Cregger Plumbing, Heating & Cooling

Dave arrived on-time on Thursday and took care of the toilet problem which appears to be related to the house settling. Not only was the wax ring replaced but he also replaced the flexible water feed line from the valve next to the toilet to the tank and installed new hold-down bolts/nuts. After looking at the main bath sink situation he found he didn't have everything he needed to solve the problem so he returned on Friday and took care of the rest. No mess was left behind with either visit and all work was done to our satisfaction. I will definitely call Cregger when I need plumbing work done in the future and I recommend these guys.

My basement floor drain was backing up on a Saturday. I called Cregger and they told me what it would cost to come out that day to check it out. I asked if I could use one of their coupons but was told that the coupons were only to be used during normal business hours (i.e. M - F, 9:00 - 5:00 PM) so I made the decision to wait until Monday. I called their answering service and asked that someone call me on Monday to schedule me. On Monday, when I hadn't heard from anyone from Cregger, I called their office and was told that I was already on the schedule - which was impressive. Mark showed up that afternoon and it turned out that it was only a blocked floor drain. He plunged 3 times and debris and water came up on the floor. He pushed the water back into the floor drain and then asked me for something to wipe up the debris. So I gave him some paper towels*. When it came time to settle up, Mark advised that he would only charge me a service call of $89.00. I used a $25 coupon that Cregger offered so my out of pocket cost was only $64.00. The use of customer supplies to clean up seems to be the 'norm" for Cregger. That would be my only comment. Other than that, it was a very good experience and I would happily use them again.

I had a leak in my basement coming from my upstairs bathroom galvanized pipes. I have a Home Warranty plan and their service company came out and told me that I would have to replumb the lavatory and toilet in my upstairs bathroom (did not include my tum so basically only half of the bathroom) and in order to do that they would have to open up a wall in my den to get to the pipes, etc, etc, Now the remainder of my home had already been plumbed w/ copper and they were proposing to use PVC for the portion that they would be doing in the upstairs bathroom. This meant that I would have three (3) different types of pipe in my home - copper, galvanized and PVC (w/ 2 of the 3 pipes in the same bathroom). And I had to gulp at their quote. Then I found out that I could negotiate for a cash settlement with the Home Warranty company so I started to "shop around". Well, Cregger Plumbing was highly rated on Angie's List and they were the first that I called for a quote. I was immediately impressed w/ their professionalism, promptness and especially their quote which was a third less than what I had been quoted by the Home Warranty company. AND they said that all the work could be done from below/basement, no drywall would need to be opened, they would use all copper pipe AND they would plumb the entire bathroom - not just half. And an additional bonus was that they guarantee their work for life. The other company never even mentioned any kind of warranty. I contracted them, took advantage of one of the "deals" - $200 of plumbing for $99 and they came out and completed the work in one day. They couldn't have been nicer. Coincidently, while they were here, another plumbing issue revealed itself in the upstairs bathroom. While they were testing the new plumbing by running water, the P-trap for the upstairs lavatory started to leak. The guy upstairs, running the water, didn't notice it right away. It was the guy downstairs that started to yell when he began to be "rained on". So the water was then turned off. But not before the cabinet, drawers and underneath vanity were all wet. So they replaced the metal unit w/ PVC which I understand is much better for the drain. (This was an additional cost but I was kind of over a barrel at that point.) They did point out that this trap would have eventually leaked. They finished in one day as quoted. My only comments would be the following: 1) they did not put a tarp down in the downstairs bathrom (the area in which they were working) and the debris from their work was all over my white tile/white grout floor upon which they were walking. When it came time to clean up, they didn't seem to have the materials w/ them to do an adequate job. They swept the "wet" debris and then help themselves to a roll of paper towel that was in my downstairs bathroom to "wipe up". They did ask me if I was satisfied w/ the cleanliness of the area and I said yes only because I didn't think that they were going to do much better than they already had. I did vacuum and wipe down everything after they left and the grout is no longer "white" in areas. 2) they left the old galvanized pipes in the walls which is the reason they didn't have to open up any walls which I agreed to. However, they cut the pipe that had rusted and was the leaky culprit in order for them to not open up walls. They advised that I not reinstall the ceiling tile in the downstairs bathroom for a couple of days as the pipe might continue to drip. Unfortunately, I didn't think to put a bucket under the pipe nor did they suggest that and now I have a quarter-size rust spot on my grout which I have not been able to remove. That was not directly related to their work but I do feel that they coulda/shoulda/woulda suggested a bucket be placed underneath. 3) For the flooding that happened in the upstairs bathroom, they again asked me for materials to clean it up - paper towels. Overall, I was very pleased w/ the end result and would use them again in spite of the few negatives. I'll just be more aware and adamant about tarps, clean-up, etc. P.S. Based on my recommendations, my sister has since used them as well for a major drain problem she had in her basement and she received the same level of responsiveness and professionalism. She was very happy w/ their work too and I notice that their magnet is now a permanent fixture on her fridge.

