In the end the work done was complete, professional and of good quality. The plumber did not notice the size of the PVC that I had in my basement would prevent the cutter from working so he was unable to complete the work on the first appointment. In addition, I had to have the existing PVC cut and then re-installed in order to have the work completed. Although his error required rescheduling and additional cost, he gave me a break on the costs since it was his mistake and required a second appointment. He handled the situation very well and I was quite satisfied with the work they did.
Description of Work: Video review of combo drain to storm sewer for blockages, roots, mineral deposits. Used cutter to clean out mineral deposits. Also relocated an outside spigot.

After experiencing and fixing what we thought were minor drain clog issues yesterday, we woke to find standing water in the basement drain. We've used Cregger once in the past and were thrilled to see them top of Angie's List. We called at 9:53 a.m. and explained the situation to the answering service. We received a call back at 10:02a.m. After discussing the issue and possible solutions, the service rep wanted to make sure we wanted a tech to come out today, as it was the weekend, it would be considered emergency service, and cost $100-$125 additional. We decided to go ahead, as we were afraid to run any water (think: no brushing teeth or flushing the toilet!), it's laundry day, and we have several pets. The rep again repeated the cost of the emergency service call, and we confirmed. Yes, no running water for 24 was an emergency in our house! The rep told me he would call the tech and he should be at our house within 60-90 minutes. The tech called at 10:14 a.m. to let us know he was on his way to get the truck and would be at our house within an hour. He arrived at approx. 11a.m. We showed him the problem, (and mentioned a few others since he was a 'captive audience'.) He told us he'd snake the drain, in 15' increments. Depending on the results, he would go as far as 45'. He let us know that due to the small space he'd be working in, he wouldn't be able to use something that would keep the snake from whipping around, and it could get loud. Good to know, so we could comfort the animals. I watched as the tech did the snaking, husband stayed with the critters. We had success about 40' in. What a relief to see the water disappear down the drain! I asked what could be done to prevent this in the future. Were advised to use a lint trap; and if it was roots, that was a different story. The tech took the time to walk outside with us and take a look at where the city sewer line is and compare proximity to a big oak tree in the yard. He theorized that it could be roots from the tree and remedies could range from a root treatment ($595 each time, guaranteed for one year) to a dig (house to curb; $4500). He let us know that we could request a camera view at no charge that would help determine the 'root cause' of the problem. After receiving the bill ($245), I presented the $25 off Angie's List coupon, which he quickly removed from the final cost. He left at approx. 12:10p.m. Two hours and $220 later, we have a (temporarily) unclogged drain, can do laundry and give our pets fresh water, and most importantly, we can flush the toilet. Thank you Cregger Plumbing! We look forward to calling you when we're ready to install a half bath in the basement!

I called Cregger to install a sump pump and backup. The plumber was on time, very friendly, and recommended I simply change the current configuration of my pump rather than putting in a new one, which saved me several hundred dollars. Unfortunately, the very next day one of the pvc pipes he had installed slipped from the collar where it mates to the check valve, spewing water all over the basement near my sump pump. I would normally give a company a failing grade for something like that, but when I called Cregger they immediately sent the same person to my house, despite that fact that it was a Saturday and his day off. He was extremely apologetic and corrected the problem at no charge. So I can't give Cregger an A overall due to the issue, but I'm very impressed with how they responded and I believe this was a rare mistake rather than a consistent quality issue. I will likely use them again.

From the camera inspection, it was determined that my sewer line was fine and maybe the depression is being caused by a bad water pipe either from my house or from the city lines to the street. Derek was very informative regarding these matters and suggested I next check with the City of Royal Oak Water Department - very helpful.

The first service technician who called me after visiting the job didn't make the best impression on me and he couldn't really answer my questions. He could tell I was a bit frustrated so I was able to communicate with someone else at the office . They took care of the immediate problem and then came back the next day to provide me with all the answers to my questions. The did a superb job, gave me a fair price, and were very profession and clean. I really appreciated the follow up an the willingness to work with me to make me happy.

They made repairs on July 2 and was to come back on the 3rd with a spigot part. I had to call on July 5 since repair was not completed. All other work was done well and quickly. I paid Angie's List $111 for $200 of service. Cregger's charged $370 and subtracted $200 and I paid them a balance of $170. I paid a total of $281 for the work. I thought I would have saved more than $81 through Angie's List.

