HORTON'S TREE SERVICE

The service was provided with great punctuality and care. I am very impressed.

I called and asked for a quote for shredding up a pile of logs in my backyard- leftover from a previous occupant. The receptionist said someone would come by within 5 days and call back with a quote. No one did. I called back one week later, and left a polite message reminder. Still, no one has come or contacted me.

They had to work around our roofers, and they did a good job in the back but did not finish the front. They did not return to finish the job.

I never got a call back, even after another phone call on the same day. If a company does not want to work in Detroit, they should have the common decency to acknowledge that fact. I had left a message with another company who indicated that they worked in Wayne County. On the message I had asked if they worked in Detroit. They were nice enough to call back and let me know that they did not work in Detroit. I don't know why Horton's couldn't do the same thing instead of wasting my time having me wait on them to call and they had no intention of doing so.

They were very quick to come out and do the estimate which was great as we wanted to schedule work asap. There was an oversight as we were to receive a call giving us 24hr notice as to when they would show up to complete the job (this did not happen). Thankfully, I just happened to be home when they arrived. Additionally, they parked one of their trucks in my neighbor's driveway - but as consolation they cut down a troublesome bush for him that he had been wanting to get rid of so although initially upset this made peace with the neighbor for which I am grateful as I have to live next to him. - good

All of the workers were engaged and worked steadily, even jogging from task to task. The job was completed efficiently and effectively. We had gotten 4 or 5 quotes. One was lower but the job would have taken a week to complete. Others were as much as $1000.00 higher.

Very smooth. I had used Horton's about 15 years ago and saved their number. So when I needed service again he was the one I called.

Very professional and were very safe. It was a large crew that came so it only took an hour for each tree.

It went very well. Within a couple days of calling them, i had a truck and crew in front of my house giving me a price and getting started. I barley had to speak with them, they just told me they were getting started then swiftly finished.

A windstorm knocked half of the main branches off a flowering pear tree in my back yard, and after attempting to deal with it myself (generating a lot of firewood I would never use) I eventually decided to have it professionally removed. I contacted Horton's Tree Service for an estimate. Within a week, I had an estimate for removing the tree and grinding the stump. Within another week, the main work was done. All of the large wood was removed, all of the brush created by Horton's was removed, and the stump was ground. They left firewood and the stump grindings, which I did not instruct them to take away. I then decided to have all of the remaining brush and firewood removed - it was left over from my own attempts to deal with the fallen branches immediately after the storm. Horton's came out again and removed all marked wood from my property, except for one piece that had a big metal bolt and chain in it which probably would have damaged their chipper. Horton's workers did not damage any of my property - the only evidence that they had been there were stump grindings and the sudden disappearance of the tree/wood. I found Horton's easy to work with and prompt, considering I was in no hurry to have the work done. I did have one minor snag when setting up payment - I received a call from their receptionist/office manager saying that I hadn't paid yet, but a followup call straightened that out. I also found it convenient that Horton's accepts credit cards.

Called Horton's Tree Service over the weekend. They called back on Monday. They were out on Tuesday morning at 9am. The workers were professoinal and polite. By 11am, the tree was removed and all the trimming and clean up work was done. They were coming back at 3pm to do the stump grinding but when it was obvious that they wouldn't make it, one of the workers swung by to let us know that they would be late. The job was done by 6 pm. Then after the job was done, they told us that they would send us a bill. Almost unheard of today. When we need more tree work done, they will be the first one we call. Cudos all around.

The company came out right after we called for an estimate and explained everything to my wife who was at home. The price was fair or even better than some of the estimates we had recieved. The maple tree was in the county blvd. so permits were needed and they took care of all the paperwork and pulling of the permits. The day they were to come out they were going to be 2 hours later than expected due to a previous job and called us early in the morning to let us know. The crews came and were very fast and cleaned up after they were done. The stumps were ground that very day. The only problem was a small crack in the fairly new sidewalk across the corner which they came out and fixed without questions or arguement and even took some off the bill to compensate. We would definatly use them again and will suggest them to friends and family.