They did an excellent job. The service person, Richard, was very responsive. He had answered the phone when I called and remembered what I needed done. I was pleased that he remembered talking to me as I'm sure they talk to a lot of people. He was overall very courteous and I was pleased with their service.

The connector for my shower fell apart while trying to change the knobs (it was very old and very oxidized), so I decided to just have the entire piping replaced. Gregory showed up right on time, cut the old pipe, soldered new stuff to a brass fitting I had purchased as part of a set, and got everything in working order. Best of all, he took the time to make sure the knobs fit properly (cutting the plastic back a bit) even after the plumbing job was done. In all, 2 hours of work for $125.00 (with $25 Angie's List coupon) was a great deal.

They did good job. I have known them for a while and am extremely pleased work.

A call placed to Cregger at about 5:05 on Thursday and message left with answering service. By 5:15 on Thursday Bill called to make appt. He said he'd call Friday morning between 8am and 8:30am to inform me of what time Friday afternoon a repairman could arrive. On Friday at 7:50am Bill called to report a repairman would arrive between 1pm - 5pm and that they would call about 30minutes before arrival. At 12:25pm received a call that the plumber would be there within 30 minutes. Plumber arrived at 1pm. The plumber quickly diagnosed problem. Fix completed in less than 30 minutes. Plumber cleaned work area and disposed of broken equipment. Gave me $25 coupon discount.

The work was completed quickly and professionally.

I called the septic company who drained the tank. There was no water entering the tank after flushing the toilet several times. He ended up snaking out the pipes and found several wipes which had been flushed. The solution was in fact a plumming issue. Additinal cost $345.

I purchased a "Big Deal" from Angie's list for $200 worth of services, and the above work cost me an additional $25 (so the total would have been $225). In pricing out estimates prior to this purchase, I believe this was cost competitive. We discussed the work I needed on the phone, made the appt., and he came out on time and was polite and professional. He worked consistently from start to finish and all work was completed quickly and thoroughly. I would have no hesitation in hiring this company again.

Because it sounded relatively minor, I purchased an Angie's List coupon for discounted services and, after speaking with a woman at the shop, felt confident the work would be covered. The plumber arrived and told me he would be performing an estimate first,to which I replied that I'd already sent the inspection order from the city. It seems it never got to them, so I said an inspection would be fine, since my tenant had an issue with the outside water line. Richard not only quickly estimated the cost and timing of the needed work, he diligently went to work assessing the outside water line problem - AND showed my tenant how to stop her toilet from continuously running! Richard then gave me both the company's email address and his personal cell number so that we could confirm that, when I resent the inspection report, it was received. He later confirmed that the report was received and said that the estimate he had given me may now not be correct, given that, as he read the report, the insulation was not called for by the inspector. He returned to the add the valve and told me he had called the inspector to clarify exactly what insulation was and wasn't needed in the home. Like the outside water line assessment, this was another example of a company and its staff going above and beyond. He installed the valve and let me know that he was exchanging messages with the inspector, but believed that the cost would not exceed $600 and I had a $25 credit remaining from my coupon. After confirming with the inspector what was needed, Richard called and told me the total cost would be $525 and I could apply my $25 to this cost. He returned and completed the insulation in less than two hours. Richard was honest, efficient and went above and beyond my expectations. All of my calls to the office were answered immediately and clearly, with absolutely no hassle. I will use and recommend Creggar Plumbing in the future with confidence.

I was really impressed with the customer service. The office was courteous and helpful when I first called, and they called me back with an estimate within an hour. We set up an appointment and the office called the morning of the appointment to give me an update of when he would arrive. Kevin introduced himself and shook my hand immediately, he was friendly and smiled.. He did the work efficiently and was done sooner than I expected. This was a very good experience, and I will call them again. I would recommend them highly!

It went very well. The problems with our bathroom had been going on for a while and had defeated another plumber but they were able to fix it quickly and neatly. They were polite, friendly and professional.

