Mark Oakley. He would show up at the job site for the first 5 minutes and would leave as quickly as possible. We have had to pay out additional funds for our exterior stone, flooring that needed to be replaced, damaged solid wood doors and drywall repairs along with our time and frustration. We have a large home with 4 separate zones and I feel that Oakley was not competent to complete this complex job and did not have trained staff to do this type of work. We have contacted the Rheem Corporate Office to see if they can assist in this manner. Hopefully they will be willing to stand by their products and leverage with the contractors who are advertised on their website.
Description of Work: Oakley was contracted to install a complete HVAC system in our new home we were building. We met with them prior to construction and expressed our concerns about workmanship and our requests. We purchased a Rheem Prestige Furnace, Rheem Prestige 16 seer A/C System and Aprilaire Electronic Humidifier. Issues arose from the beginning with vents cut and placed in exterior of home incorrectly. This led to costly repairs and delays. In addition the furnace was not installed correctly and 2 dead birds gained access to the furnace motor and shut the entire system down. Lastly, the Aprilaire Humidifier was originally not wired and did not function for 2 months. It was then determined that although the humidifier was wired, the hole in the furnace had never been cut out allowing the humidity to get into the system. Consequently, extensive and permanent damage was incurred in the solid wood doors throughout the house and vaulted ceilings in the master bedroom. Multiple other issues arose such as the toe-kick vent being placed incorrectly under the cabinets that required some of the floor boards to be replaced after the fact. The floor is now not even in that area. In addition the dryer vent in the laundry room was not placed at floor level and did caused the dryer to stick out 8 from where it should have been placed. We had to pay our carpenter to cut out the drywall and move the vent to the correct location. Oakley was slow to respond during the building process and did not conduct themselves in a professional manner. After they had received payment it was difficult to get them to return phone calls and to respond to service calls. We were lied to on multiple occasions and provided false information.
