After recent heavy rains our sump pump was constantly on and water was shooting backwards out of our gutters. We have only been in this house for a couple of weeks and this was obviously a serious problem. Being new to the area, I called Godwin because I heard from several people they had a good reputation for servicing boilers (also on Angie's List). They immediately responded to my call and had me speak directly to one of their plumbers. What impressed me the most was the fact that they quickly determined this was out of their area of expertise and hooked me up with a specialist. There was no wasted time or effort . An appointment was set for the next day and the service was completed. Should I need a plumber in the future, I will be sure to call Godwin first!

I chose Godwin Hardware because I knew they would have the part and I wanted to save a trip to one of the Big Box stores. My old tub/shower diverter was going bad and leaking so I decided to replace it. Should be an easy fix, right? Just take off the old one, put a new one on and you're good to go. Well, not so fast. I unscrewed the old diverter to find out that the old galvanized nipple was so old and corroded, that it came out of the wall and stayed with the diverter. I purchased a diverter online and went to Godwin to get a new nipple. They were able to get me the right part and provided some advice on what to do. I brought it the old parts along with the new diverter I planned to use. The problem was that the new diverter wasn't the correct size (my fault for buying before measuring). This caused an extra tip to the store. I wasn't exactly clear that my new diverter wouldn't work but that's mostly my fault for not asking the question. If you're looking for a part, call these guys first. You'll save yourself the hassle and headache of traveling to a bunch of different stores. Plus, these guys have a ton of experience and will be able to provide some advice that other stores may not be able to offer.

I was very satisfied with everything. I think I will always be a Godwin customer from now on. Last January, I had a rooter company out to open my plugged basement drain. I also had a heavily leaking bathroom sink and asked if he could fix it. He looked at it, said he didn't have time, but wrote me an estimate for a new faucet, and new pedestal sink, none of which I asked for. I went on the Internet, found out it would not be a problem to replace the cartridge, took the faulty cartridge out and marched down to Godwin. I bought cartridges for both hot and cold The guy there gave me a little advice, I went home and replaced the cartridges for $32!! That came about $650 cheaper than the rooter company's estimate for things I didn't want or need. Only Godwin for me!

My garage door was really old and very heavy to lift, especially after rain or wet snow. And I wanted to add an opener. Problems: A rafter position would interfere with the operation of the opener size that was standard for my door. Also, the opening (and old wood door) was 2 - 3 inches wider than standard door size. The first estimate I got involved cutting a section out of the rafter and then reattaching so that rafter had a "jog" in the middle. It was also going to stack up side molding to fill the gap in the door width. The garage door specialist from Godwin Hardware & Plumbing (Ken Steffes) is not a smooth salesman type, but he really knows his field. After assessing the rafter situation, he came up with a better solution that involved a longer connector, or something like that; I don't have all the correct terms, but it works just fine. His price was nearly $500 less than the first quote I had. But that quote also had a longer guarantee and sounded like a higher powered closer. So he got on the phone to his supplier and arranged to pick up a heavier duty mechanism that had the longer guarantee. He showed up two days later, at 9:00 am as promised, by himself, and had the installation completed by mid-afternoon. Then he went through the controls and operation with me, set the security code for opening when I didn't have the remote with me. Showed me all the security features and made sure I was satisfied, then picked up and swept up, took the old door away and left the place nice and clean. And his price was still at least $400 less. I don't know exactly how he dealt with the width problem, but his solution is totally unobtrusive. I was surprised to see Godwin listed in the garage door category when I checked Angie's List, but called them because of the many very positive experiences I have had with their plumbers and, lately with their HVAC technicians. I'm glad I did.

Called for estimate; came next day. Approved estimate. Work performed next day. Excellent responsiveness and workmanship. On their owne they rejected two cast iron tubs delivered due to defects.

Fifteen minutes before the scheduled appointment the technician called and let me know he was running a few minutes late...very professional and I appreciated the heads-up. The plumber was extremely attentive of what I was asking to be done. No complaints and no shortcuts...this guy was a pro and was a relationship builder...not your typical wham bam thank you man. If you want the job done right call these folks...work cost came under the original estimate from the store by $100...they want your return business...all about customer service.

