Cutting Edge Carpentry by Eric Kalisek

Was told 5 weeks for delivery and installation of kitchen & laundry room project. This past weekend marked 19 weeks, and the kitchen is still not done. Deposit paid to Eric on April 15th, installation of first cabinets not started until July 21st (see dated photo). He has made numerous mistakes (see photos) and taken very little responsibility for them. He cut our custom countertop 10 inches short and had to reorder laminate (special order, another 2 weeks) and rebuild. He wanted to PIECE IT IN, which we would not allow. He also did not build an overhang on the peninsula as we discussed in April, so he had to reorder and rebuild that piece, as well. There were numerous "misunderstandings" which made it apparent to us that he did not take sufficient notes at the original meeting, or excluded the options to reduce his cost. These misunderstandings resulted in numerous options being excluded at final delivery, for example, mullions on the glass cabinet doors were omitted (see photo). I submitted the dimensions of our printer for our custom printer/file cabinet. The printer tray is too small, so our printer will not fit. Because of the tension between us due to his many mistakes, he recently "decided" that he would not finish our laundry room, and "decided" that he would just take $500 off the total we owed him. So, now we have to hire someone else to finish his job and try to match the kitchen cabinets, which will undoubtedly cost us more than $500. The laundry room is connected to the kitchen, so the match needs to be perfect. The quality of the cabinets is good, but the paint was too thick in some areas. He incorrectly installed the faux doors on the back side of the peninsula (see photo). Due to this mistake, the countertops had to be pulled up and replaced. The excess glue was left behind and now we are left with an uneven seam(see photo). When he was installing the toe kick, one of our laminate flooring boards came loose, and he didn't mention it (see photo). Luckily, we noticed it before the toe kick was nailed into place and were able to fix it. We have also installed our own cabinet pulls and will have to hire someone else to cut the hole in the counter for the sink because he refused to do that. We originally agreed to purchase the cabinet pulls separately (not install them), and to do the plumbing ourselves, but never to cut the hole in the countertop ourselves. When I called him out on his mistakes and became frustrated at the lengthy project time and continuous excuses, he stopped talking to me or responding to my texts and messages and would only talk to my husband. For his final day of work, he demanded to my husband that I NOT be there when he came over! Highly unprofessional. We've gone 5 weeks without having a functional kitchen. I hope that by posting this review, no one else has to endure this nightmare.