An excellent experience throughout! Both the office staff & the technicians were very professional, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. I was happy with the service & the quality work performed then, and I'm still happy with it now.... 5 mos. later. Everything was replaced, repaired, installed & cleared in a timely fashion & they didn't even leave a mess! That's an exceptional quality of their work!

Appointment was set four days after my call. Serviceman showed up exactly on time and was very helpful in explaining the ins and outs of the job. He was clearly a very knowledgeable and capable professional. But their Pricing estimate was given as $690. This was outrageous in my opinion and is 3 times what I expected for a 2-hour job maximum. I obtained quotes from other highly-rated Angie's List plumbers for the same job and Cregger was by far and away higher than anyone else on Angie's list. Here are all the prices I got: $690, $535, $450, $175 I sincerely want to call on Creggers to do this job, but am not made of money, so the only option was to use another company.

Ever since a very bad experience with another plumbing company, we have always used Cregger. They are responsive and dependable. We had to call them out at our old house once because our sump pump quit on us at 11 at night and our basement was slowly flooding. They were there within an hour and didn't even seem cranky about being called out and replacing a pump at midnight. After our HUGE job in our new house we had a completely unrelated leak and called them out again. It was a simple fix and they did it free of charge. Definitely recommended.

They were great and I will be using them.

I have to say after being on Angie's List for several years,it's nice to deal with a company with such high ratings and reviews,that meet and exceed their reputation,when I have,frankly,dealt with other "highly rated" companies,that decidedly have not. Kudos,for Cregger Plumbing for handling the first smaller job to the second unexpectedly longer and harder job. Also,making sure everything was working to coming back out when there were a couple of little hiccups. I have to thank,firstly ,the owner, for the coupon usage, I am aware that you didn't have to approve or say yes to it's usage.Thanks to Bill,Dave and David,for the their expertise.I have to really single out Cathy and Greg. Cathy ,thank you for your efficiency,kindness and keeping everything running smoothly. I really,believe all good business transactions begin from first contact and the office, Cathy they are lucky to have you. Had water leaking from toilet, when flushed, down into our (unfinished) basement. Appointment setup was fast and easy. We did not have to wait long to have the service call. Serviceman ( Mark ) came to inspect. Mark inspected the installation and telephoned for some support to identify possible internal structures specific to our toilet model that might be the root cause. He identified two possible root causes. One possibility was that an internal component had cracked....in which case, the replacement part would have cost more than the original purchase price of the toilet because the (Kohler) model had been discontinued. He offered to order the part to have on standby, and recommended that we not remove the toilet unless we had replacement parts ready. However, he advised us against this and instead recommended that we purchase a new toilet and save a little $$ in the short term, and also in the long-term. (future part replacement) We really appreciated Marks consideration and depth of thought for our situation, and appreciate him making the extra effort to ask around and then call us back to give us the options and estimated pricing up front for us to consider. So, we secured the new toilet and were ready for the scheduled day of service. Dave was our plumber who did the work. Dave removed the existing toilet and informed us that it was installed improperly, but not damaged. The flange was mounted flush to the sub-floor, and not to the tile. Moreover, the plumber who installed it only used one wax ring (should have used two) and this did not allow sufficient compression of the wax ring to make a nice seal. This was allowing sewage gasses to escape, as well as sewage leaks. Dave replaced the wax rings, re-installed the connections and re-sealed the base to the tile with a silicone sealer. C for price: $245 just seems like a very premium price for the work that was performed.B for quality: Not totally happy with the finish appearance of the silicone sealant around the base to tile...but there are no leaks! Job was done, from start to finish, on time and in a professional manner. All of Creggers' crew that we encountered were top-notch professionals who made it easy for us to work with. We will definitely use Cregger again! Thank you Mark and Dave.

Used a Big Deal Coupon for $200 worth of plumbing services.They repaired a leaking whirlpool bathtub and installed the water line in my new refrigerator. The tub continued to leak afater the first visit and they didn't heistate to send a plumber back out to investigate - problem solved. Everyone that I dealt with was friendly and professional; I was very pleased with the service.

Scheduled the service, they arrived promptly, did the work digging thru hard clay, replaced the crock line with a section of pvc, replaced the pipe in basement, filled the hole and cleaned up - all work done between 9:30 - 4:15 that day. Provided directions on how to let the work settle in and how long to wait before leveling/reseeding the area. Very happy - hope I don't need to use them again for a long time (other than regular cleaning/maintenance), but HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
