Installing tile for more than 25 years, I learned to do tiling very young as my dad built custom homes growing up my brothers and i took to the flooring business. you name it, we can tile it! I love taking your ideas and making your project one of a kind.

It went OK. They ended up charging more than they said that they would, it was doubled. It ended up being more than the big deal because of the scope of the project. The quote on Angie's List was for one person and if two people were going to be required for the job, it was going to be a higher rate. He brought two people the first day without looking at it. I think that was where the confusion was. He did let us know that he was going to need a second person to be able to do the job. We prepared for it. It would have been nice if he had been honest about the price.

The tub area had cracked grout and cracked and discolored caulking when I bought the house. After the work by McDowell's tile the shower area looks bright and clean and brand new! It's also much easier to keep clean. A great job!

- I paid for the 4 hour special to lay tile for a 5 1/2' x 5 1/2' bathroom. The cement backer board was already in place with the thin set. All that was needed was the tile to be laid, grouted and the door trimmed. It took 2 men 8 hours each (total of 16 hours of work) to tile a 5 1/2' x 5 1/2' bathroom. They must have hit the wall with a tile because the newly painted wall had a good size dent in it. I had to hire someone to come back in and trim the door again because it wasn't opening properly. I have since hired another company to come in and tile my front door entrance, closet and master bathroom. The new company's price cost me approximately $150 less in man hours plus that price also includes installation of the cement backer board. The floor that McDowell's Tile installed looks very nice, but i feel I have been completely taken advantage of.

Jim and his crew did a great job. He actually apologized for being 1 minute late - I'm all too used to contractors being 2 hours late, and wouldn't accept his apology :).
His helper got right to work as soon as I pointed out the first job, while Jim and I discussed the other jobs. He told me exactly what he was going to do, what materials would be required. They did a nice job matching existing colors and even improving the cosmetics of some of the work of the original installer (not Jim), who had not done as good of a job.
He was professional, friendly, and they cleaned up everything better than I would have done it myself.
His final accounting of hours worked was very fair, and we were very satisfied with his work. We would use him again and recommend him.

It went well. We had him do the work and it was much more expensive than we had anticipated but it was outstanding quality. That initial purchase was just really coming out and quoting. I think it was 2 hours of actual labor and a tile job that was just scratching the surface. For the price, my grading could be unfair because I didn't compare them. They could be completely comparable to other ceramic tile companies but we had a miscommunication where he thought it was a certain amount per hour and we figured that when we were budgeting for the job. He had two men on the job and essentially the labor was doubled. I liked the quality of workmanship. I'd bid through them in the future and I don't think I'd use them for tile work. I think they should provide a written quote encompassing all labor costs within the job. The workers were very good and left the area spotless.

It went very well. At the start it was explained to me that to get the floor level more material may be required. As the project progressed I was very impressed with the attention to detail. Each day Jim would explain his progress for that day and his expectation of what he hopes to accomplish for the next day.