The office was professional, friendly, and set up a technician to visit my house for the hot water heater repair the next day (I did not request emergency service). The technician took a quick look at the hot water heater, told me it would take 2-4 days to get the part I needed because the heater was old (it is 8 years old). He estimated the cost of repair, parts and labor at $480. But, he said he could get me a deal of $1,000 for a new hot water heater that could be installed the next day. I told him I'd think about it and call the office tomorrow. When he left, I called the local plumbing supply company. They had the part in stock, recommended a plumber to install it, and I had it fixed by that plumber the next day for $271.

Estimate for the work was free and scheduled quickly. Dennis was on time for the estimate and willing to answer my questions. We purchased the $111 for $200 coupon and scheduled an appointment for the installation. Dennis also did the installation. He was on time, placed a drop cloth between the front door and the basement stairs, and did the installation quickly. The work was done as we requested with the line easily covered by drywall (when we get to that point). The price was the same as the estimate. He processed our credit card payment with a cell phone app.

The man came quickly, worked efficiently, was polite and helpful, finished, and left. However, he forgot, and I forgot, that he needed to return with a metal cap to cover the hole where the old faucet had a separaate spray. When I removed the utensil holder I had put over the hole, I realized, and called in July to get the cover put on; they sent him back quickly--in a day and a half. He apologized, and I also did--we both forgot, even though it was his task to remember.. When he returned we agreed that I would call later to have the sewer inspected from the toilet out through the clean out and to the street. Part of that will be free, from cleanout to street. The other part will be charged, from toilet to clean out. I have a difficult "hanging sewer," so continued inspections are necessary--I have had them before. I am glad to change to this company because it is small enough and professional enough so that I will know who will come, and know they know their business and they also care. WIthout Angie's List I would not have been able to find them. About half of the cost was the faucet itself, with the spray incorporated in the faucet. I also used coupon for $200 of the charge.

The actual labor was fine. The first plumber (Mark) on site determined the problem and said he didn't have the part need. It would have to be ordered. He asked for a check for $145 which should have been covered by the coupon. The problem was that my Angie's List coupon wasn't deducted from the initial service visit. It was both my and his fault for not catching this at the time. Before the part came in, I realized the mistake and called Creggers to get it rectified. The girl at the office was new and couldn't really understand what I was trying to tell her. The end result (after several calls to the company) was that the part was ordered and installed - problem corrected - by a second different Cregger plumber (David.) When I told David of the payment mistake, he understood immediately and called the 1st installer (Mark) to verify. The mistake was acknowledged and I was told that I would have to call the owner, Derek, to get an ok for a check refund. I called Derek and explained. After sorting it all out, Derek did acknowledge that I should receive a check reimbursement for the extra money I paid. I received the reimbursement in 2 days. The work was done well, but I am giving the grade of "B" since there was such confusion over the billing. I do admit I should have caught it myself, but, the first plumber on site did initially bill me incorrectly, which he shouldn't have done. Lots of confusion!

We couldn't be happier with our service, performed by Mike from Cregger. He came to our house to assess the situation very promptly, diagnosed the situation, and quickly let us know what to expect and what we needed to do to prepare the area. We scheduled the work for a few days later, and he arrived promptly and did excellent, quick work. He even specifically thought to let me know when I should expect loud noises so that I could keep my dogs calm and happy. We absolutely recommend Mike and Cregger, and they'll be replacing our previous regular plumber for all jobs from now on. We're sold.

David arrived on time and the service called 1/2 hour ahead to let me know he was coming. I had 2 issues; extending the gas line in the basement for a new clothes dryer, which he quoted me on and a leaking seal under my ground floor toilet. the quote was given for a future visit and the ring was quickly swapped out and tested. The entire visit took less than 1 hour. the technician was polite, clean and efficient despite the excessive heat of that day. I explained my needs and he acknowledged the need to comply with code and what that would take. I appreciate his opinion on the matter.

The plumber was not lined up correctly based on the work that was asked to be done. The plumber did more work than what he was asked to do and charged for it. The plumber thought he needed to removed the new disposal to hook up the wiring, that was not needed. The wiring to the disposal was wired up wrong also. I had to go back and fix it myself, even though I paid him to do this work. I had to have him come back and setup the waste line correctly even after I talked to him about it and how it was needed to be done correctly, which he still did wrong. I followed up with a phone call on this about how this work was greatly over priced based on the quote I was given. The quote was $450 and I was charge over $750. For being way over charged, poor services, work not being done correct, the plumber being rude when I questioned his work, this was a very bad experience.
