FANTASTIC! Did everything they said in a timely professional manner. Arrived on time, were courteous, cleaned up afterwards, and ran into an unexpected moisture issue in the attic that made the drywall work take quite a bit longer than expected. They did it right with no extra charge. I was impressed! I would use McGlinch and Sons in a minute. Highly recommended!

They were very professional and showed up right on time. They knew what they were talking about and they explained everything; but even so, their estimate was more than what I was willing to spend at that time.

The job was supposed to start in the beginning of Dec 2013 and last 1 week. It started Christmas week and final payment was rendered today, 4 1/2 months late. The job should never have been started that late in the year due to the weather, something the company should have known and explained to us (as we were novices). Once the gutters were torn off there was no option but to continue as one of the basements leaked due to the runoff of water. The consultant's communication skills were horrible throughout this process, often requiring 2 - 3 emails and calls before receiving a response. Once, during an illness on the part of the consultant, we had no idea what was going on for 3 weeks as the consultant did not reassign this case to another consultant. The consultant was late for appointments, or as for the appointment this morning, stated that he didn't know we had one. The office scheduled it and called us with the time. We find it difficult to believe the office did not tell him of the appointment. Had we not called him, he never would have shown up. The contract stated that all existing material would be ripped off before new siding was put on, but when the workers told the consultant that it was much harder to remove the siding then they thought, the consultant told them to reside over the existing, rotting siding. This was not his decision to make. We had to call the consultant to have that stopped, not really caring that they made progress. Then they wanted to charge us for the additional labor (which was deducted from the final bill). Once the workers stated they were done, we found nails and bits of siding that were not cleaned up and a downspout that was placed directly on top of a sprinkler head. More concerning was that they pulled the electric meters away from the condos and left them dangling! And, the boards holding one of the decks to the building was broken and neither side was re-attached until we brought it to the consultant's attention. We don't think it was too much to ask that the company stick to its timeline and honor its contract without us, the customer, having to continually police the progress. We are amazed that this consultant is still employed with the company, as one would think the treatment we received would also be experienced by others. We were thoroughly frustrated with this entire process and will never use McGlinch and Sons again. We have 9 other buildings to re-side and will use another contractor for them.

Our initial contact with Jason at McGlinch was pleasant and professional. However, the crew that arrived to do the actual work were sloppy and totally unprofessional. We're still picking up nails, wood, shingles and debris that they left scattered inside and outside our home. It was a real mess, but the worst was yet to come. The new roof leaked! Water literally streamed into our house when it rained. Apparently, the flashing job the McGlinch team did around our chimney was completely inadequate. Brendan McGlinch agreed to make 'cosmetic' repairs, but nothing to fix the leaks. Eventually, we gave up and paid someone else to finish their job. A terrible (and expensive) experience!

They were running behind on the first day but called to let me know. Installed 2 skylights that day before it got dark. Came out promptly the next day and installed the third one. The shade had to be special ordered and they came out about 5 days later and installed it. Took about 10 minutes. The install went well but the roof cleanup wasn't so great. When all the snow melted off the roof about 4 months later, I saw a lot off roofing nails and screws up on the roof. I went up there and cleaned up 46 screws and nails (I counted them) and a package of screws in the rain gutter. I thought everything should have been cleaned off the roof. But in fairness to them it was 2 really cold days for the install. That's why I didn't downgrade them for that. I would hire this company again for any roofing matter.

Called me to see if I was available for an earlier appt due to another customer's cancellation. I agreed. Two workers came, explained unexpected challenge with location of beam, explained alternative positioning. I agreed to the slightly off-center placement. They cut the opening in the roof, installed the sun tube, cleaned up, collected payment, and left. Good use of time.

They were good. They did a clean job and I haven't had any problems since then. He was very professional. He showed us everything that was wrong and showed up all the equipment he was going to use to fix the job. He did a great job. I highly recommend him.

Listened well and were careful around our hardwood floors. Encountered an issue with microhood due to overly deep cabinets. Fixed the issue and adjusted the installation. followed up to double check on everything.