It was over a year ago when I used the plumbing services of Godwin Plumbing. They installed a new garbage disposal and to the best of my recollection they were prompt, professional and their prices were very competitive. I also hired them to connect a new faucet in the kitchen and they did a good job and didn't overcharge for their time. Lets face it......no plumbing is cheap! I'm afraid I don't remember the charges.

difficult and While checking our water softener salt we noticed that the circuit breaker on our lift pump was tripped. We did a few checks on the pump by moving the plug to a different outlet/circuit. We found that every time the pump kicked on the circuit breaker would pop. I called Godwin Plumbing and they scheduled a convenient time for me to meet them at the house. They arrived promptly on time as promised. Doug was very professional and efficient. The area to work in is a tight area and the lift pump services the basement bathroom so the prospect of working on the pump was not terribly positive. However, Doug never even hinted at the uncomfortable situation. He assessed the requirements and immediately went to work. The work was done in no time. Godwin cleaned up the area, took away all the replaced parts and trash.

The service man went to the source of our plumbing problem and took care of it in short order. He was very efficient and explained what had happened, including showing me the pipe that had burst and the area on the pipe that had been inexpertly patched sometime before. He left the area where he had to cut through the wall very neat and did a great job. I would highly recommend Godwin Plumbling.

I was very satisfied with their service. He arrived on time, made repair and described the issue.

They did everything in a timely manner, at an hourly rate that was less than other companies I contacted, they took the initiative when there was a small problem that I was not aware of and fixed it. They only thing that was a little unsatisfactory was the billing. They would not bill me by mail which I preferred, but wanted a check or Cr C when the job was completed. I was not available when the work was completed and did not pay at that time. Eventually I received a call and supplied my Cr C info by phone in order for them to release the necessary report on the back flow valve removal to the city inspector. I did receive a final receipt by mail showing the invoice paid in full.....that was nice..

They did a good job. It was a difficult project, but they were successful.

We've used them twice for two different bathrooms. We will call them again for more work.

I had 3 separate issues: 1. Clogged & leaky bathroom sink2. Poor flow in hall toilet3. Unexplained water in basement Ken showed up right on time and called to confirm in advance. The first two issues were a breeze (mostly handled with an auger). He then diagnosed (through some trial and error of turning on faucets and listening to the walls) that the root cause of the water in the basement was not the pipe I had pointed out dripping water, but rather a problem with a pipe in the wall upstairs. He cut into the wall, and discovered that speaker wire had been run through the PVC pipe! He cut a section of the pipe out, and installed a coupling to fix the issue. The only issue I had is that I didn't notice that the installed coupling was actually so large that I couldn't reinstall drywall. I called Godwin up on a Monday to explain, and they had a plumber out Tuesday morning to fix the issue at no charge. Overall, Godwin was very professional and quick to address my concerns.

I was pleasently suprised about their work. I was not sure who to talk to regarding this type of work. They did a nice and neat job. It took them awhile to install the furnace, about a day, eight hour period. It was an energy efficient. They looked and acted professional and cleaned up after themselves. They are not the cheapest, but the quality of the work and equipement is not questioned.

Godwin water treatment came out to my home to test my water free of charge. While on site Gerrit suggested different options that would solve my hard water issues. I also had him look at my old hot water heater. I settled on having Godwin install a water softener, reverse osmosis filter, and a gas water heater (converting from electric). They were able to come out and perform and complete all work in a day. The installer was on time and finished right around the time he said. The quality of the install is top notch. The hot water heater had to be inspected and passed with no issues. With out any doubts I will use Godwin again.

The plumber was professional, courteous, and did a great job on the plumbing I needed. I would call them again any time I need plumbing service.

They're the best. They did a good job for me and I will continue to use them in the future.

He does our plumbing work. They are knowledgeable of the products, he came with the parts we needed, and knew he didn't have to replace the kitchen sink. We rely on them, but there are others we have used, too. They're a well established company in the community. I give them high ratings and will continue to use them in the future.

I had a problem with pipes knocking, from my research I suspected air hammer issues. After working through the problem and potential solutions with Godwins Plumbing Department over the phone I could not solve the problem myself. They came out later that week (on time). After some inspection, Godwin's plumber Mike Rau determined that my water meter was the source of the problem and that the City Water Department would replace defective meters for free. I also had Mike clear several drains that had slowed due to accumulated hair/gunk. He spent 20 minutes cleaning and inspection our drains. After that visit the drains move water better than ever. I basically had to pay for the labor, and that was very reasonable given the amount of money and time they saved.

We've used them more than once and they have always been very prompt. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. They don't just come in and fix it and leave. They tell us what was wrong, how they fixed it and how to avoid it in the future. They give us some tips. They have been very fair in their charges. Sometimes they have only charged the trip fee when it has been very minor. They don't make me feel stupid. He only charged the trip fee the last time, which we really appreciated that he was willing to help us out that way.

They come quickly if you need something.

In my opinion, we couldn't get any company more stable. I can't comment on the price because my husband paid the bill, but I would say they're average because he wouldn't pay over price for anything.

It was a good experience. They cleaned up after themselves. Everything is working fine.
