I called Xtreme Air LLC to service my dual zone, S**** Pak A/C system, as the system would blow air but it was not cold air. When they arrived, they checked out the condensers and verified that the air handling unit was moving the air. They stated that the system probably needed to be recharged with refrigerant. After about 1/2 hour, they stated that the contactor and capacitor on both condensers needed to be replaced. I asked what they estimated the cost would be and they told me $250 - $300. I told them to go ahead. They had to leave to check on another job and get the right capacitors. they returned about two hours later, changed out the contactors and capacitors and added the R22 refrigerant. It seemed that both systems were blowing colder air. When they gave me the bill, I was shocked to see it totaled $995.00. He said that he felt bad that he had to add so much refrigerant and gave me a 10% discount, which brought the bill to $895.00. I told him that was ridiculous and that it is absurd to quote someone $300 then charge them $900. I paid the bill, but let him know I was not happy and felt he took advantage of me. Later that night, the upper unit would not cool properly and would not get below 74 degrees F. I called him out on Saturday. He came out and measured the discharge air. I was getting 50 degrees downstairs and 53 degrees upstairs. I told him I'd let it run and see how it did the rest of the day. During the day, I checked on condensers and the upper was kicking in and out all day. I decided to call someone else to service my A/C properly.
