About us
A company that's built on a foundation as solid as the tile we sell. If you ask us, bathrooms, kitchens and foyers used to be pretty boring places. Places that were measured in functional square feet instead of the degree to which they express your personality, attract attention and make your guests linger a little longer by the front door at the end of the night. So in 1985, with only a handful of employees and a lot of ideas, we set out to change the way people think about their homes one bathroom and kitchen at a time. That was the year we opened our first shop, in Rochester, Minnesota. Founded on the idea of providing do-it-yourselfers with the finest natural stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles with which to work, The Tile Shop was the independent, boutique alternative to big box retailers, offering the kind of unique tiling products that cannot be found anywhere else. As of April 2013, we have 75 stores around the US.