McGlinch just provided an estimate which was unusually high.

The job last about an hour or so, they explained to us the problems and concerns we had at the time in a professional manner. We would use them again in the future if needed.

Ryan McGlinch was a pleasure to work with. He was responsive and professional. He and his crew were here when they said they would be. They were careful of existing vegetation when working on the second level which isn't easy to get to. They cleaned up what little mess they made (sawdust, etc.). From start to finish the project went smoothly. I'd use their service again in a heartbeat.

Contractor was responsive to our inquiry. Met with Brendan within the first few days of our inquiry. He identified the problem, reviewed, our options, and quickly provided a quote. Given the severe weather, there was a slight delay, but Brendan followed up as soon as it appeared the weather was going to be nice enough to do the work and we scheduled. They showed up on time and finished as promised. The work was performed on only 1/2 of our garage roof and they matched the shingles extremely well. You could only tell they were different if you knew... and even then I can't really tell. This is the 2nd time we have used McGlinch and we just don't call anyone else when we need roof work done. Highly recommended!

Work crew showed up on time and completed the work with two hours. Cleaned up after themselves. Very professional.

Decided not to use this firm. Price was a little high, and did not feel that they would provide services needed. Asked for quote on two skylights and a sun tunnel, but estimate only had skylights on it. When I emailed back they said it would be corrected, but got new quote and still no sun tunnel estimate. Roof was not inspected before estimate, so no way for them to be sure if additional work was needed until job would have been started.

Just a quick note before my review. I bought my house in January and have had five contractors work on it, including major electrical, plumbing, and basement repair work. I have had no issues with these other contractors and normally I am not someone who complains. That being said, I have a laundry list of issues with this contractor. I will give a compressed list on here for reviewer's consideration: -I was not informed when the job was being started. I was called the week before the job and they said it would start sometime the following week. I called back twice and tried to get a specific start date and no one returned my messages. I have large dogs that need to be locked up when contractors are at my house or they tear things up, so this was a big deal for me. -Garbage (coffee cups/food wrappers) and cigarette butts were left on my property daily and at the end of job. I had to clean these up. -The employees left a large amount of scrap from the job on my property. Large pieces, 1.5and quot; x 16and quot;, of wood and siding were left surrounding my house. Along with over 30 nails and screws, many of which were in my dog run. I spent about three hours cleaning this up. I stepped on one screw and it stabbed into my foot. -They broke one of my floodlights. -The quality of the gutters were great. They were installed well and look very nice. -The quality of the siding was truthfully pretty awful. Areas in the siding were buckling and wavy. The corners of the siding were not held together in any way. It was two pieces of siding cut then set against each other, which left gaps. Caulking was incomplete in multiple areas and in some areas looked awful and was dripping down onto the siding. Siding is still pulling away from the house in some areas. -It took me a month of leaving messages with this company to get a call back on these complaints. Employees have now come to my house twice, with no prior notice, to do small amounts of work on the above issues. They are slowly fixing things but only with multiple calls and emails from me. It has now been two weeks since I have heard anything from this company. I am very disappointed with the communication from this company, the professionalism of their employees, and the quality of the siding. I would not use them again in the future and I do not recommend you use them.

My overall experience with them went fairly well. They did a good job. Their professionalism, service, clean up, etc., was all fine.

Very poor response ... in fact no response. If the company was not going to quote my job, I wished that they would have said that from the beginning and not waste my time.

