Coastline Building

The good news:  this contractor is interpersonally pleasant, takes care to put down runners to prevent tracking dirt on carpeting, vacuums at the end of each work day.  The roof leaked during a storm while he was here; acted quickly to stop the leak, clean up the water, and replace the failed vent stack boot (very grateful).
The bad news:  workmanship was poor in many ways (an understatement); communication was inaccurate, decision-making was poor and resulted in $3000 of repair work after I terminated our contract.  He agreed to an 8 week timeline; I terminated the contract aftter 18 weeks with the work incomplete.  His perspective was that there was always a "reason" for problems and delays, which never seemed to involve anything he was responsible for.  I used a kitchen-bath designer, who was also my designated project manager.  He was consistently unwilling to work collaborateively with this person, and repeatedly gave her information that contradicted what he was telling me.  There were many scratches and chips to hardwood floors, walls and mouldings over the course of his time here.