I had already removed one small shrub myself and gave up on a larger one, and was not looking forward to the other twelve. I was pricing out rental fees on a stump grinder and shrub disposal (rent a chipper?, how many trips to the landfill with my trailer?) and I was letting family and friends know that I might be asking for their help soon; especially the brother-in-law with the chain saw. So I signed up for Angie's List. I selected three tree service companies that had high ratings provided by a large group of responders. Horton emailed first, another called, and I never heard from the third. Horton's estimator stopped by my place and reviewed my request while I was at work. I received an estimate by email along with a copy of their insurance. Let me just say I WAS SHOCKED BY THE PRICE!!! IT WAS SO LOW!!!! I waited a few days to get estimates from the others. The second estimate came in $100 more expensive. So I responded to Horton by email and they set up an arrival time on a Monday morning at 830 AM. On Monday morning I left a check in an envelope by the back door. I was at work by 830 but I ended up leaving early and arrived home by 1100 AM. All the work was done! All that was left was the bare earth where all my shrubs had been and a small pile of chips where the pine tree was located. I spoke with my neighbor and she said they had a four or five man crew with a tree chipper and stump grinder. They all had their jobs to do and they worked very quickly. She said they were done in one hour(!). So, I think they did an excellent job, they were inexpensive and fast, and they did exactly what they said they would do. The funny thing is, I never met a single person from the company. It was like waving a wand, and poof!!!, the work was done. I like that. I would have spent nearly as much money on tool rental fees and food and beverages for the people who would have helped, and it would have been a lot of work. I could not write that check fast enough to Horton's.

I've used them a few times. They did a great job. They delievered what they promise. They are very convenient. I don't have to even be home while they work. I was impressed on how much of a difference a well trimmed tree makes on the appearence of my home.

They came out right away and gave me an estimate. They said they would be out within a week. I didn't hear from them again. Since they gave me such a professional estimate, I called them back. The secretary had misplaced the information and they said they would be out in a week and a half. I had to wait again. I didn't hire anybody else. When they finally came out, they were fantastic. Nobody was resting, everyone was doing something. In an hour, they trimmed three large trees in my backyard. They cleaned up and I was getting ready to pay them, they told me that they would bill me a couple of days. They took some shrub limbs to the trash for me. If you can get them to come out, they are fantastic. I received quotes from two other individuals and they wanted $100 more.

The crew was very professional and did an excellent job cleaning up the area. I would recommend them to anyone looking for tree service.

They were phenomenal. They were very responsive. They were experienced. They were quick and gave importance to safety first. I would recommend them. They worked very hard to make sure that they didn’t break anything in our yard as the tree came down.

I was at work the early part of the day and got home around 2pm. I came home to a street full of equipment and a lot of activity. I knew these trees would be difficult to remove because they were both probably over 100 feet tall and close to the house, garages, and utility lines. To my surprise they were almost finished, having just the main trunk of the second tree left. All of the workers were very polite and answered the few questions I had about what had gone on. They worked well with my neighbors (one maple was actually in the fence, the one on the other side was close to the neighbors garage) They cleaned up every scrap of mess, even sweeping the street where the chipper had worked. Everything but the stump grinding was done by 4pm. The stump grinders came the next day. When I noticed on the weekend that they had missed grinding the apple tree, they came the day after I called them. I am very pleased with their work.

Excellent service. When I called for an estimate, I was informed they were a little behind from a recent storm but would be out in 3-5 days which they did. The estimate was reasonable. For just the tree removal, I had been given an estimate $300 higher from another company. Dale, who did the estimate, asked me if it was OK to delay the work for at least 3 weeks because of a work backlog. Since there was no urgency on my part , I agreed. Imagine my surprise when they came within 2 weeks! The workers were great and did their job efficiently. All the work was done with no damage to my lawn. I had a few questions/concerns which were handled very politely by the office staff, Kelly and Kim. I would definitely recommend Horton's Tree Service and will use them again in the future.