HIRE THIS COMPANY! THEY DO OTHER THINGS BESIDES JUST ROOFING. We needed a new roof to replace a and quot;mediocreand quot; one that was installed just 15 yrs ago (although it was supposed to have had a longer LIFE!) Salesman was very knowledgeable and answered MANY questions. Left us with a lot of material and detailed estimate sheet to consider. Of the 4 companies that we contacted, McGlinch (although not the least expensive) was the most professional and thorough. We visited their showroom and gathered more information, and placed our very detailed contract with them. NO HIGH PRESSURE WITH THIS COMPANY! We discussed several installation dates - and left it to them to decide when their team would be available to do the most efficient job. One date had to be postponed because of threatened storms - a VERY GOOD DECISION. However, our crew came on a Sunday that was convenient for us - and did an amazing job on a 92 degree day! (We provided lots of fluids for them) The crew of 8 people were very professional, provided :and quot;entertainmentand quot; to us just to watch them in ACTION. They have been working together for such a long time, they had a very pleasant (and sometimes amusing) banter going on! As an aside, it is good to deal with a company that has their OWN EMPLOYEE crews - not sub-contractor workers from SOMEWHERE! These guys seem to really ENJOY what they're doing. We would HIGHLY RECOMMEND McGlinch and Sons for not only roofing work (because that's what they did for us), but also for their expertise with other types of repairs and remodeling. A VERY WELL-ORGANIZED COMPANY WITH KNOWLEDGEABLE SALESMEN, AND EXPERIENCED WORKERS. A big THANK YOU to Jason for his special salesman 'TECHNIQUES.and quot; He took a lot of time with us to make our decision a GOOD ONE! We've resided in this home for 50 yrs - and know that our roof WILL NOT LEAK and the McGlinch guarantee is TRANSFERABLE to the next owners. A PLUS selling feature! THANK YOU!

They were on time, professional, respectful of landscaping, and cleaned up after themselves. The work was well done and done in a timely manner. I would definitely use them again.

Very well. My roof has a low pitch - rises 3 inches for every 12 inches across and no attic. Previous sky light installed by roofer did not have a curb which was needed for this low pitch roof. Work was done on time. Clean up good. Company was very accommodating as I goofed making out the check and drove to their office to make payment. Sky light is great so far. Velux brand used by both roofer and McGlinch. I'm a perfectionist and give everyone a good rating unless more is done than contracted.

Not so well I have had a roof leak in my living room every since they isn't stalled the roof. I had called them out 5 times to check the leaking area . The only explanation I get is that they will repair my roof if I purchased a chimney flute first for $1000 because they feel the leak is coming from my chimney however I don't have a fireplace or basement sounds like they want me to incur more cost to justify fixing their mistake. I purchased a 20 year shingle so I looking for a reasonable repair company to fix the leak I have had new estimates for repair to this companies roof and have learned that the valley was installed incorrectly which caused the roof leak all these years that I still have. I need a complete tear off and redo this companies refused to admit any wrong doing or to repair error and they were called out to inspect their work by me many times. I will never use this company again.

McGlinch came out of Friday and installed a fantastic looking skylight. Their drywall and painting guys came out the next and touched and up finished the job. They were very punctual and responsive, not too pushy and very professional. They are family business and care about preserving the family name.

Our appointment was on November 1st. Salesman was very prompt, even called to let us know that he was on his way. He was very thorough, answered all our questions and promised us an estimate in about one week. And that was that. No bid came. Called three times to request it, each time we were promised that it would be sent, but nothing ever came. On the second call, the salesman said that he would put the proposal together and quot;right after the holidaysand quot;. I assumed that he meant Thanksgiving, A week after Thanksgiving, I called again, and was told that it would be coming soon. I stopped by their booth at the Novi Home Show, a different salesman checked to see if there was a proposal completed. Nothing. Glad that business is so good that they can blow off prospective customers like that.

Our overall experience was great.We had at least 3 other companies (both window and roofing and all prior to turning to Angie's List) come out to evaluate the work, provide quotes, and then be too busy, disinterested, or unresponsive when we called to confirm having the work done. We called McGlinch and Sons because their Angie's List page said they specialized in skylights. They called us back quickly and Ryan came out to evaluate the job very shortly after our initial discussion (possibly same day.. I don't recall, but it was quick). We had several things going on and Ryan was incredibly knowledgeable about the various lights and took us through a few options for each situation. We had soured on skylights because of the problems we had with the old ones, but Ryan convinced us that there were good, modern options... and we couldn't be happier. The kitchen remains bright with the 3 skylights and the sun tunnels he recommended for the bathrooms are amazing. We will definitely use them again and would highly recommend you call McGlinch... period!

I would highly recommend them anytime and they do awesome work.
