We first contacted Jim sometime in February after doing much research and interviewing several salespeople and products.  We picked Jim, not because of price (there is little, if any, difference in this category), but because he has been in business for a long time and my family has done business with Atherton Road Sales before.  Jim was patient until we had basement repair done and even in the deep snow, came out and made a path to deliver the generator on a Friday and did a complete installation the following Monday.  He and his team was more than professional and accommodating.  We feel we made a right choice in both the product and the installer.  I would not hesitate to recommend Jim and his team to anyone!

One hitch was Consumer's said we had to upgrade our gas meter...which I do not believe was true, but it is a money maker for Consumer's to the tune of $708. And that wasn't even for a digital meter!!   Beware! 

We contacted this provider to get a quote on a whole house generator. He scheduled an appointment and did not arrive as scheduled nor did he call to cancel or reschedule. A few days later someone we didn't know showed up without an appointment stating he was sent by Atherton. We told him we would talk with Atherton and that he would need to call back. We called Atherton and left a message. It was several days before he got back with us and then he just showed up out of the blue at our house . He was apologetic but we were concerned that if his responsiveness was so poor before the sale, it may be worse after the sale, therefore we hired another vendor.
On the good side he did seem very knowledgeable about the product based on the various questions he answered over the phone.

I took my 1 year old, 20" Husqvarna 460 Rancher chainsaw to Atherton Road Sales, because in the spring when I added new gas / oil mixture to it, it started to bog down at wide open throttle. When I took it to the repair area at Atherton Road Sales, they told me it would take about a week or two. I waited two weeks and called them. They said there were 6 repairs in front of mine. I waited two more weeks and called them. They said there were 4 repairs in front of mine. I waited one more week and when I called, Tim told me that because they had so many lawn mower repairs, they pulled the chainsaw guy off and moved him to lawn mowers. I told him I had been waiting a month and would come bye that evening to pick up my chainsaw to take it elsewhere. Tim said, "Ok". I then called Jim at Atherton Road Sales, because I know him from generator service. Jim told me he'd get right into it. Jim called back and stated they had to order a new diaphragm and it would be ready in three days. I said, "Ok". When I finally picked up the saw, I would not pay for it until I tried it out. Tim went with me out back. I started the saw. I then revved it several times and each time it bogged down under WOT. I turned it off, handed it to Tim and asked, "...they fixed it, eh?". He gave it to one of his guys and the guy started working on it. I waited about three minutes and went to see Jim. I told Jim that after a month and a half, the chainsaw was still not fixed. Jim said he would have it fixed and he would stop by my house to drop it off when it was finished. Jim did bring the chainsaw to my house. I started it and was able to cut the top off a stump in my yard.

We had been without electricity several times because of weather. We decided to get a generator. We went with Atherton Sales and Service because of a recommendation of a coworker. We called them and someone came out and gave us a estimate. They performed the service and did it in a timely manner. We were very pleased with the work.

The Atherton Road Sales Tech came out and quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty crank position sensor. The crank position sensor was replaced and the generator now works properly. He also took time to show my wife a little more about how to operate the generator. He also gave her a lot of the history of the generator, as he has serviced this generator for years. I am very pleased with Atherton Road Sales service and I plan to do business with them in the future for yearly service and maintenance of my generator.
