I’m very satisfied with Avalon. They were very helpful answering all of my questions. The crew was polite and cleaned up after themselves. There were no problems whatsoever. I would rate Avalon a 9/10 because no one is perfect.

They did a remarkable job. I really liked the representative that was sent to my home. Jason was polite, friendly, listened, and unlike most people in the construction trades I have spoken with in the past. He he did not speak too technical, yet shared his expertise about my roof from his own experiences. No one cares how much you know until they know you care, and I knew Jason cared about my project. I was extremely impressed with the crew leader and his team. They arrived early to my home and didn’t stop working until lunch. Anytime I poked my nose outside Juan was there asking if he could answer anything. They were diligent on getting things picked up throughout the project. They were quiet and discreet with their music and had a great work ethic. As it was going to rain the next day Juan kept his crew there until it was completed. Avalon did everything I expected them to do. They truly underpromised and over delivered.

Excellent company. Very knowledgeable employees. The salesman Ryan Gritter was exceptional. Not your typical pushy salesman, but a humble guy who knows the business. Took all the time we needed and explained everything thoroughly. We really liked his down to earth manner along with his ability to explain the benefits of having the job done. We would highly recommend him!

It was above and beyond what I was expecting. Clint was very relaxed and down to earth, yet straight forward about Avalon’s roofing process. He told me his crews could complete the roof tear off, installation, clean up, and haul away of debris in one day and delivered. I signed the contract and within 6 days had Avalon calling me to set up installation. The day of installation I came home from work to a finished roof and the crew hauling away waste and running magnets through my yard. I am very impressed with Avalon and my new roof. They did a great job.

We had 3 shingles fall off our roof. I called to see if they could put them back on. They said yes - for $700. I won’t be using them ever.

I live in a historic area and finding a contractor that could handle the unique character and design of my home was challenging. Avalon’s people are smart and clearly communicate with you, which is extremely important. The communication took place from the first person who came to my home for the inspection, to the person calling me with updates about deliveries and installation, to the last person who followed up with me after the project was complete. The inspector informed me my roof was possible to get done in one day during my signing, but due to terrible weather that interfered, it took five days to complete fully. However, it was done in a very neat manner, and the lines the crew used with the shingles captured the character of my historic home beautifully. I am very pleased with Avalon’s professional staff, and knowing my new roof is the last one I will have to buy in my lifetime.

Avalon Roofing company is the best roofing company. I have ever dealt with! Adam, Doug, Jesus, and Tony at Avalon made me feel like family! I have since referred two of my friends to Avalon for new roofs! Their customer service is second to none!

They were not the cheapest, but with Avalon you pay for the quality they can provide. Jon and Jesus were great at e planning the benefits of Avalon as well as the warranty that would come with our new roof. We felt comfortable they had a crew that could complete our roof. When the crew arrived they were busy, worked till dark, and the clean up was incredible. We have had to have them come out to remove fasteners our of our siding as we requested they tear down an old antenna, but overall happy with the quality of the roof.

Best home improvement contractor I have dealt with! Knowledagble guys did my inspection. Crew who installed were quick, fast, and neat.

Every single person I dealt with from Avalon has done an excellent job. I have gone back to them now for three different projects because I feel they think of the person and their home first, not just the money. That is hard to find in a home improvement contractor. They are knowledgeable in what they sell and have followed through in what they say they will do. Avalon is the company to call when you are making changes to your home.

I am pleased I choose Avalon over the other guys who came out to my house. Jeremy was very upfront with us about the product, how Avalon does business and gave us the same GAF shingle at a lower price. Everything he promised, the company delivered on. The crew came out early morning, busted ***, were polite, and had the entire thing completed in one day. I still look at my roof and say ‘**** I love my roof’.

I was highly impressed with Avalon. I reached out to them after having a contractor I hired tell me he was too busy to get to my job. I researched them on review sites and gave them a call based on their ratings. It was super easy to set up an appointment. Chris showed up to my home and easily identified the issues as I had a leak where my flat roof and pitched roof adjoined. He provided me very detailed information on exactly how Avalon would fix the problems. Everything sounded great, but I was worried with Michigan weather that I would be stuck in the same situation I was at with my previous contractor. NO. That didn’t happen. They acted fast and got to my pitched roof completed within days of signing. I was not home for the whole installation as I had to work, but received updates throughout the day from their roofing manager, Adam. He even gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him day or night if I had any concerns, which really gave me comfort. I arrived home from work to a roof that looked beautiful, all delivered materials were gone, and there was no mess left behind. My flat roof was completed until a month later. However, they let me know ahead of time that it was due to needing higher temperatures. Adam, again kept me informed as to when people would be arriving at my home. The best thing about Avalon is not that my new roofs look great, they got to my quickly, or that I have no more leaks, but the fact that they fixed a cosmetic dip on the corner of my home’s overhang AT NO EXTRA COST! A cost that I was originally quoted by another company at $6,000. This company is smart, honest, and truly goes above what is expected. I highly recommend them.

