Excellent installation, personable crew, etc. I think their prices were a little higher than some others but we liked dealing with a stable, solid, somewhat large company so we went with them for the trust factor. We haven't regretted it. By the way, we have learned that installing a whole-house backup generator is incredibly effective for completely protecting the whole neighborhood ... the power outage rate has dropped to about 10% of what it used to be before we spent the money! ;-)
The one thing I would do, if I were Kelley Bros, is to give their phone answering person (who apparently is often the only person in the office) some pretty complete instructions for some basic things, such as what to do when the generator red light comes on, or where the reset button is and what to do with it. The Generac owner manuals are awful. When the Kelley Bros phone person says "use the reset button" and refers us to the manual (which does not mention "reset button"), it is just frustrating. Customers shouldn't have to wait around for a service person to call us back on how to do this apparently very simple, but not quite simple enough, action.
"We understand [remove member name] frustration and we were working on a solution when this comment was posted. We wanted to respond directly to this review since we feel some critical information was not included. We don’t feel this information was left out maliciously and understand that when one feels nothing is being done in, what they feel is, a timely manor, memories can be foggy. We know it wasn’t stated, but it seemed to be implied, and we want state a fact. Kelley Brothers DID NOT installed [remove member name] Generac generator. We do know that it was one of the Big Box stores. Being that we are an authorized dealer, we were called to repair [remove member name] generator since it was still under warranty by Generac. When our technician arrived on site and looked at the generator, all of the wiring had been ripped out and the stator/rotor was damaged. Since this type of damage could only have happened due to vandalism (which isn’t covered under warranty) our technician had talk with Generac to get it coved under warranty, so [remove member name] wouldn’t have to pay all of the repair cost out of her own pocket. Our technician then ordered the necessary parts to complete the repair and since the parts are not common for maintenance or installations, the parts had a longer-than-normal lead-time of three weeks. When we received the replacement parts from Generac we sent our technician to complete the repair. It wasn’t until our technician was on site the second time and 70% complete with the repair, that he realized Generac had sent a wrong part in a bag that was mislabeled. He was unable to complete the work and had to notify Generac to have the correct part shipped. When we finally received the part, we called and scheduled the third visit for January 3, 2014, to complete the repair. When January 3, 2014 arrived, Winter Storm Hercules had started. We were expected to receive more than 10” of snow and the temperatures were sub-zero. We had two major issues we were dealing with that day. The first was that we had many “no heat” calls and elderly people were in situations that could become life threatening if not handled immediately. The second issue, it was unsafe to have our employees working outside in sub-zero temperatures. Since [remove member name] had power and was not in danger, it was unsafe for our technician, and we had other elderly customers in potentially life threatening situations, we called to reschedule. To our fault, we should have contacted [remove member name ] earlier to reschedule and for that we apologized to her. To our defense, we were trying to figure out away to service her generator and it wasn’t until around her appointment time that we realized we just couldn’t. [remove member name] did call to talk to me (the owner) and I was unavailable since it has been all hands on deck since January 3rd. We have been working with Generac to get [remove member name] serviced by another contractor since our differences in personalities can’t work. I can assure we are a trust worthy company and if anyone looks at all of our reviews they would agree. Kelley Brothers guarantees 100% customer satisfaction and offers 100% money back guarantee. While the events that transpired as we worked to repair [remove member name] damaged generator were unfortunate, they were out of our control and we are very sorry that [remove member name]cannot understand that."
I'm looking forward to the next power outage in my area!
I originally used Kelley Brothers when my generator was not working at all in the fall of 2012. Another company had informed me I needed a new generator (the company that originally installed it) and it was not repairable. The gentleman from Kelley Bros located the problem and had the generator up and running in a few hours. He believes it will last at least a few more years.
.
Kelley Brothers were the only HVAC company that was willing and able to come out within 24 hours of our call on a super hot day when I'm sure they were swamped.
A+ service from beginning to end. I've recommended them to neighbors who have used them and were equally impressed.
I called Kelley Brothers at 4:29 pm today and beginning with the lady answering the phone EVERYONE was responsive. My loss of power was important to them. They said how much it would be and they would send someone right over. Honest go God, in 21 minutes, the tech (Greg) was knocking at my door. He had already read my generator maintenance and performance information from my unit and assessed things before he knocked. He removed his boots, and went right to the basement and had the issue figured out in 7-10 minutes. One quick trip out to the truck and a few more tests and the thing was fixed, assessed and the credit card charged. He did not rip me off or over inflate what he did.
I am glad he put his stickers on my panel because they are going to be my go-to peeps for electrical needs from now on. Their boss is going to come and give me an estimate on trenching for a conduit to power my boat hoist and illuminate the flag pole. I also have outside low voltage lighting for the front and a few other things I want done.
I have a lot of experience with contractors and this guy was professional and focused yet friendly. Unlike the other contractor, this contractor gets the idea of an EMERGENCY call for generator malfunction. They did not dismiss me like the company I spent about 14K with over the last 3 years They are my new contractor of choice.
