I called for a quote for siding. appointment was made for a few days later. Brendan came to my house on time, spent approximately 1 hour with me, took pics of the house. Gave me great info on siding application, ect. He then told me he would email me a quote in a few days. It was right before a holiday weekend. I never heard from him. I emailed him to make sure he had the right email address, never heard from him again. Quite a shame, because I enjoyed the time he spent here, and would have seriously considered hiring them for the job had a received my quote.

This company was really impressive. They really knew what they were talking about. They answered questions I had and were easy to work with.

Installation was smooth. It took a while to get an installation date and time, but eventual installation went well.

Brendan took our quote after visiting and reviewing the problem: very old, leaky skylights. He said we'd need custom Velux skylights and custom frames and that there may be damage to the underlying wood. Joe and his crew arrived on time and fully equipped. The custom glass fit nicely. Everyone was courteous and professional and they finished in a day and a half. The crew was able to replace the damaged wood and Joe worked wonders with a longstanding tilt of the frame due to warping -- something we thought was unfixable. Very skilled carpenters. No leak so far and we've had several rainy days since the job. We're cautiously optimistic since the work appears to be superb and McGlinch were top notch workers. 10 year warranty is reassuring -- and they've been in business for almost a century.Would definitely recommend them for this type of work.

The work was done well, and the installers couldn't have been better. They did a good job and were very professional.

Work was done promptly at my 89 year old mother-in-law's home. After the work was completed, she had an immediate problem with the flashing and McGlinch came back and added flashing. In the same area where the problem flashing was noted, less than one year later, we started calling due to a leak in the bedroom ceiling-- drywall is now damaged. We have called at least FOUR times, and each time they promised to come out and repair. 1/31/12 UPDATE: Spoke with Ryan at McGlinch. After a lengthy conversation, I think we agreed that our roofing concerns and McGlinch responses had not been communicated--both to and from the company-- properly. In Dec 2011, McGlinch DID apparently come out and do some repairs when no one was at home. Because the drywall is still falling from the ceiling, and we did not know McGlinch had been out, we assumed the repairs had not been done. After further investigation, it appears that the main issue now is just that the drywall needs to be repaired. Ryan has agreed that McGlinch will take care of the drywall issues within a reasonable time frame. McGlinch suggested that we provide one responsible contact person and he will communicate directly with that person. AGREED.

called several Angie List companies. Some never called back. One said job too small( even though this house is veiry large they didnt want to be bothered And they were highly recomended ). We made a very excellent Choice with McGowen

Replaced all of the roofing, siding and gutters. The crew is fantastic. I highly recommend them.

It was an ongoing process and they did a good job. We liked the fact that they did what they said they were going to do and they came when they said they were going to come. There were no changes on the price. The workers were very good but the person that answered the phone when we called the office wasn't skilled enough. They didn't have an answer and would say that they would pass the information on. The salesperson who actually did the work gave us his personal cell phone number and that solved the problem, but it was a little bit irritating. We call somebody and they ask us who we are and what was it that they had done for us; and this when we have just spent about $10000 with them. There was one complication but I don't really think that it was their fault. We called them and they came right out and took care of the problem.

They are very thorough. They came out the day after they called. They arrived on time and were finished within 4 hours. They cleaned everything up after the installation.

Ryan McGlinch and his crew were prompt, efficient and did excellent work. They came when they said they would, did what they promised, were polite and neat. Ryan came and inspected each job when it was finished. We had only minor issues to discuss and all were promptly fixed. This was one service company I hired and felt good about writing the check for payment when the work was done.

2 years later having drywall repair in a bedroom ceiling, we found there was a 1-2 inch gap between the roof and the chimney! Looking through the hole in the bedroom ceiling, we could see sky! No wonder we had moisture problems! Was also told by other contractor that our ridge vents were ineffective. Granted this was all 7 yrs ago.

We called this contractor because they put the roof on six years ago and the problem may have been something that was covered by warranty. When I called, they said it was probably an ice d*** and would cost $300. Although I agreed to that amount of money I didn't realize that it would be a fifteen minute job, that did not even require a ladder. They came within the timeframe specified and cleaned up the snow that they raked off. Upon giving them the check, I had to ask for a receipt. They did not have anything to give me so I had the invoice that was e-mailed to me, marked paid by the representative. I'm not sure if this a normal price for something like this, but I think the time and effort involved should dictate the price.

Overall it went very well. Some last minute discussion on price and damage during the job. But based on the other 3 bidders, it was worth it. How I found McGlinch: They were recommended by our Allstate agent. They were local. And the salesman, Joe, and I had a mutual friend. Therefore, I figured if something really went wrong - I'd have leverage. Other bidders were also local. One knocked on our door prior to the storm and asked if we needed a new roof. The second two were a few blocks away and had done business in our area for years. Price: We got four bids. McGlinch was nearly 30% higher than their competitors. But we had heard good things about their workmanship and the salesman, Joe, was professional and not pushy....... So we went back to McGlinch and asked them for a detailed bid with a more competitive price. That would give us an opportunity to fairly evaluate them. In the end, they were 10-15% higher than the competition, but we got a very nice roof with excellent workmanship. Again, our insurance company inspected the roof and said he has seen very few roofs that everything was done right. Cons. I guess its the roofing or home repair industry, as everyone likes to tell you they aren't making any money on the deal. If the price is good until a certain date - 10 days, 30 days, or can change at any time - it should be stated on the bid. Ours was not. Apparently, the price of shingles went up due to increased oil prices. This was a logical explanation and frankly I believe him. But my bid said X dollars. We negotiated some more. We settled on a price $100 higher than their itemized bid. A fair price. We had some damage done to a piece of aluminum siding - the siding was pushed in - as if when taking off the roof, the roofer leaned into it and bent it. Joe first said McGlinch wasn't responsible. Then after I kept asking him questions why, he offered to replace the whole section, no charge to us. This wasn't a long debate, but I did get a few I'm not making any money on this job comments. THE GOOD NEWS IS THEY HAD SOMEONE RIGHT OUT AND DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB FIXING THE DAMAGE - I'M VERY HAPPY. Pros: Roofers - Masterful job. Very polite, prompt and carefully covered our plants and flowers. Clean-up wasn't perfect but very good. We only found 3 nails on the ground. That's impressive. When they damaged the aluminum siding they reported it immediately to us and said they'd take care of it back in the office. However, they didn't report it. But it was quickly resolved once I called the office. We also needed to have our chimney tuck-pointed. Joe arranged to have that done as well for a small fee. Well worth it and we appreciate his help in getting that done. Bottom line. I'm recommending them to everyone. The positives were a great roof, fair price, and everyone was good to work with - Joe - VP of sales and Scott the roofers team leader/supervisor.

Mcglinch and sons were not the first people we had out to check on the roof. The problem resulted from another roofing company that put the roof on in the first place. They couldn't find the problem, and neither could another roofing company. We were very happy to find Mcglinch, especially after they were able to fix the problem!

Mcglinch did a good and fast job. When the workers arrived, they got right to work. They were also very courteous.
