Palmer Construction

We got quotes from two companies, both top-rated on Angie's List. We selected Palmer because their roofing quote was much more competitive and included the decking repair work that we knew was needed. We also opted to have additional insulation added to our attic space. Palmer gave us a thorough quote with three options (roof over existing shingles, tear off with 30-year shingles, tear off with 50-year shingles). We opted for the most expensive roof because we hope to be in this house forever and it was a good investment. Palmer Construction was prompt, professional and very good at communicating. They worked around rain delays and left our property cleaner than it was when they started. When Dan came back to do the final review with us, he found that the crew had forgotten to cover the existing gable vents in our garage when they added the new roof vent. Although we didn't think it was an urgent problem, Dan insisted on making a special trip to get the materials to fix it immediately, commenting that we'd paid for a premium roof and he wanted to make sure that we got what we ordered! We are very pleased with our overall experience and feel confident that Palmer Construction will promptly respond to any future concerns. In this case, the company definitely lived up to it's great Angie's List reputation!

We received three estimates and they were the lowest. We scheduled the work which was completed in a very timely manner. Would use again and I recommed to any one who is looking for a roofing company.

They were very professional and did a great job of cleaning up after themselves. They were very courteous, kind and professional. I would highly recommend them.

Planned 3-4 day job, interrupted by rain, but the team worked hard and long to get the job done. Every day the yard was cleaned up and tidied, and carefully inspected, nails were picked up with a magnet, all of which we really appreciated given that we have young children. We had some minor interior ceiling damage from a leak, which the guys repaired. The team of workers were all to a man polite, considerate, and friendly. Andy was clear and exact about his estimate, and in advising us on what needed to be done (for instance, he even recommended against various 'up-sells' that others had urged on us).

Because we had such a good experience with Andy in 2008 with our new roof we had him give us an estimate for repairing some Ice Damage both inside and out side. Andy's estimate happened to be the most fair and we had him do the work. Once again his crew was efficient and professional and the job was done perfectly.

We did our homework before we had our roof replaced. We decided to go with Andy because he came highly recommended. We were not disappointed. Andy gave a fair price and he and his crew did a great job. After the job was done they did a good job of cleaning up and even followed up in 30 days to make sure everything was ok. They were very good. We wanted to do a minor kitchen remodeling like only countertops. Their prices were really good and the work was really amazing. It was so inexpensive compared to what we had anticipated. As a result we ended up having the entire kitchen remodeled for probably a quarter of what we thought it might cost. I am going to upload a video of theirs online. I am also going to call Andy Palmer to get him to do our bathrooms. There were different people who had come out to do the electrical work and the plumbing. The one person who did the majority of the work was so good that we even gave him the key to our house.

Andy Palmer of Palmer construction met with me and explained in detail the products, procedure and protection his crew would utilize for the project. The crew arrived at the appointed time, protected all our shrubs and walkways extremely well. The work was completed in 2.5 days as planned.Clean up was superb including a huge magnet on rollers to scour the lawn and surrounding areas for nails and metal. Dan the foreman of the crew was super in answering my many questions and concerns as well as was Andy. All the guys on the crew were friendly, ambitious, and extremely capable. The final product looks fantastic and the price was as we planned. No surprises or extras. I would highly recommend Andy and Palmer Construction. They will be my first choice in any future construction needs.

Very, very good! No significant problems, a slight water leak at the chimney once it rained hard, but they fixed this leak immediately once I reported it to them. No problems since! They rubber roofed a south facing, almost level, SunDeck on the 2nd Floor. Roof looks great, no leaks, no complaints! They were prompt, fast, and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to hire them again!

We had a cathedral ceiling and we needed insulation before they put the roofing on which worked real well.

Overall, it went very well from beginning to end. Andy Palmer was responsive to our calls, clear in his explanations of what he would do and what would be best for us, and his crew completed the work as scheduled and on time. What we especially liked was that Andy did not appear to be trying to sell us what we did not need. He gave us options--we could do this, or we could do that, and here are the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Andy gave me all the information I requested. He was very professional. They did the work when promised. Workers were very pleasant and accomodating. There were a couple items that needed to be addressed and Andy responded quickly and completely, making sure I was satisfied. They did more than promised to make sure the roof was done the best possible way even when it involved more expense.