I am a customer for life. I have used Avalon on my previous home’s roof and now my most recent home’s roof. I have been impressed with the overall professionalism and quality, but more so the service. Anytime something is handled by a person there is always room for human error, but what really sets Avalon apart from others is how they handled themselves if there is a problem. Their service is exceptionally wonderful. One phone call is all it took and the next day a service professional was out to make it right. I know who to call when it comes time for me to replace my windows, and look forward to working with them again.

My wife and I learned about Avalon as they had completed the roof on our church. I serve on the elder committee and watched them install a great looking roof and clean up every single day. So when we sprung a major leak due to an ice dam that had melted on our roof it was an easy call to make. They sent out a gentleman who was very upfront with us, took his time, and educated us about what shingles would be best for our home. He informed us about the whole roofing process and each product that would go onto our roof. Avalon was very thorough and kept us informed on when the materials, dumpster, and crew would arrive even though we were out of town. Only downfall was they did not warn us to cover items in our garage and debris fell through the slats during tear off leaving a mess they could not reach to clean up. Our roof looks great and we know we will use them again heaven forbid we have an emergency.

I have been a member of Angie's List for years. I have happily recommended people and firms I have used before. I have never rated a firm lousy before. Avalon Building Concepts earned it. I will review by category. Price: Fair I got five bids for roofing and siding my small home in South Haven, Michigan. Avalon was right in the middle. Quality: Lousy. I have included photos of their work. Please note, this work was done in very cold weather and the crew was in full winter gear. I let them set up a workshop in my garage and they brought in kerosene heaters to stay warm. Still, when you are up on a ladder doing tin work in single degree weather, you don't think about producing great quality, you just want to get it done. The mitered edges of the tin work is poor. The first big wind and siding blew off the house. (really). Seams in general are sloppy. I have included a photo that is representative of their finish skills. (please note photo of small piece of trim used to cover a mistake) They started applying siding from the top down (should be from bottom up) and another photo shows you the finish with the wrong side of the siding against the decking. I am having another contractor come in and repair the mistakes. Again, I do want to point out that the actual work crew were very nice people. They just weren't skilled at what they do. There was no "job boss". The roofing boss tried to help manage the issues, but again, he is a roofer, not a sider. In March (job was contracted in October) after I continued to squawk, they sent a "quality control" person to look at the job. He acknowledged it was poor workmanship and he took photos and notes on what needed repair. I had already sent photos in, but again, to Adam the roofing boss. My wife had spent hours cleaning the yard of nails and construction material. He said he was sorry for that and the crew should have done that. (he's right, it is in the contract) Then he said he would get the magnet roller and go over the yard himself. I had to tell the quality control guy that siding nails are aluminum and the magnet is useless. The bottom line is the quality is very bad. I have given up on getting any satisfaction from Avalon and have made the decision to pay another person to re do their work. Don't believe their website. You'll notice there are no photos of my house on their site. Responsiveness: Lousy. Oh my, where do I begin? The job began in October. The materials for the roofing were promptly delivered. I received three separate start dates and no one showed up for them. Eventually, they did start the roof, but not before the materials left on the lawn killed the grass and has had to be reseeded and repaired. The roofing crew was fairly efficient once they got started. They finished the seams between the roof and the existing shingles with one by fours. I got a call saying the job was done and to pay the remaining fifty percent due upon completion. I told them it wasn't finished and they sent a new person down to look at the job. I pointed out the one by four finish (photo attached) and he said that is the way they have to do it with my type of roof! I ask if finishing with untreated 1x4's was the way Avalon did it? He said yes. And that it was the homeowner's responsibility to paint it to match. I looked at their example photos on their website and no other roof's were completed that way. Finally, after many blood pressure raising conversations, Adam, the crew boss, said no, that is not the way to finish the job and it would be addressed. Now the wait for the siding crew. They could not give me an estimate of when the job would be done. It was "on the schedule." Lots of false starts. It took seven! months to complete the job. Punctuality. I think I covered that above. There were also many, many text messages never replied to or acknowledged. The only thing they are punctual at is sending out the bill. Professionalism. Lousy. No one seems to talk to each other there. If there was any bright spot, the folks in production at least tried. They did not assign a member of management to supervise the siding crew. They didn't know that a dumpster sat in my driveway for a month after completion of the roof. I finally called the dumpster provider and asked them directly to pickup the dumpster. It was winter. There is no on street parking allowed. I just wanted to be able to use my garage. The last straw was a call I got yesterday. I was told there was a collection letter issued. Now, they took seven months to complete (it is still not complete, but I am paying another contractor to do that) and they wanted paid right now. The invoice went out early May and was paid immediately. Thank goodness I paid by credit card and had the receipt. I lost it. I am a small businessperson myself and pride myself on my excellent credit history. A collection would be devastating. Especially when they were paid immediately upon receipt of invoice. For the first time after exploding, I finally got to talk to a manager in finance who acknowledged they were wrong and that he would make sure no credit bureau would receive the collection notice. They are very good at acknowledging wrong doing. They are not very good at not doing wrong. Please consider another vendor for your work, unless you place a higher value on meaningless apologies than you do on good work done on time.

