Bathtub Restoration
Yes, I recommend this pro
$350
We were all set to buy a new bathtub and do all the additional  work, including retiling and new bathroom fixtures.  But then we learned that our space would only allow us to purchase a small "baby-bathing" tub. The space was not even big enough to hold a modern-day, standard size tub. Who knew our old  c. 1960 tub was exceptionally small? Not us!
We were all set to move ahead with the new tub when our decorator told us it was not worth it, especially because the bathroom tile was all in excellent shape. It was only a matter of the tub, which had already been refinished once by the previous owner and was now peeling.  She suggested reglazing the tub again, arguing that even if it started to peel eventually, reglazing any number of times would still not equal the cost of redoing most of the bathroom.  It took some convincing, but she did convince us that this was the sensible way to go because a new bathtub would not give us any added benefits in terms of size or amenities.
Not sure how we found Ron Benedict's name, but we went to see his work, which is on display at Materials Unlimited in Ypsilanti.  We liked what we saw and hired him to do the work for a very modest fee.  He came promptly on the appointed day and papered over the bathroom in a very expert way so that nothing would be damaged by his work.  I was impressed!!
Reglazing took half a day and then he came back the next day to remove all the protective paper.  The tub looks fabulous It's guaranteed for 5 years and he told me that if there were ever any chips or scratches, just call and he'll come back to fix.
Ron was a real gentleman. Our bathtub looks great. And, we saved ourselves thousands of dollars.
