There was a mixup on the financing. However, the installation went well. I've never seen a job done so fast.

I'm going to use this section to explain my ratings below. I gave them an overall score of a D, because I felt the project was overpriced given their performance. This company brags about their excellent customer service and quality on Angie's list when the salesman meets with you. They point out their A rating and encourage you to review the comments on Angie's list. It should be noted that they did not ask for my feedback at the completion of this project, and did not ask me to do an Angie's list review. Now let me tell you what happened. Because the dumpster was in the driveway, we could not put our vehicles in the garage. I went out the next morning after the roof was installed to get a tool out of the garage, I noticed that the garage was filled with wooden debris. They had cut slits in the roof for a venting system and had failed to clean up after themselves. It seems obvious to me that if you are going to use a saw to make slits in the roof, you would want to contact the owner for permission to clean up afterwards. It took me 45 minutes to clean up the mess. Given this mess, I wondered what else they didn't clean up and did a perimeter check around the house. Sure enough there was debris all around the house in varying degrees. Everything from nails to pieces of metal. I also found several cigarette butts in the front yard. I contacted the company and spoke with a manager to complain about the poor cleanup. They offered to send somebody out, but I had already taken care of this myself. (They did eventually give me $125 refund to compensate me for my cleanup efforts). Later on that day, they sent the truck out to collect the dumpster. When I returned home, I parked the car in the street so that I could check the area where the dumpster had been suspecting that there might be some nails there. Sure enough, I found 13 of them where the dumpster had been. I called the manager and reported this development and asked him why the truck drivers didn't check to make sure that there were no nails in the driveway. He indicated that they were aware of the problem, but use a separate company and didn't have much success getting the drivers to check the area after they picked up the dumpster. However, it doesn't explain why they use a substandard company to perform this work. Can you imagine if I had gone out to the garage and found that I had flat tires because of all the nails in the driveway! One other issue really disturbed me. This company did not drop off a Porta John for their workers. I noticed several of them going to the backyard and urinating behind a large oak tree. I brought this to the manager's attention, but he explained that it was just a one day job and they don't provide Porta Johns for their workers in those situations. You have to understand that I live in a residential neighborhood with five neighbors having direct sight access to that part of my backyard. All of them have young daughters and granddaughters! This project took place at the end of the school year. I do not feel that this company was very responsive to my concerns. I do not think they deserve an A rating on Angie's list. When you have the experiences that I did with this company, you lose confidence in them. You begin to wonder if the workers took other shortcuts with the installation. Unfortunately, I'm not a roofer and cannot evaluate the quality of that work. So if you still decide to use this company for roof replacement, I have some recommendations: 1. Be sure to ask the salesman for all the options available instead of the one he presents to you. They present the most expensive roofing system and downplay the other options. I also recommend that you get at least two other bids so that you can negotiate both on price and determine whether or not you're getting a good product. Also check out any offers on Angie's list. I found such an offer and talked to the manager to see if I would qualify it for it. He said it was only for Angie's list members to purchase before meeting with a salesman. Even though I was an Angie's list member, I had already made the purchase and didn't qualify. This does make me wonder about Angie's list objectivity and a possible conflict of interest. 2. Insist that they send out a Porta John for the workers. It's inhumane to send out a workgroup to work for nine consecutive hours without toileting facilities. 3. Be sure to check your garage to make sure that there's no debris in it if they put in the special venting system. Do this as they are cleaning up for the day and before they leave. 4. Be sure to do a perimeter check to make sure that they have thoroughly cleaned up while the crew is still there 5.. Insist that the project manager come out after the dumpster is picked up to make sure that there are no nails in the driveway. 6.. Be sure to get the project manager's cell phone number and not the office number so that you can contact him directly and immediately if there are any problems. 7.. Be sure to take photographs of any problems so that you can document them for your Angie's list review (I wish I had done this) and to send to the project manager and his supervisor. In conclusion, this company has a lot to learn about good customer service. They were very matter-of-fact about the problems that were raised. I had sent several emails to the salesman regarding my concerns, and he only responded to one saying that they would try to do better next time. No acknowledgment of the poor performance this time or a serious attempt to try to repair the relationship. By contrast, when I stayed at a local five-star hotel and had several negative experiences, a manager apologized and gave me a free night stay with a complimentary bottle of wine. Guess where I stay whenever I need a hotel room for an overnight stay. There were many opportunities for this company to repair the relationship, but they dropped the ball every time. I sincerely hope that they make the necessary quality improvements to avoid a similar situation in the future.