We are pleased we took the advice everyone told us. We had signed with a different contractor and were told to get a second estimate on our roof, so we had Avalon come out for a second bid. The two gentlemen that came to our home gave us a lot more detail about our roof and the roofing process than we expected. They presented different pricing packages with warranties without pushing us towards one allowing us to determine what would be best. As we have gutter helmet installed on our home it was refreshing when they brought up that Avalon is familiar with their warranties and how roofing installation needs to be completed. The other company did not mention that. Avalon was very honest with us. They completed our roof with a crew that was fast, friendly, and good mannered. Once it was completed they walked us around our home and offered to come back to clean up any found nails after the snow melted. The roof looks great, and while we have found a few nails now that the snow has melted, we are happy we choose Avalon.

Our experience with Avalon was no mess, no fuss. They reached out to us as they were doing work in our neighborhood to schedule an appointment. The guy who was sent to our home to present different window options developed a good rapport with us and was very knowledgeable about ALL our options. He informed us that he could offer us triple pane glass at their double pane price on the window we selected so we went ahead and signed. The day the installers arrived it was raining like crazy. They laid down plywood throughout the house so as to not track in mud or sink into our landscaping. It was refreshing that they thought about that before hand and were willing to work in that weather. I’m normally a person who would complain if there is something I don’t like, and I can’t complain when it comes to Avalon. My windows look great, I know I got a good deal on them, and I don’t have to crank them open anymore.

I have used Avalon for multiple projects and each time things have gone really well. Avalon is professional, informative, and really nice. They listen to what I wanted and deliver. My new windows and front door let tons of light in and my roof looks great.

We choose Avalon because they were the only company that would complete everything that was damaged due to a leak in our old skylight. They were able to get us financed and offered us the best price. Communication was lacking as to when we were going to be scheduled and our interior would be completed. It started slow but got better. They did end up doing everything they promised but it took some time. The guys did a good job on the interior with the drywall. You cannot even tell we had damage.

Avalon’s work speaks for itself. Never seen anything like it. They tore off a roof and put a new one on within seven hours. I can’t believe they did it that fast. They gave me a great warranty and answered all questions I have had. Definitely recommended.

Avalon made scheduling my estimate fast and easy. David arrived on time and met me at my rental property. He walked the roof and presented me with several different shingle options and price points. Avalon’s price was higher than other estimates I had previously received, but David made me feel confident with the company and product. Plus he provided me with a great warranty. My tenant informed me that he barely heard the crews working and that the roof went on in one day. I have since visited the property and the roof looks good. For a construction project the entire process was very smooth.

I thought they did pretty good. My wife and I have done a lot of home improvement projects on our home with a variety of companies. We have used Avalon previously for windows and had a few time delays when it came to the finished product. We still contacted them again as they do good work and we knew what to expect. The first estimate we had done for the doors was a little overwhelming, as the presentation provided too many choices that made it difficult to make a decision. The second time Avalon sent Ryan and he was much more laid back. He brought an IPad with him and worked with us to design doors that suited us. They were middle of the line with price compared to other estimates we had received. The turn around time for the doors was faster than our windows. There was no inconvenience to when they started and finished. It took two days total once they were here. The two man crew that came out to install our doors were nice. They addressed any questions we had and fixed drafts we felt around our trim.

Avalon has a very professional team. Very friendly guys. Chris did a great job helping me with the design of the gate, steps, and railing. Avalon got me financed which was helpful. The crew was very respectful and tidy, cleaning up their tools and scrap every night when they left. The entire deck took about a week to complete. Chris called after the project to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. He stopped by my home and rounded all the edges of my deck to remove any sharp corners as I had expressed it as a concern. I am extremely happy with my new deck, their services, and the follow up. I would use them again.

I was impressed with how friendly the guys were. Clint was very informative about my choices and presented me the best option that he said he would want in his home. The installers were respectful laying out tarps to make sure my carpet started clean as they were in and out of the house. I no longer have drafts and my sliders open and close correctly.