Overall it went very well. Andy was committed to providing a quality end product, and when I called him about an issue, he was prompt and took care of it right away.

Met owner (Andy) and lead foreman (Dan) at home show in Lansing in early spring. Explained project and frustration with previous bidding process and contractors lack of consideration. Andy visited property in April to review project and bid. Bid arrived within 72 hours hand delivered by Andy with ample time to discuss specific aspects/concerns I had of crews working on a 170 year old home. After reviewing 3 additional bids Palmer Construction was awarded contract. Timelines and start date were set. 1 Week before intended start date I called to ask to delay start 2 weeks while other work was completed. Andy was more than cooperative in accommodating this delay. Andy arrived with crew punctually on start date and stayed entire day to make sure I was comfortable with manner and competence of the crew. Working on a home of this vintage can be challenging and exhausting because so many variables remain unknown until work begins. The anticipated structural concerns were met with mutually agreeable solutions and done efficiently. The crew and specifically his foreman Dan were exceptionally pleasant, respectful and patient, meeting all of my expectation in treating my home with extra TLC. I am very pleased with the overall results and would rate the experience as one of the top contractor experiences I have had. That is saying a lot considering the more than 20 contractors that have/are working on this large project.

It was an extremely positive experience. The in-home estimate/sales call was completely no-pressure and very open and friendly. There weren't any of the "sign today and get ___% off" gimmicks that we'd had with larger companies. The job was completed within a couple of weeks of signing the contract. It ended up taking one afternoon and the following day. The workers were very respectful, friendly, and hard-working. I think the most amazing thing was how soon and how quickly the roof was done. Also, I was shocked how clean the whole process ended up being. There was NO damage to our yard, landscaping, etc., and the workers moved all the patio furniture and toddler toys into the yard and back to the proper spots in the course of the project. The price was very reasonable--we have since mentioned how much we paid to various friends and family members who have done roofing projects and they were surprised how little it cost. We had considered doing the roofing ourselves, but I am very, very glad we hired Palmer instead. In the end, I think we might have saved a little money doing it ourselves but we saved our sanity hiring a professional roofer!

Excellent. From the planning process to the overall budget to designing the layout and completion. Andy Palmer did a great job of communicating, the work was of the highest quality, was completed in the time frame agreed upon and was exactly at the agreed upon budget. My wife and I felt we got exceptional value for our money in every phase of the addition.

Andy Palmer responded to message left on cell number and came out to access and give estimate the following day. Tried to repair at one site with thought it might do the trick but had told me what the next step would have to be if leak still persisted. It still continued and he returned to finish step 2. Haven't had a big rain to test yet, but Andy said to call if still having a problem.

Palmer Construction completed my roofing job very quickly while providing a great finished product. The cost I mention in this review is slightly inflated due to the cost of the Anderson skylights. It was nice to only have a few days of pounding nails! After the job was complete they cleaned up ALL scraps and rolled a magnet for nails. Overall the roof and skylights look great and I am very pleased with their work! I have referred them to many of my friends who have since used Palmer Construction and they are equally as pleased.

It turned out wonderful! We are extremely happy with them! Our ceiling was caving in because of a leaky roof. They were able to squeeze us in right away to get the problem taken care of. They were very careful to make sure that there were no nails in the yard that our dogs could step on and get hurt. They were very professional and did a great job! We would recommend them to others.

I contacted Palmer roofing after hearing positive feedback from a couple of friends. Andy came to our home within a couple of days, gave us a complete estimate and left samples of shingles. His work crew came to the site and completed the project very quickly and cleaned the site before leaving each evening, including picking up any nails in the landscaping with a special magnetic nail retrieval device. The roof looks beautiful and the price was very fair. We recently had Palmer Roofing repair a leaking valley in our large barn roof. He carefully examined the problem leak, gave us a reasonable estimate and completed the work swiftly and thoroughly. Voila! No more leaky barn roof. Andy and his staff are very respectable and wonderful to work with.

Very well. My wife and I had a specific color and style we wanted. He took this and ran with it. It was sided quickly and looks great.

Palmer construction did an amazing job. Andy definitely knows his roofs. I was surprised at the number of shingle color and brands he knew off of the top of his head. He recommended one that would really go well with our siding and I have to be honest I wasn't sure it would look good. Once it was installed, though, I have to say he was right! It looks great and I couldn't be happier.