Real pleased with the work. The clean up was excellent. How nice to get it done in one day too! I really liked the crew that I had they were all excellent workers. They were here for 12 hours. They were very professional and thorough in what they did. They all helped one another and they were very polite. They were friendly and Juan always came to me if he had any questions about any of the work.

The roof was leaking in the bathroom. The roofers got here at 7am and didn't' leave until about 9:30. A different crew came back to finish the chimney the next day.

We were amazed and impressed. I've never seen a crew work so well together. There was no fighting or arguing. Everybody knew their job and did their job. The cleanup was excellent. They protected the flowers too. We were really impressed. You should take that crew out for breakfast. I would request that crew for any job again. I would use Avalon again.

They did the job in a day. They started early and finished about mid evening.

The roof was leaking and the last part was put on wrong. It was only put on six years ago and we were just trying help out a friend. So six years later, we called Avalon to get a new roof. It is not leaking anymore. The guys are hard workers. It was the hottest day of the year and they are up on a dark roof. They never stopped working.

They had a lot of work to do. There were two layers of shingles under a layer of plywood. Then two or three layers of shingles on top of that. They took it all off and replaced it. It looks good. They also fixed a piece of soffit too. Did a very nice job.

The gutter guys did a job. They did almost all of our roof and matched the little spot they didn't do. The guy that came said we have that color and they matched it.

It feels cooler in the workout room already. It was freezing in there in the summer.

The manager Larry is a good sales man and went straight to the point. He assured us that Avalon Building Concepts would give us the best deal. We had 3 other estimates and Avalon was in fact the best deal. The crew came in 5 days later and did the job professionally and quickly. They took care of the paperwork that our insurance needed, and haven't had any issues with anything at all. Simple and quick...Would definitely refer to anyone.

I was very impressed with how quickly they put the roof on. I was expecting it to take longer. The gutters on there now are a lot better than what was on there before.

It was fast and I love my new roof. No leaks.

They were in and out in about 3 and a half or four hours. We only found one roofing nail, a couple of other nails and a sliver of wood. The roof was in really bad shape. They replaced everything from the rafters up. We had a tarp on it, now it looks real nice.

David helped me pick out a color. We settled on the driftwood and I like the looks of it.

There were no glitches. The whole process was easy, smooth and comfortable. They took the measurements. They showed up with the windows and they knew what they were doing. The early part of the day was rainy, so the installers kept taking their shoes off every time they entered the house. They picked up after themselves so there was no mess. They did a good job. There were no difficulties. What was promised was delivered. The original installers did not put the blinds back up. So I called the office and they sent someone back out to re-install them.

We are more than happy. Carl came over everyday and explained what he was going to do. They were always on time and cleanup was great. They were flexible with the weather. They were all very polite. They had it tough too. They couldn't put the shingles on the roof so they had to carry them up themselves. Carl was right up there on the roof working with his crew too. We have already recommended them to others.

We were extremely pleased with the knowledge, professionalism and service we received. The workers were friendly and communicative, always letting us know when they would be coming and going. We would highly recommend them!

The roof had been leaking on and off. I kept calling the guy who originally put the roof on before but I could never tell if it got fixed. It smelled terrible and got so bad that I could put my broom stick right through the ceiling drywall. So I called Avalon and he said they would fix the drywall when they put on the new roof. They took off the old roof and put on the new one in a day. I was amazed they did it so quickly. They did a good job of cleaning up the yard. I did not see a mess. It was very thorough.

The work crew was extremely professional. It is difficult roof and the guys brought their A-game.

Many people told me I needed a new roof. I got other estimates and Avalon was cheaper. They got it done in a day and a half. Good workmanship. Friendly workers. Quality material.

They didn't always keeps in the loop about who was coming out and when. However, Jerry and Robin did a good job. They got it done in about a day. We think it looks better than the that was here before. It would have taken us weeks to take it apart ourselves, but they did it in days. Both crews we worked with were very polite.

From start to finish Avalon was professional, courteous, and prompt. Avalon treated me as if I was a part of their family. Avalon sent out one of their owners to discuss the work with us. How often do you get to meet one of the owners? The roof work was outstanding. They pretty much redesigned parts of our roof for no extra charge. The gutters added a beautiful improvement to our home. I am a very honest person. If you want the best, go with Avalon and that is the truth. 100 percent satisfaction.
