Description of Work: They fixed interior damage from a skylight leak and properly reinstalled two skylights. The crew was very professional. The work was far superior to what we had been living with. They were prompt in giving me an estimate, but were unable to fix the leak immediately due to other jobs. They did not advise me when they would be out, and I was not home when the crew called saying they were on their way. I returned home to find them in my driveway setting up to work. The guys were great, and cleaned up after the job was done. I'm pleased with the job, and will call them again, as they are the only roofing company I have found with expertise in skylights. |+

Description of Work: I made an appt for a quote on James Hardie siding and new gutters, and perhaps for windows. The salesman was late, |Arrived without the info I had specifically requested on the phone. He then promised to get me a quote within the next three days. He never bothered to contact me. I'm pretty sure he was the son of the owners. Obviously, they don't need business and I can't figure out why they bother to advertise. I saw several other comments online that it is typical of the way they treat customers.

Description of Work: McGlinch & Sons replaced our windows (22) with a PlyGem Mastic. The supplier (PlyGem Mastic) send the wrong windows (22 of them). It took 2+ years to get the windows straightened out. McGlinch stood by us (the consumer) and made sure the correct windows were installed to our satisfaction.

 + -1 moreBeware of "bait and switch" tactics utilized by McGlinch and Sons. Here is my account of events: McGlinch and Sons provided a quote but their quote was the second highest (of six). Salesman called and told me he "wanted my business and would meet my best spec and quote". Salesman came to my home, reviewed specs and quotation from competitor to confirm common spec and terms. After reviewing specs and price we shook hands and agreed we had a "done deal". Then, believing we had an agreement I declined quotations from other companies. Salesman then called and told me he wouldn't meet the agreed price. Bottom line, I now have to start the entire quote process over again with a new set of contractors. In my opinion this is a "bait and switch" practice that boarders on the unethical.

Description of Work: Received estimate, but company did not do the work. The response was quick and and I received the estimate within a couple of days of my initial telephone conversation. I did not get the work done because the price was a little more than I expected and decided to postphone the work until I can save additional money.

 + 0 moreMcGlinch and Sons did a wonderful job with the roof. Joe is a wonderful salesman. The price was compatible to the estimates I received. My only complaint is they could have communicated a little better. Such as letting me know debris would fall through the attic space and be everywhere, my satellite dish may not work afterwards and will need to call a service person to reconnect it, and my flower bed would be destroyed. If they had just told me, I could have covered up clothes in my attic and moved a few of my plants, since they were in pots. As a courtesy, they could have trimmed a few tree branches. They also had to replace a gutter; this took an additional 10 days to put up and they left the old gutter in my backyard. I've called a few times; they still haven't picked it up. It may be the gutter guys are different than the roofers, but no one communicated this with me. But the roof looks great; it's the communication that needs to be tweaked a little.
Description of Work: Tore off the old roof, added a new roof, and replaced one gutter.
