Yes, I recommend this pro
Garn was recommended to is by our insurance agency to come and dry out our house after a substantial roof leak. Eric was very easy to work with and we also had a good experience with the rest of the technicians that came to preform the dry out services and tear out of damaged drywall and flooring. They were clean, professional and made a bad situation less difficult. Garn also packed up most of our house for storage during this issue and we felt our things were well handled and taken care of. We ended up not using Garn for the remodel work to fix the house after the water damage was cleaned up, but were satisfied with the work they did. Our insurance also had some issues getting them paid in a timely fashion with our claim, but they were very understanding.

If we had it to do all over again and we were not grieving when we first hired them, we would not have let them build our home.  In hindsight we now realize that a good many of their workers didn't have a clue as to what they were doing especially in the finish work on the in and outside of our home.  In the beginning I asked them to build this home as if they were building it for their own mother and if this is the best the would do for their own family I feel sorry for them.  In the end, I just wanted them out of here so we could just start to live our lives again without the constant stress.  The only time we have contacted them since we moved back in was to fix a crack in the vaulted ceiling between our living room and kitchen because the drywall was not installed properly.  They came out and fixed the problem in a timely fashion.  This is really painful to talk about because we feel they took advantage of us in a difficult time in our life.  They used, we now know, the cheapest everything in the building of our home.  Every window in our home leaks and freezes on the inside due to air leaks.  Every exterior door hinge has rusted on the inside of our home.  They used the cheapest paint on the walls and trim that can't be washed (we were told this by a professional painter that we were going to hire to repaint the inside of our home.)  They put beautiful bamboo floors in but there did not install a sub-floor instead installing it directly on the deck that had been exposed to the winter elements and I know from the start were not flat but they "flattened the high spots".  Now every single wood floor squeaks like in a 100 year old house and the boards are separating because they were not installed properly.  I was told by a floor installer that there probably are not enough nails holding the boards to the floor so sometime in the future we are going to have to fix that situation paying for it out of our pocket.  During the building process we were slapped with three contractor liens by subcontractors because they did not get paid.  In addition, a couple of the subcontractors that we dealt with directly asked several times if we could talk to the general contractor (Garn) so they could get paid.  I felt really bad for these subs because they were really nice, did a great job and were having a hard time getting paid for their work.  We now have a huge crack in the wall in our kitchen that developed last winter and again this winter but are not sure what to do about it because it closes back up in the summer.  Guess we will fix things as they come along but I would not want them to do work even for my worst enemy.  Thank you.

Overall, this experience was a nightmare!  After suffering a disaster, such as a house fire in the middle of the night, dealing with Garn Restoration was nearly as bad.

They were paid by insurance to complete the restoration of our home, that they never completed.  Our basement still reeks of smoke.  Paint is peeling from our garage ceiling, the amount of water that leaked into our basement for many months caused alot of damage and losses and Garn Restoration will not take responsibility for their shoddy work or that of the plumber that THEY hired.

Ryan Garn refuses to allow an insurance claim for the damage, negligence and losses to our home and property.  Their insurance adjuster, as of this date has not contacted me even though I requested him to on several occasions.  We have not been compensated for clothing items that were damaged by their "cleaning" of them.  The items that were moldy and had to be disposed of were other losses that no one has covered.  After losing nearly everything due to a house fire, we now have due to the restoration company...and they had the nerve to bill us for cleaning up THEIR mess!
