"Thank you for sharing your feedback of your experience. it is important to us. We're sorry you were not happy with the service provided. Indeed it looks like we were at the home a few times when your spouse was present. Sometimes it does take multiple visits but we do understand larger scale issues can be frustrating and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. While at your home the technician noted there could be issues and blockage to traps and could lead to water in the home, however service to rectify that issue was declined. We surely want you to be satisfied and happy with a complete scope of work and offer the opportunity to give us a call back so that we can follow up with you. Thank you again for your feedback and, if there is anything else we can do for you, please do not hesitate to return our call. 248-644-7810."

I’ve used them for a couple years. They are very prompt and they come when they say they are coming. The people that work for them are very professional. However, their price is on the high side.

Once here, no trouble. Kevin McCarthy did the work, and within an hour both drains were cleared.

David was punctual and he and the company were very communicative re: arrival time.  My new back up sump pump had failed twice, causing 2 floods in the basement.  He was able to come out that day and diagnose and fix the problem.  He also will return next week to put the finishing touches on the job.  David is a Master Plumber.  He was very professional, but also friendly.  He took the time to explain the situation to my elderly father.  Having had some "not so positive" experiences lately this was a breath of fresh air.  I doubt I will ever use anyone else in the future as I can't imagine a better quality provider.

"Thank you for your feedback. The new owners have held the company for 10 years now and we've much improved in many areas. We thank you for the opportunity to bid on work you had at your home and honor your right to decline service for any reason. Over the years we've only grown with a customer first mindset and hope to regain your confidence. If not, again, we thank you for the opportunity all those years ago."

Inspected two furnaces.  Did not fix a thing.  Did not service any of the filters / humidifiers / components.  The recommendation for the solarium ignored our stated desires (heat the room on rare occasions during the winter holidays), and instead went for the gold-plated, most expensive option with a price tag of over $6,000.  Did not even offer a range of solutions.

We have had them out a few times over about a ten year period. Their prices are expensive, but their work is exemplary. We have never had any troubles with the work they have done.  I would consider contacting them again for plumbing, but I would contact other companies for estimates as well.

The website said clearly, "99$ to unclog any drain".  so I called them and asked specifically, "this is the final price, correct?, no add ons?"  answer: yes.  So I arranged it for my aging father.
come to find out the final bill was 200$ because they replaced a trap pipe, apparently.  dont know if they asked my dad if it was ok to inflate the price or not, all I know is he has a 200$ bill now.
they also came out previously after the flood to check the furnace.  it was already working, so my dad unnecessarily made the appt for them to come.  Here, he was socked with I think about a 350$ bill for what should have been a simple inspection.  I think they found some part to replace that I think they said was "dirty".
Buyer beware.
Response from Chase Swartwood
"[Members Name] thank you for posting your review, we welcome every chance to evaluate and improve. The unclogging of the drain is $99, however, additional, approved work was done at the home that day. Also, along the with furnace inspection and maintenance that was done following the flood, you are correct, it was working -there was a part replaced on the 50 year old furnace due to scale and carbon build up. If there is any way we can assist or follow up for you, please don't hesitate to give us a call 248-644-7810. We understand your concern and are more than happy to find the best possible solution. Thank you again for taking the time to share your feedback."

The technician does not seem to have a good knowledge of what is going on. Check all the circuits, and claimed that the wiring does not seems right to him. He even suspected DTE issue.
By several failed trials, finally he found that it is the low pressure switch that prohibits the AC to work normally by calling for help, and he adds some refrigerant. It has been almost 4 hours. He did NOT perform a leak check, and charged high diagnostic fee and refrigerant recharging fee.
I hope he did not mess up the circuits.
In all, it is not a good experience, and I would very hesitate to use them again .

This company is unethical. Do not use them. I made the mistake of finding this out twice. First they came out to jet out my main drain line. In the process, they informed me that my pipes were eroding and they needed to tear up my basement floor and replace 30' of piping. I brought Nelson Brothers out for a second opinion and they took a camera foot by foot and said nothing was wrong with my pipes. Then, due to a service plan, I called them back when I had a leaky garage disposal. The technician told me "my housing was cracked" and I needed to replace the disposal. My fiancé came home to look at it and looked at the connection from the kitchen drain and saw that the washer was on the wrong side of the connection. He fixed it for free. I'm now leak free. I actually called the company to tell them I will not use them again and I will forewarn others. I value good, honest service and that's not what I received.

I'm buying a house and closed on it yesterday. The seller had told me that the kitchen faucet leaked but he had prepaid to have it repaired. The plumber from Thornton and Grooms came today. The faucet is a Kohler pull-out and would cost me $217 at a plumbing supply house. The cartridge is $8.00 at the same supply. The plumber took 10 min to replace the cartridge. When the work was done he said I needed to sign a receipt to show that the work was done. When he gave me the receipt I almost fainted. Thornton and Grooms charged the seller $420 to replace the cartridge, a price that I think is unconscionable. I had a previous experience with Thornton and Grooms. It was about 2 years ago. I was out of town and my wife called and told me that the toilet in our master bath was leaking and there was a puddle of water under it. She was concerned so I said she should call a plumber to have a look at it. She called Thornton and Grooms. The plumber told her that the toilet needed to be replaced and it would cost about $1000. She called me and I told her she must have misunderstood because no way would it cost that much to replace that toilet. The plumber was still there, I talked to him and, yes, he said it would cost about $1000; he could get an exact figure. I talked to my wife; told her how to turn off the water to the toilet and said she should use one of the other toilets in the house until I got back. When I returned I found that there was nothing at all wrong with the toilet. The leak was coming from the water supply line. I got a new water line at the local hardware for $7.50 and fixed the toilet. Under no circumstances should you use Thornton and Grooms.

The job was done properly and I was satisfied with the work. The plumber cleaned up and removed the old disposal.I thought the price was a little high considering the install only required about 3/4 hour. Note: The total cost of the service included a new disposal.
