The tails of my 24 year old cross country skis began separating while I was on a cross country ski trip hundreds of miles from home making the trip laborious and not fun. I duct taped them together as best I could but.... We had ordered a pair of skis for my son from Cross Country Ski Shop a few months prior after much internet research. Since we were relatively close to them then, we decided to visit their brick-and-mortar store to see if they could help me. The store has an excellent stock and knowledgeable staff. They'll allow you to "test drive" the skis on the snow in the back. I bought a new XC ski package (skis, bindings, boots, poles) on which they mounted the bindings while I waited. I then could continue my ski vacation. I left my old skis there and they fixed them ($10) and mailed them home to me.
